cells come off warm, bout the same as they come off my charger. I need more airflow, I dont have any holes in the shell at the moment.
|
UPDATE TIME
Fitted some new boots, trucks feels a lot more urgent now, wheelies a lot easier, i think it was spinning my tired bowties before. got a temp gun at last and after a normal run the motor came off at 155f , cells 110f and speedo 105f......... is that good? i have no idea. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/203.jpg |
Those temps sound good... Those new shoes are sexy!
|
Hot motor + cool esc & batts = undergeared, you can afford to gear up a little bit if you want to, but overall those are very good temps, especially for the nimhs; ones I used to run with the hvmaxx always came off a run scorching hot
For airflow, I would cut out the rest of front grill, then replace it with a fine mesh- lots of airflow + it looks like a real mesh grill = sexy. http://www.beatyourtruck.com/forum/i...ilies/cool.gif |
...damn thats sexy :D
...i have been getting higher temps with low-profile tires like that too so maybe keep that in mind...GREAT truck though...always impressive :D |
What would you probably get for that car, if you put it on eBay?
But that car looks sooooooooooooooooooooo cool. I'm planning to buy a Proxxon Mini Mill the end of the year, and HOPEFULLY HOPEFULLY I'll get a cool motor mount or something like that for my LST  And HOPEFULLY it'll look as nice as yours, but that won't come out I think  |
Had a pretty big crash last week due to several factors:
1) big power 2) very grippy tyres 3) me pushing it. It grips soooo much with these new tyres im not used to it, I've gone back to 100k in the center diff now to give me some control, now it will accelerate flat or pop a wheelie if I stab the throttle, perfect! The front tyres do baloon a bit more than I would like but its either that or lower the power on the MMM........ na. Short vid of me tentatively getting used to the new diff setup! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsyVrGZ7DDA |
The truck looks awesome man... Nice work.
|
Nice and controllable in the vid. Any nasty carnage as a result of the crash?
|
bent my wheelie bar (10mm thick aluminium) and snapped a cvd axle, pretty heavy crash. Made me feel a bit ill actually, like i hurt it, stupid i know but its been with me a long time and I felt like I had mistreated it! Thought the RSPCT would come and get me
|
Great Video, glad you're happy with your new setup..:)
|
 I know the feeling, hence why Im planning on a much cheaper & smaller vehicle to be my basher, these damn maxxes are too expensive to bash them about like I'd like too.
|
I have just finished my new chassis
|
I was wondering if you were working on that after you finished RoboCain, you've been quiet for a little while...
Pictures please!  |
Yes.... pictures !!!
|
Pah, too slow- I cheated:

Hello mate, hope you are well.
Been driving my truggy a lot last summer, the maxx felt like it would roll to easy when I went back to it. So the new chassis is to: -Get the weight low -Extend the wheelbase to 360mm -Allow the 6S lipo to be fitted ( I was using NIMH last year) -Important one this, have the diff easily accessable, I want to be able to get the prop shafts in and out of the truck quickly without taking the front and/or rear ends off the chassis OR changing the pinion mesh. -Be lighter than the last chassis. I took some inspiration from the UE razorback chassis, you will see the similarities. Main chassis plate is 4mm thick, milled to 2mm in some areas. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/1.JPG the top "deck" is 6mm thick, I cut this from a plate by hand, it took days. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/2.JPG these are to hold the diff, they were hard to make as they have to be perfect, easy with a cnc machine, not so easy for me. They are sided and keyed so they slot together only one way. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/3.JPG Motor mount is 8mm thick, 2 x M4 from under the chassis and an M3 through the top deck. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/4.JPG Underside of the chassis, recesses for the skids. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/5.JPG Spine on and motor mount, also the backs of the diff mounts, they are held in place from the other side by 2 screws. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/6.JPG Diff in and tighten up. The spur pulls away form the motor on disassembly so the motor can remain in place with mesh undisturbed. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/7.JPG rear in place http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/8.JPG recesses here for the straps to be clamped. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/9.JPG |
Tight for space here, servo mount and esc tray. Also note the slight recess on the top deck for the motor, it sits as close as physically possible to the centre line and 0.5mm from the chassis.
http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/10.JPG fixings to the bulks. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/11.JPG http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/12.JPG All together http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/13.JPG lipo trays installed, 3s on each side. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/14.JPG http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/15.JPG http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/16.JPG http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/17.JPG http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/emaxx/2011chassis/18.JPG |
I love it, so elegant and sophisticated, some really clever features for ease of maintenance- definitely looks like a few top-end truggies do regards battery and motor layout, should handle nicely.
Now you just have to sell the concept to Mike and he can start knocking out chassis to take the place of the now defunct Gorillamaxx. :mdr: |
Man, that is one sweet ride. That centerbrace is the shiznit.
|
:surprised: Exquisite work Candyman... this thing is just beautiful... I agree with Neil... you should get that thing on the market man...
they are still quite a few maxx fans out there still... and with the 'truggy' configuration it will definitely be an easy sell... Great work, thanks for sharing Alien |
Thanks chaps, it was a difficult build, ive still got to squeeze my electronics in it yet.
|
Thats like looking at art. Good work! Lipo trays on Maxx Bling though? What is the world coming to?
|
hey, very nice job on the truck, what heatsink is that on your motor and what size is it?, l really want one now lol
|
WOW... i wish i had machining skills like u do, but thenagain, im only 16 lol maybe in the future...
|
I'm not a maxx-person at all, but this car I really like:yes:

makes me want to bring new life to my Maxx... |

Looking good!
Makes me want to get my maxx back up and running again. |
Damn! that's looking great Candyman... it seems to be very stable under power... with 6s, it flies!... nice work man... i am also inspired in getting my truck up and running again...
Alien |
That thing is a bullet!
|
Accelerates like a rocket, lipos are so much nicer than nimhs aren't they :mdr:
|
Seeing Maxx Bling is what got me started with my brushless addiction. It's good to see it continue to grow.
