Where is that track located? It looks great!

In the 5S vid you can really see the punch that thing has

Whats you next modification?

Track is in Hong Kong... which mainly for 1/10 GP...as this indoor facility is very good, I test my 1/8 EP .... until satisfied .. then will go to another track and race with 1/8 GP.....

5S is my final target.. and I am now testing the gear ratio for safe-ride.....

Up-to-date test find-out is... 4S with 2350kv or above.. torque is not enough, some kind of mis-matching.... motor very very hot...

and 5S with Losi 2100kv gives a good balance between top speed and torque.... and now carefully lowering the gear ratio.....under motor temperature around 65 deg cel....

i just got a nice used 960 08' with a ton of spare and decided to go either 4s or 5s and am not sure. have the speedpassion conversion and have a question. what about 2wd - ie.. remove the side belt and front oneway? less strain on the electronics, lighter and can mount the battery(ies) perpendicular to the chassis. i am thinking like a large 1/12th scale with an infinitely more adjustable front end. with 4s power it could be lighter and still handle well. i race 1/12th and they eat up touring cars. i admit the set-up would be crucial to making it handle well....bnut isn't that half the fun  it would also be a cheaper set-up to run as it would less strain on everything and won't need those big packs. lmk what you think

I am also using the speedpassion kit... with only one 2nd gear... I found motor selection is very important... currently 2100kv x 5S Lipo... still safe-ride...

I estimate... 6S 2100kv with 45S/19P would give the same speed as 1/8 GP...

:oh:

You got it sam! 6S with a 2100Kv. gives the same power as a quick gas 1/8th. I run a 2nd gear combo of 44S/20P (Pinions courtesy of Monster Mike) as this is what I run in my car.

I'm currently looking at changing my battery configuration to a 1200mAh 6S2P config. I believe I can make this all fit under the radio tray and have the pack slide out from one side. Now I just need to find some money :diablo:

strodedawg 03.12.2009 08:20 AM

what run time would a 1200 mah battery give you? i am looking at a 2500mah pack and i am worried about run time? i would be running 6s and trying reach around 60mph - what controller and motor do you guys recommend?

I would be running 12 1200 cells total, 6 in series and then 2 parellel, giving me 6S 2400 mAh.

Use a MMM and a high quality motor around the 2000-2200 KV. range.

strodedawg 03.13.2009 06:50 AM

i plan on running 6s 2500mah, mmm v3 and for the motor a neu 1515 (2050kv or a medusa 2000 kv 36-70 or 36-80. which motor should ichoose?

Countryhick 03.13.2009 04:41 PM

I use a NEU in my car. It's all I've ever had and has never given any trouble.

strodedawg 03.19.2009 07:39 AM

i have two 3s packs rated at 25c/30-35c and 2500 mah, will run in series for a 6s set-up. can these packs handle the amp draw? also what is a quick way to estimate amp draw on a system?

I signed up here because of you guys and all these information....I can't wait to get my SERPENT going with the right batteries, speedo and motor and run with the NITRO 1/8th.....been racing the 1/8th for 3-4 years but I have no doubt to believe ELECTRIC will soon take over the 1/8th scene...keep up the good work and keep posting new info,

strodedawg 05.19.2009 06:16 AM

what betteries are people using for the conversion? i have everything but the lipos and i will be running 6s, but not sure what cells to get

mabu 05.27.2009 05:01 AM

So - last weekend i could finish my conversion ... 1800kv on 5s Fepo is not soooo fast as i hoped it will be... but also with this performance i need to replace a rear hub

i only have a 2600kv motor as replacement - this would be like 6s fepo on 2000kv ... but the 1800kv motor already got hot at the weekend session ( most of the time drifting  )

@CountryChick: are you running 6s2p fepo now?

Mabu, I'm running 6S1P 5000mAh LiPo.
