Babies are for girls!
j/k, I love my kids, just wish they would sleep more when I do :D... |
Finally ran the TP4070 with the replaced (now 8mm) rotor/shaft.
Gearing was 32t pinion / 36t spur, 196kph no-load gearing calculated with 1550kv and 3.7v/cell. Battery used was a 6s 65C 6000 Turnigy Graphene. Had to heat up the body and re-shape it a little to make them fit :sarcastic: Also improved the cooling by adding more and larger fans, should give about 3x the airflow over the motor. Forgot the GPS, so cannot tell topspeed, but the setup ran great. Outside temp 20C, max. motor temp 51C, ESC temp 53C, battery 33C. Graphenes seem great, lots of punch and don't get warm. Only "downside" (actually a good thing ...) is that they drop quite fast at the end of the run, I accidently discharged them to 21.2V, cells were between 3.46v and 3.52v, hope I didn't damage them ... This really looks like it could be a healthy 110mph+ can-be-run-through-a-full-pack setup :yipi: Hope it stays reliable ... http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...070-2016-1.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...070-2016-2.jpg |
I hereby officially nominate you for the most air-flow of the year mod award Pokal :).
Very cool you got the 6Ah battery to fit; looking forward to video and GPS speed; you're raising the bar again, well done! |
Hehe, what, I already had those fans, would've gone with larger ones otherwise :mdr:
Doesn't look too good, but should hopefully allow to run through a full pack even on those 30C sunny summer days (with probably 40C right above the asphalt) |
Are you making multiple high speed runs back to back to back? Trying to understand why you would need all that airflow and fans...
|
Yes, don't want to squeeze out the last mph, but have a setup that can be run normally for a full pack.
Ran it again today, somehow I just reached 166kph, last time I had 172kph. Weird, considering that I have taller gearing and better batteries now. Maybe the torque control is limiting topspeed, but I think I had the same setting last time, not sure. Need to find a better spot to make sure it's really revved out. Was not too much grip today, outside temp only 15C and no sun, so cold asphalt. Here is an onboard video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRRX_R25zVA |
Found a closed-down road and made another video:

hey Lizard what esc are you currently running?
|
Awesome spot! Hope they don't work too fast so it stays closed for a while :).
Looks to be running pretty good, right? You think there's still room to up the gearing or wanna wait for Summer temps first? |
Yeah, nice spot but the road is dirty and shreds tires. With S3s not too much grip, then tried S1s, a little better but they look pretty bad now after two packs.
Motor runs good, geared up to 32/35 (202kph) and increased timing from 5 to 10 degrees, temps stayed below 50C on a 18C day and hard running. Amazing :) But I wasn't able to get a speed reading above 173 kph, I think the speedo is crap. Tried several different mounting locations to get the speedo in view of the cam, but only could get a readable speed display once, and that showed bogus values, like 100kph too low :( And I think I either have too much downforce in the back or not enough in the front, the front seems to get a little squirelly at higher speeds when the road is not perfectly smooth (can also be seen in the video). Phildogg: Still running my good old Mamba Monster Extreme (from an XO-1) flashed with 1.46 firmware. |
