My only problem with that is how will ig get my speed back, it throws all my ratios in the trash

What spur/pinion are you using right now? I'm too lazy to read the rest of the posts.

Same here. I'm using a 51T spur with a 20T pinion on my gmaxx with 8 spider diff gears.

I just checked (because I am senile and forget:oops:) that is the gearing I have also 51/20. With that gearing and 5s I cannot keep untaped tires on my rims. They just rip off. :gasp: If speed is what you want that setup will not let you down.

yanked the maxx apart, found out that the diff was not dead, my rear cvd came loose, and the sound was the setscrew in the cup jumping on the pinion shaft

FYI, with hybrid/ UE diffs you only need to use a pinion 1 tooth larger to get the same ratio as with stock diffs (2-3 teeth smaller on the spur works too).
