It's basically an upgraded E-Maxx, similar to the way the T-Maxx was upgraded, except it's waterproof and doesn't have the new Talon tires.
No e-revo, no brushless.... |
The tranny looks liek a single spd, and eliminates alot of the slop in the orig tranny w/ the dog gears. They have spacers for a 2spd add-on.
It has 4 bolts for the chassis, presumably 4mm. The nice thing would be if it would fit onto the revo, put the motor over the shocks and open the motor side back up for batts or electronics. the spur looks to be 32p still tho. I like the batt holders if they work. Been dreaming up something along these lines, but velcro does work really well. A roller would be nice, but I don't see it. Nothing else is. they leave you to ebay. :) I'm sure I could break te driveline. They should have let me test it. :) |
Anyone notice the caster clips as well? Not like the revo, but tis something. Too bad its not a captured oin setup tho.

Quite alot of new parts, looks good to me! I will have to get one as soon as they are available!
Did you guys see the twin velineon setup they had! Wonder how hot that got during testing! If you look in the accessories section the single motor plate and gear cover looks very interesting. The fact that they are there means that there will be a single motor 4s vxl emaxx soon. I do not see a 6s system coming out from them. It may have the capability, but we all know that a motor that is optimised for 4s is going to spin too fast and run hot on 6s. Unless they make it 5s compatible, that would be more likely. Something similar to an 8xl would run fine on 4s or 5s. Plus it would be setup to run some sort of off-the-shelf nimh pack. This new emaxx takes 7 cell packs, and that is what traxxas are setting all of their specs to. It will be slow on 12 cells, wonder if that evx2 can handle 16 cells? They do list a bigger battery hold down as an option! |
I think they are going to sell a lot of these. Maybe there is still a e-revo conversuion in the works.
|
I wonder if those ball bearings are waterproof too. This was my main concern when driving in snow. They do rust quite fast to the point where they do not spin any more.
It definitively looks better suited for brushless than the old one. |
I'll be buying one of these. I thoroughly enjoyed my E-Maxx in stock form and I'm sure this will be no exception.
|
I think they did a nice job on it. Just looking at the new parts (tranny/slipper/steering/battery trays/even the new reciever) makes me look forward to the chop shops on Ebay. Not bad at all.
I agree with the comment made earlier. A full up brushless Revo would have been too much money for mass market sales. 95% of their sales are to young teen's that are pretty much breakin' the parents bank just getting an Emaxx. I wonder how many kids are going to drown these "water proof" systems. |
Possibly a good winter snow basher in its stock form on 5s a123. Its got me thinkin about it.
|
I wonder if UE will start making parts for this ?.
|
Yeah, waterproof does not meen fool proof!
I am sure they will have instructions on how to dry and maintain the emaxx if you run it in water. I hate getting my rc vehicles wet or muddy just because I can't stand cleaning them. I hate nitro for that reason too, sticky, dirty mess! Nice to know that the electronics won't crap out if they get spalshed, I have accidentally gone in a few ditches before:whistle: I do like the increased chassis space, nice of them to move the tranny forward and turn it around too. This will make going brushless even easier. The center driveshafts look very strong, and hopefully the diffs will hold up too. I would like to convert one and try to keep it as light as possible, worked with my xtra light pede, I never break anything on that truck. I am sure that we will see a vxl4-5 setup with a l-xl sized motor in the near future. If those battery trays can handle 8 cell packs then it should be good for 5s! 4s lipo and 14 cells are about the same, so we know it will be good for 4s, and traxxas always allow for bigger batteries to be put in, so 5s is not a stretch, it would be nice if the esc could handle 6s though. On a side note, the new villian boat with the evx2 can apparently handle 14 cells too. I almost bought one, but do not like the plastic hull, I have other brushless boats and they have fiberglass hulls, which are alot better. |
i really like it!

I wonder how much this will cost in the shops? Looking at the Gmaxx, I believe my truck is better for BL, but that new tranny....hmm.... all kinds of thoughts floating around my tiny mind. Interesting to see the twin steering servo setup ( stole my idea), but the Proline-esc bell crank is a nice touch, as are the battery trays/hold-downs. Maybe I should just get a couple VXLs and run them on 9 cells each; 50mph is fast enough for me.... probably.

Looks like BrianG will have to ad another ratio to the calculator, since the specs say 18.67:1 fd (old one was 17.97:1), in the exploded views it looks like it has 19t pinions stock (old one was 18t) and a 61t spur (old one 66t), so assuming the revo spec diffs are the same ratio as revo diffs then the transmission has to have a ratio of ~2.0432:1 (old one is 1.722*:1 in second). Something to think about....or not.
|
Yeah, I'll add the new emaxx ratios when it becomes more mainstream.
I don't know what to think about the new maxx really. Personally, I would've liked to see an even lower CG by putting the motor and electronics on one side and then all the batteries on the other. Of course, I'm thinking lipo cells here, not NiMH. The motor mount on the tranny looks wrong - just cockeyed enough to be an aesthetic irritation. The "Revo" diffs seem to have an added plate internally. Wonder what that's about? IMO, they should have at least used an Al cup to prevent flexing. The slipper is a nice addition. No more trying to hunt down a slipper that'll handle the torque of BL! Nice to see they went with a better steering mechanism while allowing the use of a high torque single steering servo. And the "Revo spec" shafts and pillow ball setup is nice. Hmmm. I don't see myself trading in my revo for this new emaxx anytime soon... |
