OCRC Raceway is allegedly going to have a racing class for electric 1/8 (this is an indoor 1/10 offroad track for those who are wondering). My buggy will be running in it for sure!
And, awesome truck! It is very nice to see it finally running. |

Well after a thorough cleaning (two hours and 30 cotton swabs latter) she looks almost as good as new. Yes I am your typical type 1 personality http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2694.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2695.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2696.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2697.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2698.jpg Well team, I’ve already charged up Lipos and I'm and she’s ready for some air in the AM hours.. Just incase you missed the Video on the last page here is the link.. . P.S. (again) If you don’t want the screen to flicker while viewing (click FULL SCREEN) on the bottom right hand side).. Once it loads up in Photobucket.. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...un05-09-08.jpg P.S.S. I cant express the satisfaction I have experienced with (Sick lidzs) the body has taken a pretty good beating thusfar and still holds up GREAT!.. Absolutely no issues yet.. (Thank you Sick Lizds).. Have a great one team.. Shaun. |
Not a Good Thing!..
I went to the park, Jumped my truck and split her in half!
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2700.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2701.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2715.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2716.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2717.jpg I learned a couple of key things today! 1. I need to practice on a lower ramp :oh: 2. I need to practice my in-flight control  3. It really, really hurts the truck when you lunching 30’+ long and getting 8-10’ air and you land it on the lid! (this is a BAD THING).. :gasp: Lessen learned.. I’ll post the Video in few, so you call see it happen Tonight I'm pulling the controller out and sticking in my G3. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2718.jpg Tomorrow I’ll be back at the park looking for redemption and learning flight control. Have a great one.. |
OUCH!! That looks pretty bad. Definitely looking forward to the video though.
|
Maybe the whole 2 hours of cleaning did something to it, lol. Unlucky, hope it doesn't cost much to get it all up and going again
|
Ouch. Where exactly did it snap to- looks like the rear upper CF plates croaked it, and the rear lower skid came away fromt he bulks...
|
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2716.jpg
this is the very thing that kept me away from building a revo truggy, never did trust the bulks to support any kind of weight from the bottom. That sucks to see man. |

We’ll I just haven’t had the opportunity to perform exploratory surgery on her just yet but initial damage report is favorable / under $100.00 ((new rear bulk, new rear top plate & a new rear sway bar kit). http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2745.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2746.jpg :oh:That might actually work out well?? By the time I get my replacement parts from Gorillamaxx I should have my MMM from Mike. (positive thinking) OOooo the video is cool, I'm still working on it.. Quote:
Nooo it was all user error :mdr: and it appears that wont cost me as much I thought?. Quote:

Hay its me!, Nooo I look at this way 1. It was all usere error! 2. I was going 30’ and landing most of them either upside down or in a cartwheel There is only some any truck would take with that much punishment. P.S. The Cool thing was I was at the park with my BOY!! He saw the whole thing and said I “Quote” That was Assume do it again!.. |

Yea I think that I am goin to have the same problems with my boys once they get into the hobby. Kids love to see things getting mangled and trashed, because they do not yet understand how much a crash like that costs $$$$ and what it takes to acquire that money. We have to teach them to keep things under control. Even pushing the limits has to have limits when your wallet is involved. Personally I like the look of the carbon fiber gear, but it is truly no match for the stronger aluminum or titanium counter parts. If you are going to continues to bash at that level you have to build for that purpose, or you are going to end up spending a lot of money on replacement parts. Your truck does have an awsome look to it, but you still have a lot of weak plastic parts on it, and with your learning curve you are going to end up spending an aweful lot of money buying more plastic parts to keep it up and running. It may take a little bit longer to build and the end weight may be heavier than you wish, but in the long run it will hold up better and you will have more time actually driving it instead of repairing it. With the level of your electronics they should have no problem pushing a little added weight in trade for a stronger vehicle. Keep up the good work. It is good for a lot of newbies to see what happens in the material choices that you make in your build.

Yeahh my boy is 11 and my girl is 8, they both enjoy beating my trucks (BBBOooo) :mdr: I kinda understand your postion on the Alum vrs CF, but in my trucks defence, I beat it real hard that day and i kinda new it was going to break before i started out, hence the video oppertunity for all see a custom built truck (crack in half) :) that doesnt happen too often..:yipi::lol: I've had my far share of alum trucks (3) to be exicat and I realy wanted to build a true half and half truck to see how it would handle, how much weight, how it tracks, etc comparpard to my "all alum past builds" and i have to say, that i would not do anything differnetly knowing what i know now.. I do need to work on my in-flight control.. hhhhaaa hhaaaaaaaa,:yes: but when ordered up my replacement parts the other night i went back to the CF.. i think under normal beatings it will be just fine.. We'll see. I hope to start racing it next month.. :yipi: regardless it does teach the newbies.. ( I like that!!):lol: |
