I also have a 3.5 and a GTB that I could put in there. I might be the first to get past 40mph with a cr01!

linc did you see the CR-01 the guy put a scale trophytruck body on rccrawler? that would look perfect for your setup, ill see if i can find a link to it.

Small update, I finally got the body on it, and have a few more hours on it. I have broken the stock rear driveshaft twice. Luckily they include 2 pair in the kit. However I thought that it could do with some modification!
The stock center driveshafts look alot like the sliders in pedes and rustlers, infact they are almost identical, just a bit shorter. So, I took some metal u joints from my pede bin, and put those on the tranny output shaft. Used the longer pede sliders in the front, fit perfectly, and added about 1/2 inch more contact, as the stock tamiya sliders were a bit short IMO. Still plenty of room for the two sliders to move without biinding so all is ok. I used the stock white plastic tranny outputs from the axle end of the sliders. Did this for two reasons, first the area that sticks in the pede tranny had to be shaved down, and I want a weak area so that the gears in the diff will not break first. I did the same to the rear of the truck, except I had to take about 1/4 inch off the male slider for clearance. I did notice that the traxxas plastic seems to be superior for this application. It is a bit more rigid, and does not seem to come apart as easily. I am running this truck a bit harder than it should be, but cutting donuts on concrete with 4 wheel steering is so much fun! I will put some pics up of the finished truck and the center driveshaft mod tomorrow. |
Have you jumped it yet?

New Shoes for the CR-01!
Not much of an update to this old thread...
Picked up some used proline 8 shooter beadlocks and new proline m3 hammers off the rccrawler forum. Not bad, got it all for 45 shipped... I do like the proline beadlocks, I have a set on my other 2.2 rig. And the m3 hammers are soft and sticky. Plus my friend runs the hammers on his axial rig and they perform very well. Since the cr-01 is not the lowest cg crawler I did add some weight to the wheels in an attempt to keep it shiny side up. 3oz on each rear wheel and 6.5oz on each front. And the prolines came with memory foams, so that should help too. I also have a 17.5t motor that I may put in, not sure if it will crawl any better than the 13.5t does, but worth a try. That should put the speed down to around 5mph with a 16t pinion, which is the smallest I can run on the truck. Heres some pics of the wheels and tires: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF2977.jpg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF2978.jpg |
No pics of them installed?!
