Very Creative indeed....!!!

Thanks Everybody!!! :yipi:
Tires are Ofna Monster Pirate |
This truck is in route to the anodizer for some color treatment, dropped it off at the Post Office today for its trip to Minnesota. :yipi: This will have a RCM Center diff mount. My guy who is anodizing it is going to take the transmission mounting holes off for spur gear clearance on the diff with his CNC machine.
Updates will come when I get it back. I told him no rush so I really don't know if it will be next week or a month. I don't mind these ladies taking time to get done cause the end result is just great and I really enjoy it. I appreciate every persons help and replies to the thread along the way! UE Thunder SuperMaxx Brushless conversion http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...Thunderlot.jpg This will be my sole UE Runner truck. I wanted to have one to run with my boy outside tearing up the good ole Michigan countryside so this one is gonna be my do all rig for good times. Didn't really even plan on putting together another truck but these trucks get the best of me.....:diablo: So I sold off a bunch of extra stuff I had acquired and traded some parts to get a complete truck together. Big thanks to all my good friends who inspire me each and every day in this hobby and like to enjoy it with us. That is what this hobby is all about!! |
Glad i could help
Just glad to be of assistance in helping you raise funds:intello:. Its always nice doing business with you Joe:yes:, and it smply amazes me how you keep coming up with all of these rare parts to build these trucks so quickly:yipi:. Look forward to seeing your latest anodizing project:gasp:. I am sure that it will be another beautiful rig:yes:. Good luck Joe:na:.

Looks so sweet already, I love your trucks!

I had the towers, wing mount, lower a arms, servo skid, shocks and center skid. I was able to buy the wheels, knuckles, Gen IV and chassis from a great guy who was kind enough to sell them to me. Upper a arms from the UE store, diff cases were on Ebay a while back. GA bulks and F/R skids straight from the source, I always see people saying these are rare and hard to come by when you can buy them brand new in package from GA still....haha! Tie rods I traded for and the monoblock you talked me into buying Jerry!! That came from the UE store as well. All the a arms are lower and upper front Racer X arms w/ EXT 16mm knuckles, the knuckles cost a mint let me tell ya. I had a set of Spyder 6's and a bunch of spare parts from a used Spyder 8 for the center diff. I had to buy a spur gear for it and I had got a parts lot from Ebay last summer for that diff and a donor diff from a local club member. I had bought the center diff mount last year for a different project so that is already black and got one from a great member here so that non anodized one is going with that truck for now. One guy on RCMT was looking for IMEX Jumbo wheels and tires so I offered up the plastic Diamond rims I had because that was all I had. I traded off my IMEX Jumbo Maxx tires that I just loved to get some other parts last year and regretted it but it was done so no big deal right, then Tad offers him a set of tires that I just loved and that dude already bought some so I was able to score those for this build. These rims are the same ones that are on the Silver EMaxx on the old UE Website on the wheels page, pretty cool for sure. I cannot wait to get started on it but we gotta wait till she comes back from the spa...... |
Looks like a great start. What color scheme is this one going to have?
Thanks for sharing. Nick |

Can't wait to see it. Nick |
Parts landed at the annodizer a couple days ago so they are in line on the work orders. He has a M3 Heli Coil kit so he is going to pull the coils out of the diff cases for me before he strips these in the stripper solution and then is going to install new coils. Much better than finding out after the fact that I have to buy a Heli Coil kit and work for a hour or better on each Heli Coil in my VBS to get the half ate away ones out. Man that sucked! Won't ever have that happen again. haha
Will update when I get the parts back. Should be cool, stay tuned.... |
I can't wait to see it!!! :)
I just bought a new "Stage 3" Thunder Chassis Kit, so I am going to also build a Thunder very soon, but it will most likely remain silver. |
Got word from the anodizer that my box is headed back to me with the Brushless Thunder in it. I will update when I get the parts back to me!! The wait is almost over......:yipi:

Before!
http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...underlot-1.jpg After! http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...uperMaxxYB.jpg The Towers and Monoblock turned out cloudy more than the rest of the Yellow parts and these were done in the same batch as the arms so I don't know what is up with that and he said he could try it again but just did not want to etch and strip the parts too much. I figure it is good enough since this truck is going to be my primary runner truck. I am happy to have it back. Even had to give my work desk a overhaul before I laid it out.....haha  Pretty wild looking. Now I gotta come up with a shell idea. I think I might get another one of the F650's like the Mad Cow or the HPI 79 SuperCab F150. :yipi: |
Nice
Nice to see that you finally got the parts back. Yellow is my favorite color so I think it looks fantastic. Good balance and color combo, which means it will be another great build to see completed. I wish that I had access to doing some of that anodizing stuff. I think it looks pretty damned good. Nice configuration once again Joe.
|
I'm not a ford fan, but the HPI 79 Ford body is really cool. Very nice color scheme you have there, can't wait to see it go together!
|
Wow very cool!! You should do a black and gold truck. Mostly black part gold and some other as a small trim type. IMHO that would look great! (maybe gray as the small trimmage element).
I am glad you are going to run it! |
The parts came out great. That is going to be one unique truck once all put together.
When they do the anodizing do you have an option to have a part done in two colors? Like the rims done in black and yellow? Nick |

