After over a year, I am back at it! Does anyone know where I can find a front Ti skid plate?

JERRY2KONE 11.13.2010 08:56 PM

Seen

I have seen them up for sale in here, at UE, and on Ebay over the last few months. I managed to pick up a couple sets in here myself, but with 8 trucks in our family I am not letting them go. Have you checked out GA Great Assemblies R/C? Not sure if they still sell them or not, but they made 2mm and 3mm titanium skids for the Maxx truck. There are also the HCR Hard Core Racing set, but those are pretty rare these days. You can post up on the UE forum if you are a member there, and I am sure that MJBE has a couple of sets in his collection that he may be selling. He recently moved from Alaska to Idaho, and decided to take a bunch of his UE SuperMaxx shelf queens off the wall and part them out. He has like 6 or 8 complete trucks that he is in the process of breaking down and selling all of the parts off. Good luck with your quest/search. Oh and finding anyone willing to sell just the front skid will be difficult.

Respectfully, Jerr Hill Seoul, Korea.

Kcaz25 11.13.2010 10:06 PM

Mark good to see you around! There are 4 sets on ebay! Get a set. I do have a front skid I haven't used every since I got my HCR Mutant chassis but its on my buddy truck waiting for decent electronics.

Skid sets have actually been plentiful both on UE BST and Ebay recently if the opposite was true I might sell mine to you for cheap.

While your on Ebay check out that Duh Proline DominatorMaxx. Pretty sick right? I think MJBE must have put it up. I think he has two.

Cool,
Zack

George16 11.13.2010 11:40 PM

Good to see back Mark. I've just been back myself and we'll be headed out again next week.

RCShocker 11.14.2010 09:55 AM

Wow, I just checked your profile Mark, then saw you were back on last night.

Welcome back bud  Bout time, I know it's been quite a hiatus for you.

Gee 11.14.2010 01:59 PM

Glad to see the build is still going after all this time. lol A year is a long time, hope all is well with you and the family.

Look you also got Doug to come out of the woodwork. You know those crawler guys sneak in and out real slow. Don't even know they are looking over your shoulder until they say something.

Good to have you back Mark.

mkrusedc 11.14.2010 02:13 PM

Wow, guys I really appreciate the welcome. I might get some pics up tonight.

Kcaz25 11.14.2010 02:38 PM

Great.

mkrusedc 11.17.2010 01:47 AM

Well here goes. This is the rear end. I had a little burr on one of the stub axles that need a little smoothing with a polishing wheel. I finally got the bearing on. RacerX setbacks and a monoblock....

George16 11.17.2010 01:58 AM

Very nice. What shock oil weight are you using?

Vic 11.17.2010 01:04 PM

Awesome truck.

I am also interested in a monoblock extension. Did yours fit well on the FLM chassie? Which driveshaft do you use in the back and does it fit into the FLM drivecups (if it is the UE one)?

Thanks

Vic

Thanks for the compliment. The drive shaft came with the mono IIRC. It was a little loose. I have used cup srings in the past but this time I am trying a small rubber bushing in the bottom of the cup for a better fit.

ZippyBasher 11.18.2010 02:07 AM

I just Mono'd my 3905 FLM and I used a Savage XL dogbone in the rear.142mm Just fits with no play...

Edit $7.50 shipped on ebay.

Vic 11.18.2010 08:34 AM

3905 is the new brushless version...isn't it?

@mkrusedc: And do you use the FLM drivecups which come with the chassie?

Now I see that you use the older and smaller version of the chassie. I use the new one which is a bit longer. OMG. Dont ´which dogbone I have to buw...:whip:

Hope that helps.

I just told you man, Savage XL rear dog bone 142mm... Fits perfect on the new (3905) FLM chassis WITH MONOBLOCK . I used FLM drive cups for transmission and Monster GT Cups for my diffs. 8mm bore.

mkrusedc 12.18.2010 08:17 PM

I just ran it for the first time in over a year!! I can't believe the neu battery. I tried to charge it but it had a full charge so I just put a balancer on it, plug it in, and everything ran fine. I still have to fix all the tire alignments. I just could not wait. :)

Time to change my avatar and find a new body:party:

ZippyBasher 12.19.2010 02:34 AM

Sweet! :intello:

Whats the wheelbase sitting at now with the setbacks and Mono?

Gonna need a long body. Maybe the Xtm Mammoth>? I got the Proline F-650 but I do not have Set-backs.

It is 41.5 cm stub axle to stub axle.

mkrusedc 06.21.2011 07:18 PM

All good things come to those who wait. I finally found a Titanum skid plate. I wanted 3mm but I figure I had better grab the 2 mm while I had the chance.

Next is 6s power. I think my 5s Neu is shot. It did not suvive the hiatus.

TexasSP 06.21.2011 11:08 PM

I was beginning to think you had died Mark.....

Good to see you back! Truck is looking nice. I sold off my 3mm ti skids several years back and realized I let them go too cheap.

_paralyzed_ 06.22.2011 12:28 AM

Good to see you back. Hobbyking has some 3s hardcase packs, do one on each side and keep things balanced! http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=14085

mkrusedc 06.22.2011 08:53 AM

Thanks guys. Not dead just old with responsibilites. Ands thanks for the batt link. It save me some searching.

Kcaz25 06.22.2011 10:28 AM

Looks great Mark!! I knew it would be awesome!

