I have not pulled any neu packs apart yet, no dead cells so far. In fact I have not dealt with an enerland based pack that had anything other than physical damage, no qc issues, tabs falling off or much else. I did have one trakpower pack that smoked a bit during a charge, turned out a balancer wire must have been bad (maybe pinched and cut thru most of the strands?), and it got hot and melted the insulation. I popped it open and changed the wire out, no issues since... Otherwise my experience with enerland cells has been great. I have made and reconfigured a ton of packs by them, with great results. |
I forgot to post this earlier in the week...
I had the pimp do some mods to a couple of my batts....and I am happy to report that he did a professional job. The manufactures could take a lesson or 2 from him on wrapping batteries. Thanks...another satisfied customer! |
Any word on those 2s hardcased rcm's linc ;)
|
Any experience of making a hard case for a lipo Linc?
|
hey linc, ever tried to replace a tab on a neu cell? i have a couple lying around, is there hope? the cells are in excelent shape other than the damaged tabs.

I just paid some small attention to the details, what I found is FlightPower, PolyRC & Hyperion's packs all have capacity numbers accurately match Enerland's cell series, say 30C XQ series, 700/1200/2000/3200/4500 mAh,or twice the number for a 2P config. But NeuEnergy has 800/1500/1800/2100/2500/3300/4100/5000, none of them match Enerland's cell. Also there are some Chinese LiPo maker do their cell's having tabs on both ends. |

As far as the tab on each end goes, I pulled my first rhino pack apart last night. It certainly has the enerland style cell layout, but is assembled differently. None of the std enerland markings on the foil either. |
Question time...
Who do these belong to? Real name is Michael Chin... http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3234.jpg And the lower pack is a great example of a puffed cell. I do not think I have ever seen a cell that puffed... |
I know the guy linc DBB888 on GSRCRC from Edison NJ - It was a Losi 4s pack correct?
I sent him your way... I can't see pics from office |
Quote:
He also sent me a maxamps 8000 4s pack... I vaguely remember him pming me but I cannot remember what he said, and no instructions in the box either:rules: Plus that thing is WAY out of balance, with some of the cells over 4.2v... Does this guy have a balancer? I think he needs one, or some lipo charging "tips"... Thanks Chris... And what is GSRCRC? |
I can pm him tonight and confrim - Garden state rock crawlers...
Losi pack is whatever you can do IIRC - Don't know anything about the MA pack... He seems pretty switched on I think he bought the Losi like that for peanuts... He actually got someone to sell him a broken MMM for 25 and then sent it to castle - asit was a v2 they replaced it for free!!! Any word on the axles? |
Quote:
The Losi should make a decent 3 pack. Looks like the other cells are ok, all are under 3v per cell, but not below 2v per cell so they should charge back up. Might have some loss of capacity though. I have the maxamps pack balancing out right now. It had voltages of 3.97, 4.35, 4.25 and 4.14... It will probably take all day to get down to sub 4.2v on that one paralleled pair. Looks like he charged it without a balancer, as the pack voltage was almost at 16.8v. Good thing they can take a bit more voltage than they say, but anymore and it may have popped... Plus he may now have a weak cell in there... God I hate 2p packs with issues. I will most likely have to separate all 8 cells and make up 1p packs and then test them in something, just to see if the cells can handle load. Then I get to weed out the bad cells and then make something out of them, all while not destroying the tissue paper thick tabs. |
You're doing good work Linc. A handy guy will always have a place in any economy. Now, a handy-capped guy.............

Hey lincpimp. I have two puffed 3s 8k MA packs. Was just wondering would you be interested in them? I really dunno what to do with them so desided to ask you..

Metallover, I just recieved your lipo. I do like your wiring very "inventive".... Also thanks for the free coke coupon!!!
Should be able to get it correctly assembled this evening and get it back in the mail. Do you want a new deans plug and 13 gauge wiring? Not sure if you wanted to keep the sub 14 gauge wiring and the hxt deans knock off that is on it. I do not currently have any jst females... I do not use jst on anything so I never bothered to make adapters... |

How can I send the packs to you and is the shipping costs expensive? Have to be honest, never shipped anything to abroad  |

Ok thanks.
Pm me your address. Have to explore those shipping options more closely.. I'll let you know when they leave from here. Should I charge the lipos before I ship them? |
I'm having a bad day... Here we go... I was checking the individual cell voltages of my Zippy-H 3S 5000 pack and I wasn't paying attention and touched my voltmeter tips together. Naturally it made quite a startling sound and a lot of smoke. It scared me so I instantly dropped it all on the counter. Upon further inspection, the middle two wires melted together, pulled out of the balancing tap about a third of the way (won't push back in), and melted the tap so that it won't plug into my balance board anymore...
Can you fix that? Could I have ruined the cell? |

Ok. I was able to pull apart the melted insulation, so it's not like the actual wires fused together (goodness that would be horrible). How much do you charge for that? About how long is the turn around time?
Thanks |

And make sure to enjoy that pop! Thanks for doing this for me Linc. |

I will drop it in the mail on my way home, priority of course. And thanks for the pop!!! |
Awesome! Thanks Linc! Sounds like you liked my shrinkwrapping skills. Done with a lighter I might add... no wait. It was a propane torch.
Glad you liked that pop.. Make sure to take tax money with you! It's not exactlyfree. Thanks for getting it out fast too! I got some labels made thanks to Overkill and I'll post a pic with the label on. Should look better then new now! Thanks again linc! I'll post some pics when I get the lipo and when I get the label on. |

I am rolling on the floor reading that - ouch.... I must say that plastic shrink is like onion skin - it just vapourises if you apply too much heat on one spot. Using a blow torch ?? even my 2 cents gas lighter blows holes in the shrink. Have to use a hair dryer to ensure even shrinkage. |
Quote:
I use a heat gun on low setting to shrink the packs. Heat the ends a bit to get them almost tight, the run sown the narrow sides, then the wider sides, then finish off the ends. Seems to produce the best repeatable results in that order... |
Hey lincpimp, we just talked on email about my true rc batts.
heres a pic of what the cell looks like. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...s/DSC00370.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...s/DSC00369.jpg |
Jessus, what on earth did you do to that battery?
I at least clean my batteries (just a baby wipe) on the exterior haha. At least every run :P I'm OCD for cleanliness. rofl |
[QUOTE=snauty;275989]Hey lincpimp, we just talked on email about my true rc batts.
heres a pic of what the cell looks like. Yeah, looks like you have 1 bad cell. So you have 3 good 4000 cells, so I can make a 2s 4000 or 3s 4000 pack. (or a 12000 1s pack, but who wants that) Quote:
|
Haha, shut it:lol:
|
Jeez i didnt think it was that dirty.
Hey can i send you both batteries to make sure theres nothing wrong with the other. And can i have the shipping details. |
And sense it would probably 2s 4000, can you take the extra cell and make a another 2s 4000 mah pack with the other battery, and I will have another 3 cells left over, hrrm let me think about that.

Hey what about reparing the lipo itself. Can you buy another cell to put in there.
