Hey Candyman, what's your current gearing with that motor... Did you see a big difference to the Bigmaxx?
Alien |
I left the pinion the same (12 on a 56 spur ), according to my calculations it was geared for 47mph, which was too much, with this motor its 38mph, after some more testing i'll probably gear up a tooth. Im just paraniod about cooking the motor again :s
Its super punchy, spins all 4 wheels and wheelies if you stab the throttle at any speed, its good, but then it will feel punchier with the lower gearing. I butchered my old bigmaxximum and made a heatsink, it was either that or mirror polish the neu http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/200.jpg |
Cool.. that sounds pretty powerful... Did you take any temp readings on that motor? What if you removed the anodizing from both the bigmaxx and neu casings, then give them a nice polish job...
I think that would look stunning... It would definitely go along with all the shiny bits of the chassis... Can't wait to see a new vid of the truck. Alien |
are you sill running Nimh's
thats a beast of a motor- maybe mirror finish the motor and heatsink? that would look drop dead |
That would look cool actually, but perhaps only on the BM, since Neu do have good aftersales service; not sure how they'd view a polished motor can.
Still got the fan unit from the BM though? I'll take that in exchange for a Mars bar/ similar value item... |
Excellent heat sink!!
|
I have the fan, unfourtunatly the end of the bigmaxximum rotor is threaded and the fan screws into it! i'd say drillng and tapping the rotor of that medussa is going to be a hard job.
|
Now that's one kick *ss Neu Big Maxx....
|
Sun glasses at the ready :oh:

I can#t believe that the neu fits into the bigmaxx?!?! really?? did you have to drill the can? It looks awsome. did you take thermal paste?
|
Wooaahh.. Looks even better... Hey, it why not take the black off of the Neu as well.. I'm sure it would look just awesome...
|
the maxximum was the same diameter more or less, i had to take some of the inside out on the lathe, then cut a slit and stretch it open a bit (the cut is at the bottom)

Shiney...
Never mind about the fan then, just thought it would look proper bo on me Medusa.. :mdr: |
me likey da shiny! polish the neu polish the neu polish the neu. Neu is cool, they'd totally still service your motor. They understand the inner workings, well, they're on the inside:yes:
|
That's looking sweet Candyman ... nice job.

love it! |
That is really quick man... can't wait to see how fast it goes when you gear it up... It's just wicked!! :yipi:
|
Sorted.
So, how do you like the MMM and Neu compared to the old setup? |
The MMM is excellent, very smooth from setting off, no cogging and the brakes are very sharp and controllable.
The Neu is ok, feels about the same, i might revise that when i gear up. And my NIMH's are good too  however one of my packs has definatly lost its edge so im down to one good pack. I have some EP 4200's to try fingers crossed they can sustain high amp draw like the ib4200's else...... well............... oh god it doesnt bare thinking about..... I might actually have to consider that lipoo rubbish  and did anyone else notice wheelies on demand but not all the time! half and half 100k , 500k center diff oil is defo a good mix |
Go lipos!!!!
|
Candyman, good choice on the 2.5d 1515, I have that on 5s and its awsome. I need to re-gear and get a few more mph, it's around 30 right now, want 35 to 40.
On Lipo's, do your homework and research, talk to your friends (Us:whistle::mdr:) and you will be just as happy, if not more so |
I have 32 Vapextech 4300mah nimh cells that need a home- only used a dozen times if that, just need reassembling with decent battery bars. I'd rather give them away for free (just pay shipping) than let them rot away sat on my bedroom shelf; sure someone could make use of them...
Lipos would be better for sure though, they arent that expensive, easy enough to charge and look after, and the power & runtimes are just brilliant compared to nimhs, not to mention the weight savings. No pressure.... |

You had that car how long now? Hardly flip on it's lid cause you can control it. Yeh, that means MORE POWER:whip::intello: I'm glad you keep us up to date Candyman2 |
LOL pistol what???
Thank you Neil, are they base don GP4300's i tried some of those once and they werent very good, huge voltage drop under load. If not I may well try them, give me a price and i'll have a few off you. On the plus side these tip top EP4200's are pretty good! just had a test outside on the street and the truck is mighty so im good for another 6 months or so! |

time to lose nimh go lipo!:whip: |
I've no idea what they're based on, but I dont think they'd actually be all that much good for the mighty Neu and MMM, better for smaller stuff now I think about it....
|
Definitely think Lipo's are the way to go tho. For the price of Zippies, Hyperions, C-Tech's these days, it's hard to pass them up. Especially considering some NiMh cells are just as expensive, or more in some cases.
|
...wires UNDER the ESC :D Clever boy once again :D
|
:)
geared 14/56 now for 42mph, feels much faster, keeps balooning my bow ties! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zj_WP3YGjdE |
That is quick... It still has a lot more in it to lift the front wheels... Very nice.
|
Definitely a lot faster! And quicker! Looks great! how were your temps? on the NiMh's?
|
Thats more like it, got alot of get-up-and-go to it for sure
|
Quote:
Could probably go a little faster and harder as well, with some Lipo's for sure....:lol: |
don't forget longer. "Yee-har"
|
That's the most powerful nimh setup I've seen. Imagine what it'd do with lipos!!!
|
lol, motor was getting pretty hot, i had to let it cool half way through. I'll get some temps next time I run it, i only just bought a temp gun thing
|
How were the NiMh's?
Motor could be heating up from not being stressed hard enough as well... lol |
