Yup got them in the mail... Need to get them tested and see what they are like. Did you have an specific issues with any of them?

Hardstyle 04.17.2009 05:22 AM

All of them has swelled a bit, but can't noticed when they are resting. And the other MA lipo has gone a little fluffy.

Metallover 04.18.2009 07:50 PM

Can we compile a list quick? I want to catagorize lipos into catagories like stay away, enerland cells, great packs, crap packs, live up to specs, etc.

snauty 04.19.2009 05:52 PM

hey linc you get to do a full exam of those lipos.

jalodo56 04.20.2009 02:29 PM

Can anyone help with it: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20308

I was planning to reconfigure two 2S 4000mAh packs to one 2S 8000mAh, but could it be that it is just as good to just run the two packs in parallel instead? Are there any issues related?

I do have the possibility to charge the two packs as if they were one (Hyperion EOS0610i DUO). That probably helps too...

JHH

brushlessboy16 04.23.2009 07:32 AM

Your best bet is to run them in parallel. When you start building packs 2p. the cell pairs can become unbalanced and hurt the pack without you knowing... With both packs in parallel you can monitor each cell individually

snauty 04.23.2009 09:41 AM

Hey linc did you get a chance to look at those lipos yet.

I actually did!

Anyways, the "good" pack is fine. I would say that you may want me to replace the main leads with some new 12 gauge wire and reinstall the traxxas plug. The wires are way too long on both packs, and have some wear on the insulation.

The "bad" pack does have 2 dead cells, but the other 2 look fine.

So between the 2 packs you have 6 4000mah good cells. I can make you any combination of packs that you use 6 cells total. So you could have a 6s 4000, 3s 8000, a 2s 8000 and a 2s 4000, etc...

So let me know what you would like!

snauty 04.23.2009 07:15 PM

Hey if you were to do 2 2s 4000 mah batteries. Will that lower the discharge rate or will it stay the same.

If you are running one 4000mah 2s pack at a time, the discharge rate will be much lower then when it was an 8000mah pack. If you run two 4000mah packs in a parralel you'll have the same as it was originally....

Remember you have 6 cells...

What would you want to run them in? Those are 12-15c cells at best, 4000 mah at that spec may not be enough for a 4s setup in a heavier vehicle. What esc motor etc...

snauty 04.24.2009 10:08 AM

Thats what i was concerened with.
Its for a 1/8th buggy and i will need to run them in series.
So 1/2 of that isnt going to be very good.
What would you suggest linc.
Just keep the origional battery and buy another one.

Most likely the best bet... I can still make you a 2s 4000 packs if you want, you may find some use for it...

snauty 04.24.2009 06:09 PM

No its fine.
Im just going to have to buy another batt.
Can you tell me what might of caused the bad cells.
Was it the not being able to balance it.
And how much do i owe you. Pay through paypal?

No prob, glad I could help!

Jeremy1976 04.29.2009 09:30 AM

Where can you buy lipo cells at? I just want the individual cells. Thanks

Go to individuallipocells.com they also have a wide variety of had to get metals such as unobtainium, and must have gift ideas like rocking horse poo.

It would be better to tell us what brand and spec cell you are looking for. Very few mfgs will sell single cells.

sikeston34m 04.29.2009 05:52 PM

OMG! I can't believe I actually tried that website!

Their prices on unobtainium can't be beat!

Metallover 04.29.2009 06:19 PM

I don't know what the hell unobtanium is, but it that website has it then you could probably get anything there - like mcmaster carr...

If you just want 1s pack look on cheapbatterypacks.com. They sell induvidual packs there.

suicideneil 04.29.2009 10:03 PM

Try Unbelievable rc too, they sell loads of great stuff...

Metallover 05.04.2009 08:34 AM

I found a great website about enerland. I don't know if this has been brought up before, bue here ya go.

http://rclovers.com/WhoWeAre.htm

It hasn't been updated in awhile....

e-mikey 05.05.2009 03:25 PM

Sent mine out today pimp. I took the liberty of removing the shrink wrap hoping I could see something obvious to fix, no luck.

Thanks.

brushlessboy16 05.06.2009 10:12 AM

Hey Linc, do you happen to still have the Hard cases from eovnu87435ds's RCM packs?

Nope, they went with the cells. They were warped anyways.

Dang.. its a whole lot easier to reform intact casings then try and fill holes for bullet connectors.

nitrostarter 05.06.2009 12:18 PM

... stupid hard-case rules. Too many chicken-shits think these lipo's are going to just blow-up from riding in the car, WIMPS!

yeah..

the nitro guys think is sooo rediculous that i run 4s.. and its funny when they jump back as you connectors spark when you plug the batts in. :)

nitrostarter 05.06.2009 12:23 PM

I love to scare them with the sparks at first. But when they see it jump out the holeshot and out of turn, they run and hide. :)

Lincpimp I need a LiPo expert's help.

I bought a Hyperion pack from a stock clearance sale, really a great deal. You know Hyperion is busy introducing their new G3 and trying to close out the old Enerland based packs. The pack is brand new but may have been in store for some time period, I found the pack has problem in cell matching:

Pack: HP-LVX4350-6S, 25~40C 4350mAh
I logged the charge/discharge curve using a EOS0720i hooked to my pc and found
cell 2\3\5 has an internal resistance of about 3mΩ
cell 1\4\6 has an internal resistance of over 15mΩ
in other words, my 6S pack has 3 good 25C cells and 3 poor 5C cell mixed together.
I figured this by calculating the voltage drop during charge pause(3 seconds every minute) and the voltage rise during discharge pause(3 seconds every minute), with same result.

the cells doesn't show too much difference in capacity, all around 3950mAh(set discharge threshold 3.0V/cell) which is obviously 10% lower than it's expected to be(4350mAh).

So my questions are:
* is this problem due to long storage time ? capacity loss and IR increase.
* is there any way I can "activate" the bad cells to improve the IR ? something like high current impact\ slight overcharge/overdischarge or heat/freeze the pack?

Thanks in advance.

Hardstyle 05.07.2009 05:56 PM

lincpimp, have you checked my lipos yet 2 Robbe and 2 MA?
