I've been a member over at RCG for 2 1/2 years, and somehow I managed to not see that post :040:.

I replied there, my username is TMetalMan.

jnev 05.12.2007 12:00 AM

I am very glad to hear this news. Now I just have to finish selling my other useless parts and stuff I don't need...

IBJAMMIN 05.13.2007 03:36 PM

Well it seems by Tekin uping the ante with there monster esc has made a race who will get there's out first? I dont know what is happening at Castle but it seems since Shawn Palmer left I have seen more complants about customer service? Not only here but on other forums also. :(

Come on Castle get your s--t together and get the Monster Max out you have been sitting on it for a year waiting for a motor when most of the people are waiting for the ESC and dont want the motor they already have Neu's and LMT's we just want a reliable ESC to run in our 1/8th scale conversions.:032:

crazyjr 05.13.2007 06:47 PM

To those who read the Tekin thread in the brushless section, Doesn't both new esc's sound similar? I mean 20 cells and 20 amps, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but they look similar on paper

Electric Dave 05.13.2007 08:12 PM

Had been under a rock and thought the Castle was the only game in town for a Monster modern ESC...when is the Tekin supposed to become real?

captain harlock 05.14.2007 04:17 AM

I think if Castle Creations is going to release a HV version of the Monster Max( and I honestly hope they'll do).....well..you know how Tekin is going to react.
I changed my mind, I WANT A MONSTER MAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX....

OK,

I guess it's time to lock down the hardware design and release it.

LOL. There goes CC getting everyones hopes up again. I wanna believe it so badly but IDK. All talk and no MonsterMax. I really like castles speed controllers but I'm too the point now where I'd take anything good that can support 6s LiPo and has a built in LVC. I just don't understand why castle doesn't give us the ESC and release the motor when it's ready. Are they really afraid they'll lose a bunch of motor sales? Seem to me it would be better to be selling something rather then nothing at all.

captain harlock 05.14.2007 07:21 AM

I assure you, those who want to use the high end motors will never ever need a MonsterMax with a motor form CC.
It is the controller which we are focusing our eyes on.

coolhandcountry 05.14.2007 12:54 PM

I agree on that one captain. I don't want to motor. I want the esc myself.

I'm just trying to gleen knowledge here fellas, I have no opinion one way or the other, but....

Why not give the MMM motor a shot? Is your opinion based on experience with the MM motors in the recommended applications?

Like I said, I'm just trying to swell the brain a little. I'm a noob to RC and a really new to high end electrics, but I'm very interested in building more electric RCs after putting my Revo together and seeing how well it performs on what I believe is a fairly entry level, mild set up. So if you don't mind, could you fill me in a little? :032:

Thanks

neweuser 05.14.2007 04:41 PM

Well, in the case with the MM, the CC motors are a higher kv rating, and most like to push the esc more than 3s or so, so a lower kv is preferred. The KV on the CC is just too high to be running 4s 5s lipo in some cases.
So, with that said, the MMM will MOST likely be a high, so to run a higher voltage system, a lower kv will be in order which is why most will get just the esc. Correct me if I'm wrong here guys.

Electric Dave 05.14.2007 04:42 PM

Because the word on the street is that the ESC is done and they are DELAYING it's release pending getting a motor to go with it. Since most guys already have the motor (or can get one from any number of companies with currently shipping options) releasing the ESC alone is desirable.

The guys that only want the ESC already have their motors Cajun. If you need both it will probably be a nice kit, like the MM5700 and 7700 stadium turcks and 1/10 buggys.

But if you already have a Neu, Lehner or the like then why get a new motor?

Sower 05.14.2007 04:47 PM

And if the rumors are correct . . . CC may be using the Neu motors with their systems. That would mean lower KV's and therefore a pretty good option if you don't have a motor already. I guess we'll find out when they're released next year though. :005:

coolhandcountry 05.14.2007 05:10 PM

I have motors sitting around collecting dust.
It does seem I could use a new motor now since I just fried one.

Got an extra 9xl lying around by chance? LOL, Mandie fried her 10xl!!!

