Anyway, I have made up my mind for which towers to get.... getting the New Era aluminum Monster GT shock towers - http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi...=&part_id=1940

However, I have something really cool in mind for them. And for those of you that know (Rawfuls....), DO NOT TELL ANYONE! :lol: I will post pictures of the modification to the towers once it's finished. However, it will be very cool, and as a hint, it's something that some of you wanted to see done before. Have fun guessing. :na:

Depending on how much you already have into it, maybe you could cut your losses and sell the E-Maxx and buy a Monster GT roller to convert. They are great trucks, fewer weak points and problems than a Maxx out of the box. :great:

Well I currently have RPM everything except rear arms, single motor plate and gear cover, and traxxas turnbuckles. Not to far into building the E-Maxx but it's currently out of commission, I snapped the thing in half! Broke the chassis, front bulkhead, front skid, and steering bellcrank. I landed nose first from about 7' up all the weight straight down on the front tires. Thinking of going with the Fast Lane chassis, think I'm far enough into the build up to stay with it. Still sticking to my plan with it and not going for any serious speed, keeping it to 30MPH or less.

Small update, doing a small design change to my design change. :mdr: I should have pictures tomorrow night, but a hint will be that it's easier to do than my previous design change idea, and will distribute the weight better.

Well I got my motor mount finished, but no pictures tonight, I sprayed it with clear-coat and its in my garage drying, so I'll get pictures in the morning.

What I have done is eliminate 1 extra part from the entire assembly, turning the motor mount, top plate, and 1 of the center diff mounts into a single piece, for a 2 piece design. I originally planned on welding on a piece of 1/4'' plate to the bottom, using the same bearing retaining plate design I used with the current setup, and drilling and threading the 1/4'' plate, as well as using tabs that attach to the upper section of the chassis, but that just seemed over-complicated and not really necessary, so instead I welded on a piece of 10ga (to keep the weight down a bit over more 3/16'' without compromising any strength), and drilled 2 holes through it, not threaded as there will be a nut on the end of the screws going through, and decided not to use tabs that mount to the upper section of the chassis since there isn't really a need for them and it would look cleaner without them.

I was also lucky enough to have drilled the perfect sized hole in the motor mount plate the first time around, as the bearing fits in with no slop. I then welded on a piece of 14ga with a smaller hole to retain the diff bearing. I also filled in the 4 holes in the motor plate from the previous design and ground them smooth, and did the same with the top plate holes, then drilled 2 new ones slightly farther back to prevent the center diff from being able to walk back and fourth in the bearing holes. The result was pretty good IMO. So post up, let me know what you think!
