I'm looking for the 2025 motor and this ESC for my Baja 5B conversion. I do have a setup including ESC, motor, pistix, LVC and all that I can use but the before mentioned kit is definitely what I want to try out when it's out.

That being said I'd rather have a quality built and tested product out so we don't get the same story as with the first versions of MMM.

Electric Eel 05.14.2010 05:30 AM

I thought that the MMM problems were due to a faulty component from an outside manufacturer, not due to lack of build quality or a lack of testing.

sikeston34m 05.15.2010 12:28 PM

Can someone from Castle toss us a bone maybe?

I wonder how well the Phoenix Ice 100 would work for a Monster Truck?

I understand it's not going to have brakes like the MM software.

Will a Pistix adapter be required?

Are we beating a dead horse here?

thomatrix 06.06.2010 04:46 PM

I would love this on the market now that Mike's Baja 5B kit is out!

What kind of power will we be able to throw at it Castle? My dream scenario is a 200A/12S but i know that is asking a lot.

Jahay 06.07.2010 05:21 AM

ive been hoping this would have been released already or at least out of the Beta stage testing....

160A / 12S is what we are going for.

RC-Monster Mike 06.07.2010 07:04 PM

12s at 3.7 volts per cell and 160 amps = 9.5HP - About twice the power of your average go cart or minibike. That ought to be sufficient for most any RC car. :)

nuz69 06.08.2010 03:49 AM

9,5HP x ~85% (system efficiency) for the output continuous power:lol:
4 x continuous power under acceleration ~35HP, might be enough for a RC car :D

Jahay 06.08.2010 04:20 AM

wow thats amazing!!! give me this ESC!!! i cant wait to try some big power!

nuz69 06.08.2010 04:24 AM

Some people (me) will have to learn how to tape their tires  :lol:
100mph geared monstertrucks will probably blow many wheels

That should cover it and it's somewhat close to my dream scenario. Thanks for the update!

Jahay 06.08.2010 04:57 AM

Nuz! Taped tires just wont do it...
These tire manufacturers need to get up to times and build some form of tire that is belting integrated into the tire.

Arent baja tires the best for not ballooning as they are thick?

speedy 06.08.2010 11:57 AM

When will this esc be aviable ?

thomatrix 06.22.2010 01:28 AM

Any news Patrick? What quarter do you expect (or hope) to launch this?

We are still in testing. There are one or two minor issues still that we need to address.

Romster 06.23.2010 12:22 AM

....

Do what you got to do. Running 8s now and would love to get this Esc.

Electric Eel 06.23.2010 03:52 PM

Are the Hydra versions on the same schedule as the MMM XL? I'm looking for a replacement for my boat.

RBMike 06.24.2010 12:09 PM

HMMMM, a 12S 1/8th buggy. Now I just need to find a 700Kv 1512.

Jahay 06.29.2010 10:56 AM

i know there are a few niggles that are still to be sorted, but how long roughly does a couple of niggles generally take to sort out.. .and then after the niggles are sorted out... how long to bring to market? Just want a general idea of how long these things take :)

9s coming very soon i hope on my 1520. SHOULD BE RAAAAPPIIIDDD!!!!

nuz69 06.30.2010 03:53 AM

For jahay :
9 x 4,2V = 37,8V ^^ (when fully charged)
37,8 x 1600 = 60480 RPM !! I think you hit the RPM limits
In 8S : 53760 RPM.

That is true nuz but i calculate it using 3.7v as if the motor was under load. So then the result is 9x3.7= 53,280 which is well within the limit.

I have heard that a few people on here have pushed 10s quite comfortably.
So i thought 9s would be more than fine. Plus i wont be running 9s most of the time, mostly 6s or 7s. 9s will be for speed runs.

Wouldnt this be ok? i want to get the most from the motor... They are built well and should be able to handle it right? Or would i be better going 8s?

nuz69 06.30.2010 05:09 AM

I think that the 1520/1Y with 9S and 0% punch control will break the transmission instantly  But that is what we like, overkill setups :yipi:
Post new vids when you get this 12S ESC ! ;)

Jahay 06.30.2010 05:14 AM

I dont like running anything more than 6s as it is just un necessary lipo weight. But running 9s just for speed runs will def be fun. I will most probably set punch control when using 9s as i do not want to do any back flips at 50mph :)

Nuz the tranny cant handle 6s!!! let alone 9s... So before i buy this esc and some extra lipos, i will do a centre diff conversion with the ofna spider centre diff and the RCM Universal dif mount. That should handle 9s quite well i hope!???

nuz69 06.30.2010 05:22 AM

then I would be more worried about the front and rear diff, but the center diff will send some power to the front so you should be fine. On the other hand the front wheels will maybe balloon a lot  !

Jahay 06.30.2010 05:31 AM

As lonng as i am not violent with the throttle, all should be fine. Look at the guy on here running 14s in his savage!!! His centre diff is fine and had no complaints of his BulletProof diffs blowing...

Tyres will def be a problem. I will probably run the Baja road tyres as they are a little thicker and then do the fishline line mod as well as taping them. Anything and everything to prevent them from blowing off the rim!

Electric Eel 07.01.2010 11:42 AM

Patrick, I have an Ice HV 160 I am using on a Baja with mechanical brakes. Since I don't need the braking features, how about letting us download the car software. My HV 160 is past the warranty period and I want to play!

Electric Eel 07.26.2010 11:25 AM

Any updates?

Hi Patrick,
hope you are enjoying the summer. It's been around five weeks since we last heard from you. Could you shed some light on how things are progressing with these ESC's?

Thanks.

I was just checking on that this morning. They are being scheduled for production. Not sure when they will go into full production, but real soon now. :)

thomatrix 07.28.2010 04:11 PM

Thanks for the quick reply, I appreciate that.

That is great news. I am up for two whenever they are around. If you could post here when they are up for sales that would be great.

Jahay 07.28.2010 04:16 PM

im excited... looking forward to this!

_paralyzed_ 07.28.2010 08:34 PM

Thank you Castle Gods:yes:

drkdgglr 07.30.2010 09:44 AM

I just noticed that the castle link software was updated and now includes Hydra Ice support. Does this mean these are also almost ready? Is it possible to give any timeframe of release?

hemiblas 07.30.2010 10:16 AM

So are we looking at software support for Cars for the existing ICE controllers? Or are they all going to be new controllers with the Car software? I was thinking about picking up one of the 100A, 8S models for one of my airplanes, but it would be nice to know I could later put it in car or truck.
