What the gear ratio of those diffs?
Thanks

1st 4 you listed are all the same, 13/43 ratio. Not sure about the mayhem.

Thanks
So the only diference is the case. ( plastic vs silver alu vs blue alu)

question about the lst 2 diff convertion
do my traxxas driveshaft and center cvd can be use whit this convertion
a got a 3905 maxx
Quote:

You'll need to purchase the adapters mike sells, here
. those will go in place of the normal outputs for the left and right. so if you replace both diffs you'll need 4 of those units.
So Ok for the 4 corners.
BUT for the center??
I use
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...c/trac9151.jpg
Can I bore ( drill) them out to 8mm.
Or do I need something else like 2 of
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...mmcouplerw.jpg
If so, how do i connect them to the CVD.
Thanks.

SnoopMaxx 02.09.2009 01:44 PM

You need a set of these 1/8 diff output shaft

http://www.rc-monster.com/prodimages...haft%20web.JPG

Quote:

Use these 6mm output shafts to replace the stock output shaft/drive cup on most 1/8 diffs. Allows use of stock driveshafts for Maxx and Revo trucks while using 1/8 diffs. 2 required per differential.
You can also make them from Revo spindles

Emaxx_Quebec 02.09.2009 02:33 PM

Yes, i know but my Q is for the center shaft.
The one that goes from 8mm diff pinion output to trans.

suicideneil 02.09.2009 03:32 PM

Yes, you can drill out the stock part to 8mm to fit the diff shaft- seen it done a couple times. You cant use Mikes part with cvds, you'd have to use dogbones with different drive cups that he sells (8mm bore), or possible drill out the cvd to 8mm, but that might weaken it too much.

Emaxx_Quebec 02.09.2009 03:55 PM

Thanks Neil, that's what I was thinking.
I'll go with Traxxas CVD drilled to 8mm.çà
We'll see if it hold up.

Mechanical brakes! Nice. Definitely get v3's and post pics, you build some really nice rides, I like all your youtube stuff.

I'm posing this question to the 2 people who posted pics of their projects. I was wondering what you used for the center diff. The mount, diff, top plate, and is that a t-maxx motor mount on the center diff? I am new to the forum and just getting back into rc and saw that this thread is based on an idea I had been thinking about before finding this forum. Thanks for any answers and sorry for length on message.

SnoopMaxx 03.02.2009 04:18 PM

This is one of the the single motor mount
Electric Motor Mount HB Stadium 10

And the twin motor mount is from an E-Maxx 3906
Traxxas Motor Plate E-Maxx

Traxxas Motor Plate Custom E-Maxx

Trinity Motor Mounting Plate E-Maxx

With the agreement of “IT’S Me“ I post my step by step process to make this mod.

1: It will be cheaper if you have already:
- Center dog bone.
- 4 old and unused drive shafts. (replace 1/8 diff output shaft )

2: It cost me (include shipping cost to Canada):

- 2 x LST 2 diff = $43 us ( 43/13)
- 4 x 1/8 diff output shaft + 2 x Drive cup - 8mm bore for 1/8 diff = $50 us
- 1 Dog Bone center kit from Kershaw = $ 55
- Bow ½ pvc (Fem to Fem) + 1” join = $0.50

First, I cleaned the diffs and put Gorilla Swat in it and change the 4 diffs output.
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...c/DSCF0016.jpg

When I put them back together and tighten the ring to the cup, it was impossible to turn the diff by hands.
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...c/DSCF0010.jpg
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...c/DSCF0011.jpg

I noticed that the RC monster output was a little bit too long so I had to shave them to the appropriate length. Once shaved the diffs output, it worked perfectly!!

Next, plastic trimming can get started. It’s better to do it slowly to not take too much material at a time. I used this dremel bit to do all the work.
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...c/DSCF0038.jpg

I hope the pictures talk by themselves.
A lot of small adjustments is needed to achieve a perfect fit.

Then I had to shave the drive shafts a little bit too. After that, it was A LOT easier to install the pins.

finished with RCM 8mm Drive cup - Kershaw dog bone

That looks very good I am definitely doing that when my stock 3906 diff gives up :intello:

Unsullied_Spy 03.05.2009 07:50 PM

Very good writeup! This is a very good upgrade for the Traxxas trucks, the stock diffs are very weak.

