I'm still waiting for a company that makes CF parts mainly for the military to let me know if they'll be able to do my parts. They told me they can make almost everything out of CF using their process and that got me interested. |
Ryu-
Glad to see your truck is moving! (I was offline for a while.) You said you were on grass when the temps were high Maybe all your runs were on grass, dunno, but I suspect the grass was the culprit. Any setup that is dialed on dirt or asphalt will usually run hot on grass. Even though it's a big powerful 5th scaler, grass is just rough on r/c stuff. Kulang- No offense here (just stating my opinion),but I hated the video. There were no "fluid video" shots. Just a slideshow. There is a bit of artistry when you add stills to video, in moderation. To me it seemed you tried to hard to make it a good video with all the stills, and should have left some of the meat and potatoes. Just my opinion. Either way I was happy to see the big guy in action, I just prefer real time video...... |

thanks man, the truck has been a blast! it is fast and tough as nails. it leaps like no other RC i have. it just flies off the jumps. i still havent had a run til the LVC kicks in. i have run for as long as 35 min and never run the batts down yet. the temps are doing fine. i can get them up in the 135 range after about 20 minutes of running at the park but like you said off the grass it would probably always stay cool. the hotter temps are always when i am on the grass. i just thought because it was so big that the grass wouldnt affect it like it does my 1/8 stuff. i still havent mounted the brakes. they are ready to go and everything i have just been lazy and have been having fun running it. in fact, that is one reason i run it on grass. it slows down much quicker so i have a lot more confidence to get it up to speed and not worry that i dont have brakes. i will post pics as soon as brakes go on. i was going to do a baja for my next conversion but i have changed my mind. i am gonna save up and get the MCD EVO Ultimate and do a conversion. its gonna be sick and i cant wait. the MCD has an almost identical driveline the redcat so the gearing and motormount work i have done should work out fine. cant wait. scroll down and check out the pics: http://innovativehobby.com/mcdraceru...r-instock.aspx in regards to the video, Kulang did an amazing job with the content. i am guessing he had maybe 5 minutes of uninteresting footage and was able to make a 3 1/2 min vid that was pretty compelling. had we been able to actually film for an hour and get some good footage of course things would be better but i can assure you, had you been with us when we filmed for 5 minutes, you would be amazed too at the end result he produced. |
That evo is awesome. I like the 2 sided shock tower.
I hope kulangflow doesn't get offended, I just like the streaming vid. |

I'm not offended at all. I appreciate constructive advice. I even started a thread once asking for advice on improving my videos, but no-one really replied. Just to clarify, when you say "stills" you're referring to the slow-mo sequences, right? There were only a few still shots at the very end, so I'm pretty sure they're not what you were referencing. I was curious, so I did a quick breakdown of the video. 1:29-1:47 - Slow-mo 1:53-2:04 - Slow-mo 2:24-2:55 - Slow-mo 2:58-3:34 - Slideshow So, that's 76 seconds of slow-mo/slideshow and 214 seconds of real-time fluid video. Can you clarify what you meant by "...no "fluid video" shots. Just a slideshow..."? I wonder if some of the real-time video looked like slow-mo because you couldn't hear the motor pitch. The original video had the truck noise and a much better song timed to to the video, but YouTube killed it unfortunately. Ryan and I will be filming a bunch more out at the golf course soon, so I'd really like to improve my next video of it. All advice is appreciated. Thanks! Word. |
Damn James. Im speechless! I just read this thread from page one. What a awesome build! Definitely my favorite build here yet! Im quite jealous:yes:
Wish I had the money to build something like that! I dont even want to know how much is into that build :oh: I liked the yellow truck body the best. I think it looks more fitting. IMO. Probably takes a few gallons of paint to spray up a body huh? Very very awesome! And I liked the video! Looks like it handles quite well! And FC energy drink. You going to let some RCM members test it out?:na: Maybe some rc sponsorships? |

thanks for making my day BlackedOut! i cant believe you went through the thread from page one??!! its a long thread. anyway, i liked the yellow body the best also but i was driving one night and it was a little cold and i went over on my lid softly and it just shattered. some of the stock redcat stuff is very cheap. i am working on a buggy body now that really hugs the chassis to keep dirt out. hopefully it holds up better. as far as the energy drink my whole goal with it is to get is as big as possible but i really want to be involved with RC as much as i can with it. unfortunately there have been a lot of delays. we had our cans sent from cali to utah to be filled. they have sat there for 6 months now and we just kept getting strung along. i finally went down and pulled our cans from the place about a week ago and they are now being shipped to a very reputable plant in Portland, OR. we have been guaranteed production within the next 30 days. i would be happy to send samples to anyone wanting to try it. also, we will be doing a reseller type program so if you can land some accounts in your area you could make some money (interested parties please PM me or check the website. it will be updated once production is complete). RCM and Tekno will be getting a case for sure as soon as i have it but hit me up in 3 weeks and hopefully i can send you out a few. |
I rewatched the vid... The audio is seamless so I assume I'm seeing the video correctly?
To me most of the slow-mo seems "ratchety", that's why I called it a slideshow. IMO a good vid would have 75% real time video and 25% slo-mo/stills/sweeps/what have you. Maybe 66.6/33.3 Definitely more actual truck noise. (frickin' youtube) And according to many experts the average american attention span is about 3 min. I prefer about a 5 min. vid. I must be above average:neutral: I want a 5th scaler bad, my current projects have me busy for about the next 3 yrs., maybe after that..... |
