sounds a lot like bad connectors between the esc and battery.

The problems make me think they are dean's connectors. Correct?

Although they may look good connectors go bad from the slight arc of connecting and disconnecting.

I had the same problem, new connectors solved it.

please try and report results(I'd like to know if I diagnosed it correctly, I learn from my mistakes!)

Did you eliminate your on/off switch? It sure appears to be loosing connection at the switch.

If you left some wire attached where the switch used to be, I would see if those wires are good all the way to the board. Maybe there is a loose connection at the board for the switch wires.

I'm wondering if it does this when driving slow also?

Those Bursts do really spike the amperage.

I may have to switch everything I have over to Traxxas or Losi EC5 connectors. Those don't spark very much if at all when you plug them in right? My Deans give off a fireworks show when I plug them in.....

I eliminated he on/off switch but there is still like 2 inches or so of wire left. I will have to have a look at the board and see if the connection is loose. But what makes me think it can not be a loose connection is that I can take the wheels off and rev it like that so there is almost no vibration and it will still do that.

Do you mean where I soldered the 2 wires together when I removed the on/off switch? I did this even before that so it seems like it couldn't be that, but I will have a look at it and try that.

It mainly only does this at low speeds. The first run when I had a large open area to run it and I could keep it from 2/3 throttle to full throttle it wouldn't do it, but when I would let it go below 2/3 throttle, if I let off any it would shut off, then turn on, and would keep doing that until I got it back up to speed again.

All connectors will spark- its charging the caps in the Speed control- My ec5's spark just the same as deans but they have a shroud so its not as loud or bright. just try and swap another set of deans in for the ones you have

nope, I meant the current flowing from your battery to your speed control. once you turn on your MM the loadof the switch doesnt change. Like BB16 above stated, all connectors will spark. I guess one should consider connectors "wear item" and replace as needed. Your deans need replacing. Damn I'm good.

Oh ok. I still prefer the look of the EC5's no that you showed me some pics of them on your truggy. They have a very clean look. And I like the fact that they are bullet connectors in a plastic case, easy to solder.

And what will you say when I replace them with new connectors and it doesn't help anything? :na:

I would get Traxxas connectors. They are a lot more comfortable, than the EC5's.

And alot less expensive than EC5's too.

Yea and that. The EC5's are only 3.5mm bullets too.

you could always get 6.5 bullet connectors. they will spark just like any others, but they will probably have the least amount of resistance compared to any other connector.
