i wonder if it was any use. I see Brian did not like to ad 'things that rc-monster dont carry' . (do i look like i dont care as much as brianG..) I have other things to add to make the calculator more flexible and functional, regardless of the rc-monster forum..

this could be the world's best rc calculator. i only say it cos it could be so. Whatever connections there are..that sux. and for once the better half agreed.

BrianG: could you put in all spur gears for savage ? would be nice for text and numbers for tigure when capturing screen shots and such.

keep up the good work dude. if you had time i'd email you some good thrills..

anyway nice work, priceless and so much worth of use, just great!!

It is an iphone app ;)

You can download this thing called air sharing which makes your iphone/itouch be able to act as a file repository - just unzip and upload brian's download and you have it on your iphone/itouch...

Had this for 18months :)

Thanks! And the decision to limit the products to what Mike carries is in 4 parts:

1: This whole RC Calc project started as a single simple page primarily for the members here. So, limiting the product line to what Mike carries made sense. Plus, since it really started here, it is out of respect to keep the main products to what RCM carries. I honestly had no idea that it would be as popular as it is. Every once in a while, I see referrer data on my server logs that points to RC sites and in languages I have never even heard of.

2: Updating simplicity. Let's face it, there are TONS of R/C products out there and it takes time to keep it updated.

3: Ease of use. If I put in every RC product out there, the drop-down box "shortcuts" would be extremely long and totally negate the purpose of having them there in the first place.

4: This entire site is client-script driven, which means all the data for all the motors and vehicles is stored in javascript arrays. Adding everything out there would make the resulting data file relatively large and might even make the script run sluggishly.

As a side note on point 4 above: I had thought about changing the data arrays into a database driven system. This would make updating much faster (I could write a little GUI for doing this), and I could use AJAX to retrieve only the data needed, but this would no longer be able to be run offline from your pc. I also thought about using XML files instead, but cannot seem to find a suitable cross-browser method to load XML on the fly that works both in offline (when stored on your system) and online (run directly from the internet) modes.

As far as iphone app is concerned, I hesitate to offer any guidance. I don't know how robust the iphone javascript interpreter is, how closely it follows the W3C rules, or if future iphone versions will have any compatibility issues. Arct1k said it can be downloaded and run on the iphone, which is cool, but who knows if it will still run in the future.

And, if there are things missing (ratios, etc) post the exact tooth counts of all gears and the resulting ratio so I can figure out how to enter the data correctly. If I missed something already posted, I offer my apologies, and simply repost the data as a reminder.

I think he was referring to a previous post...

so what does that mean - that my explicit stuff wsa muted. talk abt im used to that..

briang will u include new stuff in the calculator ? why make it holy ? its just a damn calucalotor right..

would like to keep this excellent calculator working really.

Yes, BrianG's calc is an awesome tool and he has explained why it has limitations. Why can't you accept that ? I hardly think it is worth name calling for someone to have loyalty. BrianG is well respected on this forum ( and I'm sure other's) and your posts seem to centre around BrianG and his calc so your ranting will fall on deaf ears around here.

;( oki i guess i 'rant' too much (shout/complain?). So is it a problem that i rant, isnt that whats the forum is for, too, why keep a shining cadillacness aka thin politeness here, and turn down ranting, or negative(or constructive/critical) hurrish feedback.

Not sure what you mean by 'rant', but..somehow RCM-rccalculator is like duracell-gillette. But its not my problem and hence, not a problem, at least not to you. I been on enuf forums to know ppl clench like fish in a barrel, and that the truth is more exception than rule. in other words im not surprised about who 'agree' with you, or BrianG.

..I did not mean to make ME the problem, to you as well.. I will as-is accept the rc calc., and anyways, it doesnt even matter if i accept it or not ;) I am HAPPY that i can use the 'software' for free man.

well can-cannot accept.. i just have to accept it ;) which is quite ok then..im not expecting anybody to 'break free' on my wish. And will just add, that i do respect this forum, not only the calculator..

its still a very nice calculator any how. the best i have seen. Also I am happy brian added a few motors and gears that was relevant for me.
--
doesnt matter to me if brian is respected on forum. maybe it matter to you. just suppose he is not ? i respect him by choice, regardless of what some majority do. i dont respect 'respected' persons just because. typical i dont have interest in majorities, but when it come to the calculator i guess i'd like universality etc. (okay, could be to cover own needs lol, but also to keep general usefullness broad/wide).

i know its not my work, and my thought only to be mere suggestions. So i 'ranted' about that rc monster somehow become a foot lock around the calculator..imo the RCM shop needs some specs on whatever parts they got. Same reason I never bought any RCm parts, I dont liek to go with the WYSIWYG principle, i'd like to know what i get (and not read fora simply to just dust up that info)

whats great is that its work in progress. like the calculator didnt stop years ago or something. i really appreciate that brian has effort to continue the excellent work. talk about saving time, the calculator is GREAT for saving time, and too, for planning builds, and explore potential options.

pink panda. i have a pink panther on my desktop. just thought abt your nick ;) pink panda's must be close to extinction too lol. JK..

BrianG> btw, sorry if my ranting/suggestions got outta hand, as you know, me among other are always looking out for another good update. ii mean looking forward to, or ya know!

That can be done, because it's a great thread. Let me know what your logic would be for something better.

Do you want to be president? What would you legalize?

Thanks, I like your ducky.

not sure what make you think i'd like to be president. but thats a cool question to get! I'd make BrianG my vice!

..i'd legalize all 4 letter words known to womenkind, and ..ban Censorship, Corruption, and Cowards. - And perhaps all of your drugs :na:

It's not a ducky! It's a YELLOW ducky! i just let you know some logic.

Bondonutz 11.07.2009 11:56 AM

Ben meaning to do it for a while, I dropped $10.00 into the donation box.

Your Calculator has ben a HUGE help over the last couple years, Thank You !

BrianG 11.07.2009 12:41 PM

Thanks Bondo, it's appreciated!

Lol, maybe I should open a PP account to accept presidential campaign contributions? I'm telling you all right now, I would not make a good president: I have 0 tolerance for incompetance, not skilled at beating around the bush/lying effectively, and believe in less government.

RC-Monster Mike 11.07.2009 01:01 PM

So your saying that in order to be a good president, we need an experienced liar that readily accepts incompetence in the process of over governing?! In politics, these are considered skills - in life, they are negative traits(IMO at least). Perhaps this is what is wrong with politics as a whole. I too would make a horrible politician based on these "qualities".
Oh well - if NOT being an incompetent, over governing liar is wrong, then i don't want to be right! :)

coolhandcountry 11.07.2009 06:37 PM

Do you need a Vice President?
I can start practicing at lying now.

While this has grown brian. I glad to see all your hard work is been so useful.
