George,
Any update on the 16/46 setup? Not sure if you've run it yet??? Also, curious on what your getting for run time with the Neu 4100? I've got hyperion's (4200's) so should compare very very well. Got mine together over the weekend. Getting really close. Hoping by mid week I can get it out for some shake down runs. That thing has got to be an animal (2000kv on 5s)! |
I have not replaced the pinion yet. I might do that for a run this coming weekend. As for the battery runtime, I get about 10 minutes on race mode (racing with the nitro boys) and about 15 minutes on slow running around the track. I pretty much have to change the battery at about the same time they have to refuel their 150 cc truggy tank.

George,
How have your Kyosho plastic spurs held up the brushless setup? I just order a delrin version for my slipperential setup (50T). Steel setup is nice but it's heavy and loud. I've got something else going on with my slipperential runout wise as well which seems to be causing some issues. Going to go plastic and see how it holds up. |
The plastic Kyosho spur is holding up fine. No uneven wear on the tooth profile. The runout is good since I'm using aluminum center diff mounts on both ends. It really helps in making the rotation true.
I just read your thread and I'm glad you're happy with the RX8. I still have to change my pinion to 16T. I had been lazy lately doing other things (running my speed truck). Hope you can get everything sorted out. |
Ya, I'd think based on the mounts in my MBX6T, the runout should be nill but it's something with the slipperential itself I believe. Could be the teflon glide ring. Not sure at this point.
That said, I'm going with the 50T Delrin version Mike is offering now. I don't tend to run the slipperential loose so I don't think heat will be much of an issue. I was just curious if you've seen/had wear/stripping issues with the plastic gears? Does require a slight gear change going from 16 to 17T pinion for the added 4 teeth on the spur. Hoping it works out well... Yes, RX8 combo seems very well suited here. Temps were very well controlled and power was very good for my app. |
