Is it adapter or is replacement motormount?
Dejan |
It's an adapter in the photos. A replacement motor mount is surely possible though.
|
Adapter - msg mike.
Next batch of cc motors I believe will have 30 & 45mm spacing holes Castle conversion kit uses 30mm spacing. |
Patrick,
Placed order for the combo and conversion kit before Christmas, hoping they would start shipping this week. Can you share any insight? |

Thanx! |
Sorry if this has been posted, but what are the prices of the motor, esc and conversion kit? Are they all sold as a combo, or a la carte?

Thanx! |
Patiently waiting for the combo to hit the site...

I'd like to see the combo price. Can anyone post a direct link? In the meantime all of my distributors STILL do NOT have product on hand to ship out even after I paid in full already. This is getting beyond frustrating. The February RC Driver has a a full feature article on the complete system. I have customers coming in wanting to purchase the systems every day this last week and nothing.

Well, at least they started to update from the product pages, you can buy the ESC and the Motor, but seperate.
No sign indeed of a combo and no sign of their conversion kit seperate either. But its a start I guess :) but still, give em hell!!!:diablo:  |
Well according to Castle my XL shipped today  I have not received my e-mail with tracking info yet, but it's still great news

I want the whole combo right now too, really bad, but am going to wait until at least May.
I got one of the first MMM v1's back when they came out. We all know the problems alot of those had. I almost lost an entire truggy in it's meltdown. This was when a Polyquest 4s was $260.00, Tekno/Neu 1515 was $260.00 and the truggy was almost new. When the esc went the battery leads were melted off and were 1-2mm from touching each other, that would have really sucked. Now I won't run anything but Castle, they make the best product with the best price IMHO. My plan is to wait, see how things go, see what problems need/get fixed, if any, because no way am I going to watch $1500.00+ of Baja, esc, motor and batteries go up in flames. Hopefully there won't be any bugs, hopefully everything goes smooth as glass. I've ended up being a corporate "beta" tester one too many times to go for the first in line anymore. Can't wait to see pics of these beasts though, should be awesome. |
I'm planning on using two 4s 5000mah 35c packs. RC Driver was using the 150c maxamps packs. Even for a maxamps dealer those do not run cheap. two 35C gonna be ok? I personally run 30-40C in my 1/8th truggy. I have sold some 60C to customers and i just thought that was overkill. A customer wants what they want. Any opinions on this? I've now have multiple mamba xl on backorder.
|
RR, I'm going to use 2x 5000 4S 40C packs as well. I plan on backing down the packs to something lighter like the turnigy Nanotech 2650mah 45-90c packs. The beauty of the XL aside from 8S to me is the data logging. Once I have dialed the XL in for the performance I want, I'll have a real good idea of the capacity and C rating I'll need to keep the lipos happy and healthy :-)
P.s. 150C packs... right, maybe after I verify that number with the tooth fairy. |

The C ratings vary so much from manufacturer to manufacturer, that I don't feel comfortable saying that they will be good or not... but if they are good quality 35C packs, I would think they will be sufficient. |

The Mamba XL-HV will run up to 12S, but we are probably 3 months from release on the XL-HV. Thanx! Patrick |

COOL I see everything is online on the Castle website....
The whole combo: http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...rsion_kit.html Motor alone: http://www.castlecreations.com/products/2028_motor.html ESC alone: http://www.castlecreations.com/products/mamba_xl.html This is very exciting! althought I will wait and see the experiences posted on the board from the pics and films :) |
Thanks for all of the replys. 4s lipos hav been in short supply lately, I just order 55/19 gearing for the Baja that stays at the shop.
|
$650 is very cheep for a full kit, im very impressed with the price but i am waiting for the HV, any clue about how much more it will cost patrick?
|
Also, could we have a dimension for the recess in the battery "pad"? Just wondering what is the maxx size? I see that you list 8s 5000mah battery in the description, so I am guessing most of those avaialbe will fit?
Looks good, and a great deal on the combo. I am now looking for a baja roller... |
Quote:
Dimensions for 1 6500mah hyperion in mm: 160 length x 47 width x 46.6 height. Arc1k used a Maxamp 6500mah lipo with 51mm for height...and 2 of them fit well with the battery tray kit. So anything with a smaller mah will have smaller dimensions, and thus I suppose they would fit since the Castle conversion kit has no tray! ;) |
Riko, keep in mind that those dimensions don't include where the wires come out of the packs. 8 gauge wires aren't thin :-)
|
hmm that is true :)....however I got pictures of the 2 6500 mah packs IN the baja with the whole combo....if you want me to forward the message, pm me ;)
On the picture the wires stick out from the top in the open air, so it doenst actually has an influence on the dimensions so it seems |
This may be a dumb question but what is the lowest voltage you can run these on.
For instance could i run this on a 2s, 3s, 4s, etc. up to 8s lipo. Thanks, B-M |
2s up but not in a baja. :)
|
To add to what Arct1k said; the ESC itself can run down to a 2s, but it wouldn't be appropriate for a 1/5th scale vehicle. For one, the RPM would be so low on an appropriate motor, the truck would barely move. And if you did get any decent speed by changing the gearing or motor kv, the amp draw would be far too much for all of the components to handle.
By going up on voltage you can produce the same amount of wattage and with a lower amp draw. As an example, a motor that is pulling 2500 watts on an 8s LiPo, would equate to approximately 84 amps. The same amount of wattage on a 4s setup would be approximately 168 amps. This is calculated as Watts = Voltages times Amperage. So 2500 watts divided by 29.6 volts (8s) = 84 amps; and 2500 watts divided by 14.8 volts (4s) = 168 amps. Higher amp draw increases heat, wear on the batteries and increases the chances of over-stressing the motor, ESC and/or batteries. I would only recommend a 6-8s setup for the Mamba XL and 2028 on a Baja type vehicle. |
Probs should've mentioned that i am planning on running this in a XXL with a CC 1520 motor on 8s for some fun but mainly it'll be 4s lipo for me.
I just like to use massively overkill esc's in my cars. I usually get it set up with a normal esc then go for overkill. |
I too intend to use 1520 and Mabma XL esc in my Flux XXL size.
As MMM V3 keeps burning up on 6S.:gasp: |
Patrick,
Are you currently offering the 8mm bullets used with the XL kit? I don't see them on the site so I thought I would check to see if they will be coming soon? I wanted them for my batteries to make sure the connectors aren't a bottle neck, if they aren't available yet what do you recommend? Thanks |