I have 1 more truck I am going to anodize and I want it to have Marble again so I either have to try and contact that previous company or find a new one. The last information I had on that company who did my R&B Lightning was the guy who helped me do it burnt his bridges there so I hope they will take more business from RC people. I have not yet contacted them about it. Quote:
Hopes and dreams in the back of my head.....:great: |

Those HPI gas motors are sick for sure! I wish they had been out when I got my Nitro Savage 25. (it was my first hobby car and nitro was too much for me.) ...Its no brushless beater though. Edit: in fact I even said "black and gold truck" in my post. lol. I meant to say black and gold BODY. oops. originally I meant to respond to this Quote:

 Well at least you know what my plans are for my next truck now.....:na:
I wish there was a Camaro big enough to do a Bumblebee Transformer shell. My buddy told me to do a " Racer X " theme from Speed Racer. I have an idea of doing a Yamaha Anniversary shell also. |
If the Monoblock & Knuckleheads were bought recently, they are most likely 6061-T6 instead of the 7075-T6 Robin originally used on the OG parts. I think he is using a lot of 6061-T6 on the parts he is re-releasing to save money so he can sell them at a decent price.

No, I don't/didn't know it for a fact, I was simply comparing some of the various parts that I have (both OG & Current), and they seemed to not only be slightly different in color, they also felt and weighed differently. I was by absolutely no means calling Robin out (I have nothing but the greatest respect for Robin and his products), I was just simply asking a question in the form of a concerned/educated guess type of statement...of which I was wrong, and am truly & honestly sorry!
Basically, because of some minor feel, appearance and weight differences, I thought that maybe Robin was doing his best to keep the manufacturing and sales prices down as low as possible so that he could keep all of us UE/SM addicts supplied with all of the parts we need! I deeply apologize from the bottom of my heart, my whole heart in fact, to Robin and anyone else I upset, I truly never meant to do anything like that, I was simply typing what I was thinking...now that I know the real truth, I take back what I said, and I never should have said it in the first place. I hope you guys can forgive me, especially Robin, as I think his Maxx Parts, all of his parts, are nothing short of the absolute best in the World...PERIOD! |
Took some better pics outdoors yesterday. The colors are much better outside in some good lighting. Even in the shade I still get glare....cannot seem to get away from that. It is either too cloudy out or just too bright....haha Dang it!

Cool looking!

wow
Bitchin' truck!
|
Thanks guys!! That means a lot to me coming from the both of you!! :yipi:
|
Awsome project
Really Joe that is an awsome build project. The only way to outdo something like that is to use real 24k gold plating and create a serious jewel work of art. What you have done is after all these years of Maxx trucks, you have taken them to a totally new level. I love the combination of colors and that truck is simply incredible. I really look forward to seeing your latest build completed.
|
I've said it before, and I can say it again. It is truly a beauty you have created Joe. Well done.
|
Nothing short of stunning, just beautiful!
|
Wow! That is a truly nice truck! I was skeptical on the marble effect on the anodizing, but that turned out quite nice! Especially on the wheels!!
|
See this is why I like collecting and building trucks. We here think it is great and I really appreciate all the kind words on my builds. That really means a lot to me, heck part of the fun is hunting the parts down then getting it ready for assembly. I take a great amount of time to make sure everything is just the way I want it and then building it is a ton of fun. I enjoy just the sheer beauty that a nice tricked out Maxx is all about. I used to flip threw the RC mags when I was younger and broke and just dreamed of someday having some of the radical builds you saw in the magazines back then. Well now I am kind of living some of my dreams of when I was young. I never would have thought I would be in the position to have some really cool RC's and get some awesome comments and compliments from fellas like you. It is great !! I am happy I built this truck and I look forward to the next one, and the next one, and the next one....ahhhhh
I would also like to take all of your wonderful comments and jam them right up the azzez of all the haters that post up in our threads wanting to know why we are so pathetic to spend money on something like a shelf queen. Always posting " what's the point " if we don't run it and beat it to death or just stare at it ( which I like to do ). Because I can.......it is mine. :diablo: |

At first my wife thought I was crazy childish but now she sees I mean business. Still, a lot of people don't really understand but usually they come around and get very impressed when they actually get to touch the trucks and see them driving. Your builds are an inspiration, J. Love it! Keep 'em coming, please. :mdr: |
I have two words for the fully pimped-out, full-blown Supermaxxes that we build...
[1] PRICELESS! [2] INVESTMENT! |

I am busy getting a couple Clods ready for my daughter. She wants to take them to school and do a show and tell before school gets out so I am getting her 2nd truck done this weekend so she can take em to school. Here is her CPE " Pet Shop Crusher " Terminator : |
More info on the Clods? Or perhaps a build thread? I have some clod axles and I want to build them up, most likely in a crawler style. However, I would like another paid of axles to build a MT like yours pictured.
