I on the other hand am still undecided...

I wanted to know what gearing you guys would recommend. I've ordered a 3680 1600kv ( but the order has been delayed  ) and plan to run 6s in a 3905. Still the stock spur so what pinion do i start with?

With the 80mm you could actually go to Mod1 Revo gearing as long as you get the spacing right. A 30T pinion and 54T spur should give you around 65 MPH but that's a huge pinion.

Would I need to run a huge pinion?

If you keep the 32p gears, yes. What is the minimum distance between the motor shaft and the input shaft? If you can get that measurement you can use BrianG's gear diameter calc to figure out what Mod1 gears you can fit. You could use a smaller pinion with a Jato spur if you wanted, but you'll get more speed and tougher gears with Mod1.

Thanks Spy I'll check it out :mdr:

You'll want the "L" clamp.

Or there's the Novak 5412. That's what I use on both my motors. It's got fins big enough to mount fans on.

It doesn't have a clamp on it though, MedUsa motors don't have their endbells screwed in and can possibly come loose after a hard enough hit.

Never happened to mine while it was in the rustler, and I broke that thing so many times I had to convert it to FLM. But either way, his choice.

I'll be running a 70mm 2000kv in my E-Revo and running MOD1 gearing, so what you guys are saying is that it may not fit due to the spur/pinion gap? If thats the case then I'll look up a 40t spur and a little bit bigger pinion (I'm going to be running 4s and gearing for 40mph).

Well it did happen to mine.So I can testify. In a vehicle like the Erevo where they face backward,a hard enough hit will leave you with a rotor dragging the rear bearing. Not a very good thing.I would do something to prevent this.I actually put little screws in mine.

Why not just stick to the stock pitch?
