I've read his thread a dozen times or so.

I like the way yours looks like a 5b and the simplicity of the design.
I'll be taking pointers from both builds but want the 5b look.
Will be starting mine just as soon as I can get ahold of some channel aluminum.
What width did you use?

Super project mate.

G-day mate. I love what you have done with this project. Using a piece of aluminum channel was very creative and yet simple. Your entire build was great to see and I really do hope that I can get the chance to do womething like this one of these days. Although the last thing I need right now is another project to start working on. I have several builds that I need to finish already. Nice work. Have fun playing with that. Nice to see one of the CC 1717's put to good use. I have three of them in my collection for future projects. G-day mate.

Thanks mate, have you got your projects on a forum somewhere for me to have a look at? it would be ineresting to see what other people like yourself are doing.

I have to dig around to find the threads that I posted pics on. Here a few of them. I will edit more in as I find them. All of my projects have involved 3906 SuperMaxx type vehicles. I wanted to keep things simple until I am ready to move on. The fun for me is in the builds.

More amazing builds.

There are more amazing builds out there than I could ever hope to achieve, but I am proud of what I have been able accomplish in this hobby, and I am having a lot of fun with it. I wish I could do more. Especially when I see some of these $4K & $5K Baja projects, but I have to live within my available resources $$$$, and keep the addiction under control. The wife got me started in this hobby a few years ago, but I see the look in her eyes at times that tells me that she wishes she hadn't. It is builds like this home made 5b that impress me the most, and hopefully I will be able to do something like this at some point SOON.

I feel lucky to be here on RCM & also on UE with a collection of creative hobbiests sharing all of our projects in a way that inspires each of us to challnge ourselves and keep moving forward with unusual or improved builds that can please and improve our own sense of what we do for fun.

What I love most about this hobby is that it gives all of us a habit or addiction if you will, that may cost a bit more than some others, but it is not a life threatening or serious health issue that would require years of recovery and or therapy to overcome. I do not smoke, chew, or do drugs of any kind, and alcohol is reserved for special occasions not the norm. So it gives us an out without jepordizing are family, our freedom, or our health, which can save all of us big bucks in medical, and/or lawyers fees down the road.

Thanks to each of you for the interest in my work, and the positive comments about my R/C creations. Have a great day guys.

Respectfully, Jerry Hill Prague, Czech Republic, Europe.

Very well written Jerry.

One of the reasons i got into this hobby was because of a bad back, i was into Dirt bikes and trail rides but i just couldn't do it anymore. This hobby doesn't affect me badly in any way at all, not even the wallet really as previous hobby's have been much more expensive to get into and maintain.

I have also found that the people in this hobby are a lot different, they are more helpful and appreciate what you have done or doing in the hobby, no matter what area your into, that's another thing this hobby offers a wide range, you have buggy's, monster trucks, crawlers, helicopters, planes, boats.....etc....etc

v8hatch whats the measurements of the channel aluminum you used for the main chassis plate?
Would be a good starting point for me with the countless questions I may have lol

Your help will be very ummmm............ helpful .

v8hatch 03.20.2011 01:59 AM

Its 3mm thick, 100mm Wide and the side is 25mm. I thought at first it was going to be to light and bend but so far i haven't had any problems.

v8hatch 03.20.2011 02:11 AM

Thanks to Brian i have adopted his idea on widening my buggy by using the axle extenders at full length on the rear and cut them down for the front. I tested it out today and it's perfect, it's so much more stable on high speed cornering.
