I like the name pimp-power though. Your motto could be "pimp-power lipo, like a bitch slap for your truck" |

Thats kinda what I was thinking... Or maybe "Pimp-power, any other is just a hoe." |
Hey linc, got the zippy h thanks! Helluva nice job putting it back together and great packaging for the trip here.

To pull this thread back on topic. I have a Zippy lipo which I bought a while back and have yet to use, just whacked it on the charger to see what's up and one of the cells is does not look too good.
1.02v 3.81v 3.80v 3.81v 3.81v It is a 5S 4000mah. Is there a way to resurrect the flat cell? What is the recommended procedure? |
Oh jeez... Is it puffed?

Cool thanks for the advice.
The pack does not look puffed, or any different to the 3 others that I have (all fine). I will try and isolate the pack and do a nimh charge. I have a Hyperion 0610i charger. Is there a way to charge it using the balance taps? Or do I have to open up the packaging to get at it. |
You can charge thru the balance taps, but not over 1 amp as the wires are a bit thin. Just find the 2 wires, pos and neg that go to that cell, use a multi meter to figure that out. Ten either use a female tap with wires to attach to the charger or unplug the 2 wires from the tap and use alligator clips, be careful not to touch them together.
|
Alright no problems, I have the needed connections and wires, so will give it a shot tonight.
If the cell doesn't work out, I will probably end up sending it to you to deal with like last time. |

Here a quick pic of some lipos I just finished. The 4 on the lest are a broken up 10s pack- 2 2s and 23s packs. The other 2 were packs with one damaged cell that I removed.

Linc-
My buddy made me a parallel adapter. I hooked up one side to my MMM. It turned on. It was nice. I unplugged the battery and plugged it into the other side. *poof* Magic smoke. The adapter was mis-wired. Thankfully (don't know how) the MMM survived. The smoke came from the battery pack. I assume a main pack lead burnt, or atleast cooked a little. No swelling. I haven't volt metered it or anything, It just scares me now. Even if I open it up and find (or don't find) a problem I don't have the stuff or ability to reshrink it. I think it desires to be stripped and man handled by you. PM me your addy if you're up for another lipo repair. It's a 15c 6s 5000mah flightmax. Slightly cooked..... |
Just check voltage on the cells and everything- if it checks out then your good to go- no repair needed...
I think you just want linc to manhandle your junk  |
smoke came out. even if it's "good" I don't trust the solder joints anymore. It needs to be opened and inspected. Once opened, I don't have shrinkwrap, a heatgun, or desire to shrinkwrap a pack. I have the worst f'ing luck with this stuff. Dozens of trucks and thousands of dollars spent and maybe an hour runtime...................................... Frick!
And you're right about the last part........ |

I dead shorted two packs. Moral of the story? Check other peoples work before allowing them to plug it in. Or take over if it's your stuff and plug it in yourself, then you can inspect it before anything happens.
Just to be clear my friend did this, noboody here. He does all my soldering for free. Can I be mad at him when shit happens? |
........:oh::lol:
I'll just green screen you! I have no clue, don't ask, I know that didn't make any sense.. at all... |
hey linc you ever do anything with that battery i let you keep, the true rc one.
|
hey linc can you help me with A protek 4s starter box pack? seems like 1 cell has gone bad pm me your info so i can mail to you its not puffed at all
|
Hey Linc, do you have any experience with A123's?
I have 5 2s2p packs I'd like reconfigured into 2 10s1p packs. I've got all the taps, bars, wire and shrink I'll send along with. They would be sidexside config.(i was gonna do em' but not confident in soldering aluminum) Also I have a Zippy 5s with 1 cell I can't get to balance with the rest I keep getting 4.2 on 4 cells and 3.85 on the other. I think I'd like this and another just like it redone to 4s packs. And last I have 2 ThunderPower 5s packs that take a good amount of Mah. but have no punch. If you could have a look at them see whats up,if they're pooched so be it. thanks |
i have a 5s 3700 pack that looks and feels and chargesnormal. But makes no power at all. acts like a dead 4s pack would with same gearing. soldered a new deans on it just to make sure but no difference.

Linc, I have (2) Rhino 5s 4900's, and (2) Rhino 3s 4900's. Interested in reconfiguring these to (4) 4s packs?
I'll be running the 2200 on 4s in both 8T and 8B and 4s seems to be prime in both. |