The funniest thing happened to me I'm broke and getting married while in undergrad!! I wish I had never heard about the hobby!! I love my Maxx, but it would be so incredible to have $4000 or so right now. I'm picking up the engagement ring today! So I think as far as hands on goes I'm probably getting out of the hobby until I have kids.

-Zack

mkrusedc 06.22.2011 11:15 AM

Congrats!! I remember the pic of you "showing off" to some girls. Jeesh time flies. Get the kids involved and then you will have an excuse to play again. Wish you the best Zack.

Mark

JERRY2KONE 06.22.2011 01:11 PM

Congratulations

Well congratulations on your addition to your homestead. Getting married can be a very good thing as long as you let her get her own way 100% of the time. Even so it does not mean that you have to give up on R/C. It just gives you more options to chose from when you wake up each day. There is nothing wrong with taking a break from the hobby when money is low, but you will hit on better times and get the chance to play once again. Life is too short to be without playtime for yourself. If your wife loves you than she will also want to make you happy and give you some personal space as well. Don't overthink marriage. Life is good.

Kcaz25 06.24.2011 02:19 AM

Thanks guys!! She is the bomb! And she said yes!!

I do love your comments Jerry! I'm sure of it... you are one of the most thoughtful people that I know.

Mark, maybe you'll get a metal servo horn?

-Zack

_paralyzed_ 06.24.2011 03:07 AM

Awesome to hear Zack! I've definitely added to my maxx knowledge by your trial and error. Thanks for being rough on stuff!

Take it or leave it- I suggest being engaged, living as though you were married for a minimum of one year. If you can last through that you have a great shot at a successful marriage. And if you can't, well that speaks for itself. Getting caught up in the whirlwind of emotion of a new relationship and progressing too fast is the downfall of many marriages.

But it's your life! Keep RCM informed and we will support you no matter what. And give you shit at the same time.:na: Peace man!

mkrusedc 06.24.2011 09:23 AM

LOL, Zack you are the second person to mention my steering setup. Neil did not like my servo saver. I guess that is next. I did title this thread, "...almost done."

Dj_Sparky 06.24.2011 09:44 AM

Can you use monoblocks with Integy bulk/FLM chassi? And where can you pick up those monoblocks?

suicideneil 06.24.2011 12:38 PM

You know how fussy I am Mark..

Yes, they work with any bulks and chassis- they are UE monoblocks so have to be bought from UE:

http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...ore/13236.html

( who dont sell outside of the USA ) unless you get lucky and find one on ebay or a forum for sale. Don't forget the extended rear driveshaft that you will need to find or make..

Bah. I live in Norway, so that's a no go. Are there any other parts like this for the Maxx? Or is there a guide on how to make one at home? Just need to extend it a bit.

Sure about that?
I can enter my adress and country for shipping and it seems they realised that credit cards are a valid payment option.
So I don't see any reasons why you couldn't order from them?

suicideneil 06.24.2011 05:27 PM

http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/orders.shtml

Quote:

International PayPal/Credit Card orders will not be accepted. Too much international fraud. When it happens we have no recourse and CC company just takes the money. While PayPal does have "international verified" they will only back it if it's shipped to a "confirmed address." They do not confirm international addresses. Catch 22, until they resolve this I will not accept international PayPal orders.

International money orders are not secure either - too many cases of fraud and again we have no recourse.

Wire transfer is available to international customers. Contact me at MonsterMaxx@att.net for transfer information.
You might be able to place an order, but I imagine it will be canceled and refunded once he knows where the order is from as-such. I had to ask another member in the USA to buy the parts for me & ship them to me in the UK, then send them the money- it was the only way to get UE parts directly from UE.

No-one else makes a chassis extension like this, at best you can buy an extended chassis but nothing that is longer than the stock 'new' emaxx chassis ( FLM 3905 chassis for example, or the FLM 3906 extended chassis which is about the same length as the new emaxx one too ).

mkrusedc 06.25.2011 04:29 PM

I forgot how fun this truck can be! Old tire glue + 5 mins on newly charged 5s NeuEnergy batteries = unglued tires:gasp: Oh and an almost completely aluminum truck with a UE monoblock extension and UE RacerX setback arms still flips:whistle:

Ok so I have been away for about a year. I need a stronger steering servo, a wheelie bar and a body that will fit. Any suggestions?

suicideneil 06.25.2011 04:48 PM

What's your budget?

Right now many guys are using the hitec 7995tg ( ~$90, 333in/oz ) or the nice Savox 1256tg ( ~$70, 270in/oz ), though there are loads of options really- some really nice HV servos around from Turnigy ( hobbking.com ) which are really cheap and powerful, just means running an external BEC to power them with ~7v of juice...

mkrusedc 06.27.2011 10:34 AM

Thanks Neil, that will give me a starting point.

JoFreak 06.27.2011 10:47 AM

I'm using the HS-5955TG and I really like it.
It's the predecessor of the 7955TG, same muscle, slower brains as far as I know.

mkrusedc 11.29.2013 11:03 PM

Back Again! After couple year hiatus.... Looking for some new batteries...5s or 6s...what is current???

Kcaz25 11.30.2013 12:14 AM

Mark! I'm glad to see you back! I can no longer convince myself to buy top of the line batteries anymore (too expensive, plus I have a wife) I have two "35c-70c" turnigy nanotechs both are 4s. I really like them so far 10 runs on each. They aren't as good as 35c hyperions but they are pretty good. They always take a full 5000mah after a discharge. no puffing. I do recommend 5s, but you already know all of this.

I bought a new losi buggy. I love the simplicity and they are supermaxx tough.
