Luckily, the sender accepted it back and refunded my money. But... IMO, if you buy a motor used NEU, Lehner, Phase Plasma or whatever, assume it's been through the ringer and expect the worse. I think it's easier to just deal with NEU and the repair costs and call it a lesson learned. Let's keep up the positive info in these forums regardless of who started what.

Oh, and I'm going to test out my just-finished Muggy at Mills Pond park today. Give me a buzz if you wanna get some runs in with that big ole Medusa ya just got!

killajb,

That is pretty much the route I have taken!! Now, do you mean Mills Pond, Ft. Lauderdale?? I am in Miami if so!! However, I do not think the Medusa on 10S with foams will do so good on the track....

Lastly, your inspiration is quite an ingenious system!! That buggy is running on 4S. HOWEVER.........................his trick is that he custom mounted a Savage 3 speed tranny to basically create an "overdrive" to the spur gear creating more rpm than if it were to be connected directly to the diff. Thus creating higher rpm and a higher top end. I definitely take my hat off to that guy!! He was thinking WAYYYYYY out of the box!!

Good Luck![/QUOTE]

I like custom....is there a link to the build. I was thinking those lipos were at least two 3s...I mean those must be 8000 mah 2s if they are because they are quite meaty.

Anyway. I am in search of the right motor and very very very interested in your maiden voyage with the medusa. I have looked at the MMM combo and the neu 1512. Since you have experience with both I am really excited to get your feedback so I can complete my order. I am thinking the lower KV motors will be more versatile for my bashing application. I am thinking that the speed runs will be short lived for me if I go through TOO many parts. But still want to have some fun.

Thankyou very much for the link on the records. I will not be attempting just curious.

Hey can I get pre-cut foams for this baby somewhere??
I say pre cut because I cant true a foam for my life.

Well Guys,

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so I will share a few and I think you can sum it up:yipi::yipi::yipi:

Saturday delivery with USPS is a great thing!!

What's with the long rear shaft on the 80mm Medusa? Are all of them like that? Do u think it would be long enough to hook a driveshaft to it for direct drive?

BL_RV0 12.13.2008 03:42 PM

Why? At 4 pole they would not be torquey enough to pull a truck around without any gear reduction except for the diffs.

Fast5sRevo88 12.13.2008 03:57 PM

I don't know, i know nothing about direct drive:lol:. Is it even possible without an outrunner?

No, definately too short to mount an outdrive.

Just how long is that little nubby?

Appears to be about 5mm or maybe 6mm long. Perhaps long enough to mount a coupler of some sort.

That is about right. I was actually thinking about mounting a plastic fan on it to aid in cooling since the wires come out on the side.

For those of who may have been wondering, I got my motor back from Neu today. As per the tech's notes, the stator had been shorted out. Now I understand why the "fuel tubing" was placed around the wires by the seller.............

jhautz 12.20.2008 03:48 PM

I thought it had a separated magnet?

killajb 12.20.2008 05:39 PM

How's that big 'ole Medusa working out?

j,

That is what they originally told me the issue was when I described to them what happened. When I called Thurs to get an update, the receptionist told me it was on it's way. She told me the tech would write info on the same RMA sheet I sent it with. The tech wrote under my problem description the words "stator short". Still, everything was replaced on the motor except the endbell cap! I would have thought it would have been easier to pull one of the shelf!! I did notice that it did come with some extra wire protectors around the wires where they exit the endbell cover. Is this something new that Neu is doing??

So far, really well!! I have been only able to make 2 passes with it sonce the control board on my HV85 went bad. I am hoping to have it back before the New Year.
I am actually running it on 5S with a 50mm Medusa 3300kv in the meantime and this little motor laughs at the truck!:whip:

Yea,
They are putting them on all the new Neu motors.
