Had my savage since it first came out and broke many and I mean many a dogbone and never seen one twist the top off. Should note I have upgraded the front end to the XL diff and bones but been lazy and havent got around to the rear lol but I have like a dozen of these so called stronger dogbones in my box still so might go break some more before I upgrade haha

Well here it is the green machine lol, having tire issues so only the fronts are the new ones of coarse with the new beadlocks, I have been sent the wrong version of the LST tires now 3 times! Word is tho the ones I use(original LST meats) are no more :diablo:
For those running these how are you setting your slippers? If I run it locked it just wheelies constantly and is rather annoying and really needs a little slippage to tame the wheelies but the savage slipped isnt really the best out there, would be nice to see HPI come up with a HD slipper.

Been awhile!
Few things I have done since last post, got the flux tranny gear so no more jb welded gears but now I find its slower then it was before so a gear change is in order. Got a hero cam for my slash and got a mount made up to put it in the savage as well awesome cam to have for rc's! Really about it

Shes a brute now and ready to tear up some pavement.

Thanks, im pretty proud of it and dont miss nitro! Just gotta play with the gearing now cause its much slower then it was before I was using a locked in 2nd gear setup before.

Beautiful truck and paint job! Love the lid and those LST tires!!! I'm bidding on some now....

Savage03 05.27.2009 11:57 AM

Haha I love those tires I have had them on it since it was a nitro, pretty much since the LST came out. I also use them on my clodbuster.

That's the best part about conversions, feeling good about it :yipi: It feels much better to drive something you put together than to buy something RTR and go play.

Got this $7 slipper kit from Kershaw and gave it a spin today seems to work no issues to report :mdr:

just curius what are the dimensions of your battery(s) in your truck? I want this conversion from FLM, but im curious if I can stack two 11.1v 3s lipos in there.

scarletboa 06.15.2009 01:42 AM

i'm surprised nobody said this earlier but, your batteries are only rated for 50a constant and 75a burst. with low ratings like that, it is bound to puff and your esc is in danger as well. if you want to get some batteries that have better ratings without spending $200, you should look into the hobbycity lipos.

at the minimum, i recommend this battery:http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s..._15C_Lipo_Pack

the battery is mislabeled and is actually rated for 20c constant, 30c burst. it uses the same cells as the zippy flightmax packs. 100a and 150a are much better than 50a and 75a. you should notice the power difference immediately.

for only $40, that pack is a steal!

Savage03 07.04.2009 07:39 PM

Ok well it was suggested from here actually to buy it but im confused, you say mine is 50a constant and 75a burst but the one you listed is actually rated for 20c constant, 30c burst.

Now I have ran it several times now and it hasnt had any issues doesnt even get all that warm, someone said their labeled a bit lower then they really are also.
If you still want it here is the size
Size-
30mm x 50mm x 160mm

If it matters here is some info from truerc on this pack...

PERFECT FOR 8th scale cars and 40-60 size planes
We field tested these cells to 113A, Thats well over 20C
