on a side note: when I started in brushless I fried a very expensive Hacker setup, several hv-maxx setups and countless nimh batteries. For you're first brushless setup you're really not doing too bad. Wrenching and failures are part of the hobby. Think top fuel dragsters that need to rebuild their motor after each run.

your batteries are your power source, the more you spend on batteries the happier you'll be

You can get the hyperion G3 packs at all e rc. However support Mike and get some lipos from the RCM store!

Or you can look around like the rest of us do.

Any luck with returning the packs to SMC?

Metallover 07.20.2009 10:34 PM

Lots all at the RCM store

But if you need more selection-
Hyperion 35c vx packs - http://www.allerc.com/
C-tech - http://www.rc-monster.com/products.php?cat=120
Zippies (if you're on a budget)- http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...5&ParentCat=85
Polyquest (enerland, cheaper price) - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...7&ParentCat=85

The flightpowers out now are enerland but the new EON-X packs will be similar to hyperion packs, probably better.

Oh yeah, Mike has a couple Hyperion G3 packs in stock.

Do you need two seperate packs for the Flux? If not, then get either of these:

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...=HPLG33542005S

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...=HPLG32550005S

The first one is a 4200mah 35C 5s pack, and the second a 5000mah 25C 5s pack.

Metallover 07.21.2009 01:28 AM

:surprised: Wow those things are cheap.

zeropointbug 07.21.2009 03:50 AM

Ah yah, you just figure that out? :intello:

They are as far as I know the best value in the high end lipo packs.

I would say, great price....!

Finnster 07.21.2009 09:31 AM

Nice!

Yeah I did actually, likely a contributing factor!

Can you run a 3s and a 2s on the Flux? The manual says both pack needs to be equal. I didn't think I could even run a 5000mah and a 5100mah pack or a 28C and a 30C pack, what I interpreted was both packs must be identical.

I was banned by hopmeup on ebay because I left them neutral feedback based on the quality of the product they were selling. Dont base your opinion of A123's on what you got from them - they really are good reliable power. Not as much power as lipo, but likely much more reliable.

To do a 2S/3S set up (as 5S), you just need to remove the Flux battery wires, and insert a single pack connector - this will make the flux think it is seeing one pack. Oh, and you'll need a series wiring connector for the packs (or is that parallel???) Check Brians speed calculator page on battery wiring to verify the layout.

You don't need to do anything. Just use a single 2S pack and a single 3S pack and use the existing connectors on the Flux ESC. They'll plug right in and be in series for 5S operation. If you do what you stated to modify the connection, you've just wasted your time since it's the same electrically regardless of where the series connection is.

Ok thanks, do you find the higher internal resistance of A123 vs Lipo presents an issue?
