The 1515 .5y motor is 4400kv, so the 1415 might be about the same.

It was brought up in the last tech support/engineering meeting and everyone was in agreement to move forward.

The earliest I would expect to see anything hit the market would be 6-8 weeks (in a perfect world). I'm going to keep on top of this project and make sure it doesn't get stalled. It really is fairly simple for us to produce, we just skip the step where they machine down the output shaft to 3mm. We also need to get artwork and packaging put together, but that's fairly easy as well. I will post any pertinent updates as they become available. Thanks!

Nice!!:yipi: A great motor just got better!!

6-8 weeks for NOT cutting the shaft!!! :whip::whip::whip: Sounds like someone needs some "persuasion" to move that along!! :whip::whip::whip:

LOL Kidding! I do product development for a living and understand that even the most seemingly simple projects are "complicated."

The 1410 1y with 5mm shaft is an awesome idea. I'll take two! It seems this motor has hit the sweet spot.

Also just wondering what a 1.5Y wind in the 1410 would be kV-wise?

Any chance a slightly lower kV 1410 will be produced?

Cheers.

A 1.5y would be about 2600kv, but castle has decided that making all 1y motors and augmenting the length of the rotor to affect torque and kv. If you want lower kv, get the mamba max pro with a 1Y 1415 (2400kv, more torque). Only draw back, not ROAR legal.

Great to know that info on Castles direction. Thanks for the reply mate.

Cheers.

Howdy Castle dudes

When you get around to putting out the 5mm shafts for the 1415's would it also be possible to extend the length ?

They are a tad short for the Slash 4x4

Cheers

FYI: long pinions are readily available :-)
Changing the length of the stock of motor shafts might not happen too quick.
I would think they have a volume of them cut to length waiting for build runs...

crusey_aus 03.03.2011 09:49 AM

Where does one purchase a "long" pinion mate ?

Cheers

DrKnow65 03.03.2011 09:51 AM

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ened-Steel-15T
Link to a TechnoRC long shank pinion :-)

EDIT: Forgot the "Cheers" :-)

crusey_aus 03.03.2011 10:25 AM

Thanks for the link mate

They are mod1 whereas I would require a mod8 for the stock Traxxas Spurs

Cheers

DrKnow65 03.03.2011 10:35 AM

Ah, well as of yet I have not seen any Mod.8 (32p) long shank pinions.
But it does seem that there is a demand for them.

Maybe e-mail Robinson Racing and ask them what it would cost to turn you out a few?

They may just want to do a small run to see about the interest in the market...

Cheers

I imagine you could easily use a nitro revo spur on the slash 4x4 as all newer traxxas slippers seem to be the same, then you could use mod 1 gears

So... How is the timing looking? Still on track for the 6-8 weeks?

I've been eyeing the short course motor for awhile, I think when the 5mm shaft upgrade comes out I won't be able to resist....
