fantastic effort Shaun,

may i suggest that you get the post office to hold your packages when they arrive until you collect it if you know that you're not going to be home when it's delivered. thats what i always do.

you need a better name for such a phenomenal truggy. Battle Truck is just toooo boring.

one last thing though,

Thanks Linc,
I'm not sure about the 5th scale yet; I just know that is my next build / challenge. IE to build the badest 1/5th on the web.. I just want to be the first guy with “E” 1/5th and mini gun.. LOL.LOL..

Hey Lito!,
Yes that is the one thing you can always count on me for. IE learning from my mistakes...LOL.LOL.. The problem I have is most of the time I'm the first time order, something weird or out of the ordinary, so they will only ship it to the credit card address.. So in a way I'm SOL.. :rules:

What’s up Ryu James..

I know you DO!! I don’t doubt that for a second!.. You are defiantly spending some serious coin, but on the plus side you’ve got some killer / BAD ASS builds to show for it.. So did you take make advise and get a XT8 for your Truggy build or what ??..

TDC57 11.08.2008 06:33 AM

Check out the new toys.. LOL.LOL

My Landmines!. (My boy (12) told me I'm the coolest DAD!).. When he saw them and my daughter (8) just rolled here eyes and said (whatever keeps you happy).. I’ve got some great kids!.. Hopefully they will make great parents one day!

My Bomb shelter / fire pit I test all my stuff in.. LOL.LOL

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_3969.jpg

After it’s first explosion.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_3970.jpg

Builders Note:
They lied!!! These don’t engage at 3lbs as clearly stated in the product description! (bastards), they fire off at 8lbs. This is a big problem especially since I only put out 5lbs per wheel now.. OOoo well it’s nothing some lead weights on the inside of the rims wont solve. The pisser is, I’ll have to add a total of 12 lbs to the tires (front and rear) every time I use the land mines!.. That sucks.. / or IE it’s not worth spending $120+ plus for a landmines.. (FYI) Don’t Do IT!! please learn from my mistake!..

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_3971.jpg

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_3985.jpg

A quick shoot of the arsenal / film props. (FYI) I'm borrowing a shotgun & a pistol from the neighbors… so I apologize for not having them in the shoot. Still looking at all this and the town built, it should hopefully top my first video!.. Bottom line, I’ve got two ways it will turnout!, Either way cool are a fricken disaster, either way you get view it, so it kind of win – win for you!..

TDC57 11.08.2008 06:34 AM

Forward Progress still continues!..

SSOOOOOoooooo after consuming large amount of alcohol tonight I was able to gain the confidence required to cut up my body to accommodate for the grenade launcher and please note!! I still have the skull eyes glowing HHooo, HHHoooo, HHhhooooo.. WHO’S THE MAN!!!

And I finally got my shocks all worked out! (What a huge pain in the A$$), after trying several combinations, I finally ended up with this one:

Front:
Original XT8 rear shocks with 2 springs (front XT8 & rear XT8 Blue) and 5/8” of spacers. Believe it or not this combo works great with the weight! And still gives me plenty of suspension clearance.

Rear:
808 rear shocks. Purple springs, with the spring cup tightened all the way down and using ¼” spacers. Again, this combination gave me the best results.

Builders Note: (PLEASE!!!)
Never attempt to run this shock setup on your Truggy!! It’s SSsoooooo wrong it’s pathetic!! But for my needs it works great!..

I was able to repair my rear smoke system, got to love JB weld!.. LOL.LOL

And I also completed up the wiring (again) for my rockets (wish me luck!) This has not gone well!! But I'm feeling like maybe tomorrow is my DAY!! (Hay!, I can dream cant I) LOL.LOL

Have a great weekend everybody!, I’ll post RD (research and development) video of the grenade launcher, landmines & rockets before the end of the weekend. If all goes well (it wont) but if it does, I’ll be filming next week!..

Shaun.

P.S.
I still need volunteers to shoot at the truck during the filming ( Any takers) ???
I also need a NEW NAME for the Truck!!! As prevesloly pointed out “Battle Truck” is boring!!! So if you got PLEASE pitch them!...

Thanks Guys…

TDC57 11.10.2008 01:49 AM

Well the weather was not conducive to rocket testing , but I did have some great success with the grenade launcher :yipi:, I wish I could say the same for the fricken landmines :diablo:

Testing video:

Thanks for your time everyone..

Have a great week..

The grenade launcher is sweet! :yipi:

BL_RV0 11.11.2008 11:04 AM

Second that. Really sucks to hear about the landmines.

TDC57 11.18.2008 10:27 PM

I think I got the land mines worked out (?) further testing still needs to be completed. However the rear net is going NO WHERE FAST!!!! I’ve got some great failed video I should post of disappointments and unforeseen mishaps (IE) I now owe my neighbor a new side window :surprised: :lol:(long story).. got to love the RD phase!!!