Well, with the similarities, I figure the first out will get my money first

Sower 05.14.2007 05:38 PM

I'm not sure about that. I'm actually leaning Tekin. Seems like they've been more straight forward on it. Plus, they're local guys since I'm in Idaho. Sounds like they're a little more devoted to the racer too.

crazyjr 05.14.2007 09:50 PM

I agree, but with the specs being similar, i figure they might be very close except for maybe programming. If the MMM has the new bec for 6s runing and tekin doesn't, I might have to go green

Joe Ford 05.17.2007 05:26 PM

Guys...dang!!!...haven't had time to check up in here for a while but see that we need to set some things straight.

#1 NOBODY can tell you when a product they're inventing is going to be done...it just is when it is. We're one of the companies that WILL tell you what is going on...we have been reluctant to give more information because of this fact, and because we're getting ripped on for keeping you informed!

#2 Yes, Patrick and the rest of the CC team have been discussing releasing the ESC by itself because the motors are taking longer than anticipated.

#3 We WISH we could package it with the Neu motors...this was the first option we looked in to. Unfortunately though the cost is higher, and we would have to pass that cost on to you...which we don't want to do. We want to give you the most bang for the buck.

BlackedOutREVO 05.17.2007 05:29 PM

well joe, the esc is time, i just want a nice speedo! i hope we can do 5 cell with no fans or idk, just amase us

Serum 05.17.2007 05:31 PM

Joe;

Can you tell if the update for the neu motors (slotted or non slotted motors) will be available for the MM as well?

Glad you chimed in Joe! How about some particulars on the specs of the MMM straight from you so there is no confusion. I own to CC products and love them and don't think I would wander off on something new (at least to me). But are we any closer to releasing the MMM?

Joe Ford 05.17.2007 05:45 PM

Specs are not finalized so I can only give tentative specs right now. It's looking like 5/6s lipo, 2000W+ peak, 200A continuous (1000A cont in brushed mode lol). Motors are 540XLs...kv's will be around 2000. There probably will be a fan involved...that's about all I can give you gents for now.

Serum...I'm showing the engineers the little issue with the Neu motors...we will be making it work with those for sure.

neweuser 05.17.2007 05:47 PM

Thanks JOE! You da Man! What about release?

BlackedOutREVO 05.17.2007 05:49 PM

well lets hope the neu fix is soon! i want neu ;P

but SWEET! 5/6 cell! YEAH! fans will work i guess, thats fine, just want them to run without probs

Joe Ford 05.17.2007 05:50 PM

new...re-read above...there's no way I can tell you when something we're inventing is going to be released...nobody has ever done it before so you never know when it's going to be done. It just is when it is. Sorry.

Sower 05.17.2007 05:52 PM

Right on Joe - thanks for stopping in and giving us a heads up. I would highly encourage you to pass on the desire for the ESC to be released now. For whatever it's worth. I just know that I really need the ESC and so do a bunch of others. I have a great Lehner motor already, so I'm good there. If there's anything you can do to "motivate" the team - it would sell very well.

Thanks for your help!

AAngel 05.17.2007 06:37 PM

I'm just waiting for the esc. The 2000kv motor will be a bit to hot for my liking in an eighth scale truck on 5S.

crazyjr 05.17.2007 07:04 PM

I to am waiting on esc as i got the motors i want now. I understand the problems with announcing a release and await its release. Will it have a BEC that will handle the voltage we will run in it? Like 4-6s lipo's? Thanks for chimming in

Electric Dave 05.17.2007 07:10 PM

+1 on just the ESC...for now, Combo when it's fully baked.

DM

gixxer 05.17.2007 07:42 PM

thanks for giving us an update. I too would be interested in just the esc.

coolhandcountry 05.17.2007 07:49 PM

I would like to see esc. Have alot more motor selection.
I would like to see a higher voltage set up.
I just fried one and looking for another.

jnev 05.17.2007 08:31 PM

Thanks for the info!! I, like many others, would just want the ESC to be out. I was planning on buying a separate motor anyways. 5s/6s sounds good, sicne I'll be running 5s, and hopefully 6s in the future.:027:

bdebde 05.18.2007 12:25 AM

Hey Joe,

Great to see you stick your head in here and set things straight! Gotta hand it to the guys at Castle, they really get in to the forums and see what the customers want.

I also vote for the ESC now!

I don't know why you guys insist on pairing motors with your car controllers, you don't do it with the plane/boat ESCs.
