As a matter of fact I slapped the heavier springs on their so it wouldnt need the preloaded spacers. Their sitting right on my shelf in a little baggy.

Anyways-
Just did a shakedown run. Truck is solid but somethings need to be tweaked... like the center diff fluid... if i gun it the front wheels do indeed come up. but the tires look like pizza cutters.

Then i had a pinion work itself loose, luckily it stayed on the truck:oops:

-Motor only got to 130 degrees geared for 46mph... The fan on the MMM came on alot.(w00t its still alive)*mods- switch removal, teflon washer, custom foam inserts.

- I eventually got used to driving and had to use a light trigger finger.. the truck is very easy to correct in the air.. it does get a little torque roll-probably due to the giant spur gear.

Because of the diff unloading and me trying to keep this set of tires. i never did any speed runs, just a little bashing- the suspension is soo plush.. a little too plush on the rear.

Lost Parts- One kingpin screw

Loose parts- Pinion setscrew, right front wheel nut,

Things to fix- Antenna placement

Sounds great Ben, but do you have some kind of phobia of your camera?! Get us some pictures!!!!

Second run just finished out, I have to say is wow, this truck handles amazingly, Was jumping bit in the neighbors yard, I dont know if it is the jumps i was on or the truck but it tends to jump nose down. Temps were Battery-108, Esc unkown but the fan kept coming on and the motor got to a peak of 152, but that is because i have a 16t pinion instead of a 13.. I dont understand why the esc gets soo hot
While jumping i thought i killed the truck, the chassis clipped a decorative brick and sparked... scared me :D
The truck also cogged just a bit so im going to bump my start power from low to medium
I did indeed manage to wheelie it :D
short video clip will be up in a couple mins.

Needed to dial in some negative expo on the transmitter to soften the brakes a bit when i am tapping them. But overall brake needs to be decreased.

Settings on MMM are

Brake-50%
Punch-0%
Timing-10*

My kydex tray is holding up like a champ :D

Hoping for a decent video either way.

brushlessboy16 10.12.2008 05:09 PM

need a camera for vids, ill try to see what i can do..

brushlessboy16 10.16.2008 07:56 PM

Just got back from a great day of bashing with Eovnu, No breakage as of yet, ended up losing my 13t pinion in the leaves , so i ran with a 16t with the epa on the throttle at 75%
Got a lot of video- here is a short vid of me jumping the truck.

brushlessboy16 10.22.2008 08:03 AM

Well bad news... monster went up in flames, took a cell on my lipo, servo receiver.. down for a while.. might have lipo rebuilt to a 4s.

then do the small gear mod and get a rc-monster motor mount... should be fine for racing

What voltage do you guys race with?

Takedown 10.22.2008 11:41 AM

Damn, sorry to hear about that. IMO 4s wont cut it in a truggy for racing but should work fine for bashing. As for the MMM, I hope the v3's are out soon...

JesseV 10.22.2008 06:52 PM

Having a CEN matrix pro BL project too. Still need some parts for the car but almost complete now.

4s 5000mah lipo, tekno rc motor mount, some china esc (2-7S 120A) while my mamba monster is at repair, and 3000kV L-sized china motor.

Motor/esc testing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2cC1SLdlkI

No idea how that aircraft esc works on car, i'll see maybe tomorrow if other parts for the car arrives. Same setup with MMM worked on Kyosho Inferno pretty well. Until MMM burned.

Heres some pics of my Cen Matrix.This buggy is durable like a tank.I would compare it to my Xray XB8.It presently has a Tekno Neu 1515/1.5d/f and a MMMV2 with a MA 8000 3s battery.Its a rocket with a 4s 6000 MA.

JesseV 10.26.2008 09:05 PM

I too have heard that its very durable. The aircraft esc i have atm fails pretty hard. Waiting for my MMMv3. :)

I need to make a new battery tray so i can have the side plastic piece to cover a bit. Atm it wouldnt fit.

brushlessboy16 10.26.2008 09:28 PM

Very nice guys, the TR is very durable too, Running a CC neu 1515 1y on 5s, insane, unloads the CD like crazy

_paralyzed_ 10.26.2008 09:42 PM

pics of the cc neu?

thanks, i'm way behind!

brushlessboy16 10.26.2008 11:02 PM

no problem at all :D

brushlessboy16 10.30.2008 04:08 PM

Linc recieved my lipo yesterday, as did castle creations with my MMM. New esc should be in the mail tommorow or monday.. lipo not far behind :D

Also picked up a 10t pinion for the truck so i can finally slow the thing down:lol:

brushlessboy16 10.31.2008 07:36 AM

Rebuilt the CENTER diff yesterday, had some dark grey grease in it, not even full with grease. stripped it down and cleaned it, filled it with 10k fluid Because thats all i have. its definately smoother now but i dont think 10k will be thick enough to put power down

Does anyone know what the weight of grease is?

Arct1k 10.31.2008 08:06 AM

Rear diff should be very light 3k max 5k... Hence just the light grease...

BL_RV0 10.31.2008 09:22 AM

Did you get my pinion yet?

I actually ment the center diff.. very nice unit from cen, wear is nonexistent on the bevel gears, aluminum case and steel end caps:yes:

Took a little video on track too, tho the camera doenst like bumps. So its compiled from small clips. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sG18bAN_HHA

BL_RV0 11.12.2008 08:42 PM

Nice, but that 2800kv spinning toaster of death is going to fry very quickly on 4s.

phatmonk 11.12.2008 08:52 PM

Have to agree with BL RVO those motors cant run on 4s and 3s if your lucky. They are also hard on the ESC.I have experienced 1st hand how the less expensive motors can cause the MMMs to run hot even on 3s.I compared mine to my Neu 1515/1.5 on 3s.Nice conversion though.

Hmm, i have to disagree. :) Well maybe its because of the fan + extra heatsink, but the motor was 50-60C after driving. And I was driving inside, so the environment temperature was 20C+.

My pinion is 13t and spur 45t or 46t, so its not that heavy i think. I put low timing on ESC and low start power to keep the temps as they are now.

When I ran the motor outside, around 0C, the motor didnt go much over 20C :)

But yeah, compared to more expensive motors, these get much hotter I guess.

EDIT: The quality of these china motors also vary alot. Last 2800kv XL short circuited because some axle balancing epoxy kind of substance came off of the axle/magnet and went between magnet and coil. So some motors might also get hotter than others.

Time for an update

Hey guys I have gotten alot of stuff done over the past week.
I realized how heavy the rear of my truck was, and wanted to lighten it up in preparation for racing... so I started to take parts off and weigh them.. come to find out that the motor mount that came with the truck was heavy as hell! ~245g. Its made out of some mystery metal, its really heavy, really stiff and not magnetic.
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...1115081308.jpg

So last night i got to work on a peice of 2x2 aluminum. Its mounted to the chassis with 2 countersunk m4 screws. about an hour later with the aid of a drill press and a dremel this is what I came up with. 44g! dropped 200g on the mount alone!
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...1115081748.jpg

Secondly I got a spektrum sr3000 from a friend, and bough a module for my M8. got the module installed and modded the case so the antenna fit's in the stock location- it looks pretty trick

BL_RV0 11.16.2008 05:01 PM

Nice.

Carraig042 11.16.2008 05:07 PM

I wonder if it is stainless steel? It is not magnetic.