Have a great one everybody!..

TDC57 11.18.2008 10:31 PM

Flamethrower! (Yes I'm going there!)

:yipi: :intello:  :rules: :oh:
Ok I figured out how to do it (kind a) but I need suggestions on the pilot light / source of initial flame..

I'm thinking at the moment of going to REI tonight to review camping stoves and other existing out of the box possibilities, but as usual you guys have great suggestions so please feel free to shoot them out so to speak.

Hopefully I’ll have a mock up ready by this weekend for testing..

Thanking you all in advance your time and great suggestions..

pasan 11.19.2008 02:49 AM

Any plans to make it autonomous? It would be interesting to see a toy truck going on a destructive rampage all on it's own :D

thephilonator 11.19.2008 03:33 AM

how are you making the flame thrower?

if you're using gas or something as the fuel, then think back to your childhood days (or mine atleast) when you (or I) ran around with aerosol cans and a match.

so just stick a match infront of the outlet for the fuel.

suicideneil 11.19.2008 01:52 PM

I used a lighter rather than matches... did we all do that kinda thing when we were young? :mdr:

I was thinking a more long-lasting flame was needed though, rather than a match- something like one of those long necked lighters for lighting gas stoves or ovens. Just clamp the trigger down once its lit and mount the flame end just infront the nozzle of the flame thrower...

supralover72 11.19.2008 02:11 PM

WTF IS THIS MADNESS!!! I LEAVE AND WE BUILD WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION!!!!

Lol, that is one of THE coolest projects ever, and it's masterfully done. Good work X10.

And for a name, you have to call it Duke Nukem, and put an "I've got BALLZ of STEEL" sticker on it.

I might of missed part of this. Just scanned through trying to catch up. Are you looking for a pilot light that is already ignited or a spark. Didn't see what the flamethower is made out or what fuel your using.

A glow plug and igniter might do the job. I've never left the glow plug in the ignitor for long. But is should last a while. I suppose you don't need an ignitor is you just hook it up to some DC to start it burning. You can make switch on your RC and ingnite the glow plug when you need it then turn the juice off when you done.

Isn't California already on fire?

cwallis 11.19.2008 06:40 PM

Like this:

or this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNVRZjeVgZM

Most people it looks use a lit candle not the best idea, but effective.

JERRY2KONE 11.19.2008 07:28 PM

Igniter.

I to was thinking along the lines of using a glow plug powered by a seperate battery with some kind of switch that you could turn on and off when you need it. Your fuel source could be all kinds of things like licsol, or propane, or almost any kind of pressurized flamable gas with a servo controlled trigger system. You sure are having fun with this Shaun. War monger!!! Whater you come up with think safety. I would hate to see all of this hard work go up in flames due to over looking some small detail. Good luck with that TDC. I am still wondering what in the hell you plan to do with this truck???:oh: Weapons of mass destruction?? that is funny stuff.

thephilonator 11.20.2008 02:19 AM

i think the vid with the tank would be easier to do, just get a big aerosol can -like the cooking oil in the vid or what ever- and stick a lighter infront of it. to trigger it, mount a servo above the can that pushes the spray thing down.

Arct1k 11.20.2008 09:12 AM

I'd go mechanical with a stripped down battery powered piezo lighter hooked up to a servo...

brushlessboy16 11.23.2008 04:00 PM

or a servo pushing on a grill igniter might work.

What's_nitro? 11.23.2008 09:17 PM

Anti-matter flamethrower..... :diablo:

Seems like you would need a servo on each side of the switch to do that.

Gee 11.27.2008 07:41 PM

Haven't heard anything from Shaun in a while. He didn't get caught trying to run some new weapons across the border did he?

thephilonator 11.28.2008 06:05 AM

so thats where he's getting alll these weapons from:surprised::gasp::lol:

you got to be REALLY careful running this truck.

on a bad day you could stab yourself, destroy your shin, cover yourself in paint, get hit by rockets, get lost in smoke, get hit by a net, get attavked by a paint grenade and now burn yourself/others/property/etc.

BL_RV0 11.28.2008 02:01 PM

I know Shaun was saying that his wife was nagging him about some remodel thing, that may be why he's been offline for so long...

MetalMan 11.29.2008 02:46 AM

I just saw him today, he was buying a servo to actuate his flame thrower some how.

BL_RV0 11.29.2008 12:29 PM

Good. Did you ask why he wasn't posting? How about if he wants to come to my bash? :intello:

MetalMan 11.30.2008 02:26 AM

Unfortunately I was speaking with another customer so I didn't get to hold a decent conversation with him. I'm sure he will be checking in soon, though.