The only parts i can see to fit is tihs:
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...d=RCMdiffshaft

I thnk that i'll try to put this diff in my revo bulk, maybe i'll save lot of $$$ and don't have to buy the V" hybrid!

Actually you already have that part, just need to cut of the threads.
that peice is in the the outers of the axle shafts in revo's, where your wheels are.

Very cool Tech, I'm buying some
I used LSt diffs in my Rock crawler with Ti Ni ring and pinion

1 other thing 43/13 is stronger than 45/11.
there is more tooth contact

I got the 10 tooth helical pinion to go with the setup and man is it beefy. I never knew that they were so heavy duty. I am truly glad that I decided to put this setup together and use it in one of my trucks just to try it out. Now I am sure that I will be purchasing more to convert my other builds. Anyway my question is this. I have everything I need to put these hybrid diffs together except for the pinion gear bearings. What is the size of those bearings and are they listed anywhere? Also is there an aluminum diff cup out there to fit these HB diffs? Any info or links would be grately appreciated. Thanks guys.

its me Build is Frekin awesome , that thing is going to be a blast to drive
I', building something similar but more of a rally sedan

Sorry to intrude
but I am reading different stories on Hybrid diffs. not all the info seems to be there
Can someone tell me what exact parts are involved ?

I read about emax/revo bulkhead with LST Diffs
but I also read Muggy diffs ..? which is it.. confused
I greatly appreciate the help, thank u

Isn't the Aftershock Diffs the same as the LST ?

Aftershock, lst1 and lst2 all use the same diffs. They have 43t ring gears and 13t pinions.

The muggy uses 45t ring gears and 11t pinions.

All of the cases fit all of the diffs. So you can run al cases on a muggy and plastic cases on a lst. I would run al in everything, but I am having good success with the plastic case in the front of my emaxx. I have an al in the rear.

You also have quite a few options on the diff cups. I run nova rc alloy cups, but the 8t heavy duty cup looks just as stong, and a bit lighter. Stock uses a plastic cup, not the best for big power...

the upper arms in the last pic that are placed in the rear of the truck are front revo arms (no str servo back there)

there are no front arms on front of truck

Why not list complete part info on a build thread, isn't that the whole purpose ? helping others.

BTW
Revo Rear uppers Fit Emaxx Front & rear uppers, unless there is some angle I do not see going to buy some verify that.

suicideneil 03.31.2009 04:00 PM

Heh.

We do like to help other people with their builds when ever possible, but we dont just build our own trucks for use as 'how-to' guides for other users who dont have the skill or initiative to complete their own vehicles.

Posting parts lists and # is a long job and most people dont tend to keep receipts or a log of every single part they've bought- especially if the intention was to build a custom one-off as a personal project.

If you look through the whole thread (yep, all 16 pages), you will see the truck in completed form pretty much- it uses normal maxx suspension essentially, just with the revo arms substituted in place of maxx uppers.

most people do not list part numbers, So certainly not expecting that.
Just a simple part name would do
like (picked up some Losi 8 shocks today)
( the losi 8ight shocks are almost a drop in replacement)
or (I dropped in some revo upper arms and they fit great)

lincpimp 03.31.2009 04:30 PM

I do agree that detail is nice when eyeballing someones build thread.

I am bad about build threads, I just post pictures of the finished product most of the time.

I leave out the fact that most of my materials are scrounged out of a dustbin... and other choice areas in town... Plus I usually leave out the fact I made 4 of whatever to get the final product correct (or maybe just close).

All in good fun, huh!

Actually the whole purpose of this thread was to show that the lst diffs fit in max bulks with very little work, sorry I wasnt more clear about it but the whole truck was actually a after thought.

No the revo arms do not fit on a t maxx, I modified the bulks to make them fit. You are basically the first person to ask about them, hope I answered your question.

reading this thread reminds me.. I forgot to send of the two MMM back to castle :)

BrianG 04.10.2009 01:08 PM

It looks like he just put an adjustment nut as a seperator; you notice there are no threads there? I did the same thing on my MBX5/Corr truck and Slash to reduce bottoming without making normal suspension travel too stiff.

Ooooh, dime-bar moment.

Home made dual-rate shocks, very cool.

The red springs are from a Revo

I´m tinkering with that idea my self
