Oh well, just got my 2220 back from Neu, totally rebuilt. For those who have never seen the 2200 series, here are some pictures.

damn and i thought my 1717 looked big:lol:

Cody.McP 05.07.2010 07:29 PM

Seriously.. that thing is HUGE! It looks like it'd be able to push me around...

thomatrix 05.10.2010 07:57 AM

Hi Mike. It's been a while since you've posted any news. Could you let us know why the kit is still not available since you posted a while back that it should be out in a week?

RC-Monster Mike 05.10.2010 10:43 AM

Time has been the enemy, Thomatrix(and others). I promise the kits will be ready soon.

thomatrix 05.10.2010 11:03 AM

OK. Thanks Mike for getting back.

Electric Eel 05.10.2010 07:38 PM

Hey, Mike. Any idea of the cost yet? How about a few new pictures?

suicideneil 05.10.2010 09:28 PM

Of bikini babes modelling (with) the kit?

simplechamp 05.10.2010 10:32 PM

Yeah, why aren't there any RC-Monster babes? Anyone care to volunteer their girlfriend?

Electric Eel 05.11.2010 08:57 AM

Just like the Acer bearings girls! He could do the whole calendar thing with the babe of the month.

bk2basx 05.19.2010 06:28 PM

I don't wanna see this thread fade away Mike have you got any news for us. Really looking forward to the conversion

thomatrix 05.20.2010 08:58 AM

I too am wondering what is going on. I have had a baja waiting over 6 months now for this conversion kit. I was initially a tad bit optimistic so I ripped out tank, motor and everything to have it ready.

Mike what is keeping it from being released, what kind of timeframe are we looking at, do you have an idea of the price range we are going to cough up for it, etc, etc, etc?

Throw us a bone here :)

To the top!

Electric Eel 05.23.2010 04:17 AM

Here is a video of Mike's kit run with a Neu 2215 750KV and a Hydra HV 240. Just something to hold your interest while we wait for it to show up in the store.

FG101C 05.23.2010 05:43 AM

Thanks for the video. I was trying to decide on whether to convert mine or not, I will be converting my Baja, that was pretty amazing.

thomatrix 05.23.2010 08:10 AM

That video must have been from one of the first kits around. I have no clue as to how much will have changed by now but some must have as this clip is 8+ months old...

Man I wish we had these kits out soon. Peak season here now and I had hoped all winter to be racing a brushless large scale baja.

thomatrix 05.27.2010 12:42 PM

Any news Mike?

RC-Monster Mike 05.27.2010 01:18 PM

I will have the 1st batch finished by this time next week - I should get them mostly complete over the holiday weekend. :)

thomatrix 05.28.2010 12:46 PM

Great news Mike. Probably comes as no surprise that I have been waiting for this to happen for a while.

Let us know in here when it's available on your e-shop.

fastbaja5b 06.02.2010 12:09 AM

..so is there a reliable power system for this available? The 23cc in my wife's 5B is getting tired (having issues holding a good idle, crankshaft has play in it)

thomatrix 06.03.2010 01:26 PM

Hi Mike,
did you get any kits ready for sale during the weekend?

RC-Monster Mike 06.03.2010 01:45 PM

almost, Tom. Got a few hours work left on the first batch - tomorrow or Saturday they will be showing in the store for sale. :)

thomatrix 06.03.2010 01:54 PM

Fantastic. I'll be watching the shop!

bryan 06.04.2010 06:07 PM

I see Mikes kits are now available!!

Electric Eel 06.04.2010 06:24 PM

Just ordered mine. Can't wait. Got a Hydra HV 240 to try until the Ice comes along. Any day now, right Patrick?

thomatrix 06.04.2010 06:51 PM

Ordered two kits :)

Now we just need them large scale CC ICE ESC's!

Overdriven 06.04.2010 11:48 PM

I expect build pics + vids from both you guys. We've been waiting long enough, don't leave us out of the loop now! Lol

FG101C 06.05.2010 03:36 AM

Ok, the kit looks great, my question is on the motor. Will a 1527 be enough or is a 22xx series almost required?

I was thinking 8s, 725kv? What pinion would you suggest?

Still on the fence on converting the Baja I have. Main problem is gas or electric I still have not found a good spot to run it, but I can't get rid of it.

Ryu James 06.05.2010 03:42 AM

congrats Mike! glad to see this one roll out. and congrats to the happy new owners of the first official, factory like, brushless conversion kit for the baja 5b/5t. cant wait to see these in action. now, if it were up to me, HPI just needs to release a 4wd baja following Castles' release of the HV ICE Surface and life would be complete. one thing at a time i guess, right? cant ask for too much.

thomatrix 06.05.2010 04:34 AM

Mike,
Do you have any idea of the battery tray size for the batteries. I'd appreciate length and width.

I sort of tried to guess and measure them and got 90x170mm but I am quite uncertain if this is correct since I have not got the kit+motor+tray installed. I am using a 2215 btw if that has any impact.

Thanks

speedy 06.05.2010 07:53 AM

Hi !

Would a kb xl motor with 700kv and a turnigy 1000ahv esc be enough to use in a baja conversion ?

Kenny135 06.05.2010 01:51 PM

Will Mike's, Baja kit work with the Baja 5T or is it only for the 5B?

Sorry, no. That's a little bit too inefficient of a motor to run reliably in such a heavy vehicle.

the kit works in BOTH the 5b and 5t. Buy two!!

thomatrix 06.06.2010 06:18 AM

Did anyone know the size of that battery tray, so I can check if my batteries fit or I have to order new ones?

Thanks in advance.

speedy 06.06.2010 11:59 AM

Crap ! :)

so if i whant a good bl-setup for a baja 5b or an rampage mt i meed a neu 2230 motor and castle hydra 240hv esc ?
are 8s lipo enough to power a baja 5b and get the same or slightle better preformance than with the gas engine ? For the 4wd rampage i quess that 12s is the way to go ?

Fast5sRevo88 06.06.2010 01:47 PM

For the Baja 5b or 5t a 2215 or 2217 are more than enough. For a Rampage mt, a 2230 or larger is a must. Be warned though, i ordered a 2217 3 months ago and still havent seen it.

i ran 10s in my rampage tt conversion and it was more than enough power. wheelys and 55-60mph. i am sure 8s is enough for a baja cuz that is what Mike ran when testing but it all depends on what you are after. also, the 2230 isnt required as the 2215 does the trick just fine for the 5b or ramp tt. or any of the lehner 30xx series. but for the 5t or ramp mt i would go at least 2225 or lehner 3060.

FG101C 06.06.2010 02:10 PM

Lol, didn't realize the 22xx's were pushing $700.00.

I bought my 2215 for $425 at offshoreelectrics. They have a very good price on them.

Mike - could you please post the size of the battery tray? Thanks.
