FLM VXL Pede
I just finished building my FLM VXL Pede. I have'nt decided what radio to go with yet. I am very happy with how it came out.
This is a full FLM Truck with a swami bar and STRC carries. I just got in my MaxAmps 6000HV 2S2P 7.4V Pack and Hyperion EOS0606i charger. I may get the Lipo 5000HV 3S 11.1V Pack next. I want to see the speeds on the one I have now. I am not looking to break any speed records but just bashing around with my kids. Here are a few pics. http://www.maxxfusion.com/traxxas/FLM/body2.JPG http://www.maxxfusion.com/traxxas/FLM/chassis.jpg |
Looks great man.
2.8 beadlocks Get out the link above. 2.8 beadlocks that will be available soon for those tires. |
That looks awesome. I need to finish my .5 crt conversion so I can get the FLM chassis kit for my pede. How are you protecting your lipos with that chassis? I am trying to figure out if I can get some kind of padded battery tray in there so if I bash to hard, I don't kill the batt.

I use the 3pm and I like it alot.

hey MaxxFusion.
I dig your FLM project. I'm in the process of building one myself. Do you have pics of your receiver mount setup and antenna location on the FLM chassis? I'm thinking an aftermarket antenna bolt will be needed. How are you running your antenna? |
I actually dont have my radio just yet for it. I bought a dynamite aluminum anntenna mount from ebay to it. My chassis also came with one to use. There should be a hole specifically for that.

Looks awesome! Here's a couple pics of mine. After seeing yourse I bought the FLM chassis brace kit too, b/c it looks sweet, so thats in the mail on the way to me ;) I also think I want to get aluminum shocks too. Maybe Big-bores. And than maybe the tranny case too. Also in the mail on the way to me is the maxamps kit with the 3s 5000 lipo. Should be crazy fun. I just hope the truck can handle the power alot better than the stockers, with this FLM chassis.

I can't wait to order mine. I have no money and everyone keeps posting pics :(
Does anyone pad the chassis for the batteries? I am kind of concerned that something might come up through the chassis and hit the battery hard... |
I'm using associated battery cups on my FLM chassis. I ran 3m super duty red double stick tape instead of zip ties for securing the cups to the chassis. I guess that gives a little cusion for vibrations. Then I'm running pure tech 3 inch velcro straps to keep the batt. in place.
Pics up this weekend. Nice body Kbreeze! Mine looks like a replica but with Masher 2000's, red shock covers and a swami bar on the backside. |
Are any of you guys running FLM ext chassis with the venom F350 body get wheel rub up front toward the front of the bumper? It was pronounced at first, but I adjusted the front suspension on the shock towers so the front would sit a little higher but under hard braking and turning together, the wheel rubs a little bit.
I'm wanting to avoid trimming the body as it will never match on either side. I'm running 1 degree of camber up front, but with the shock fully compressed, the wheel kicks in considerably more I'm running big bore alum shocks with the stock springs up front and a 6 mm shock dampner clips and trinity blue's in the rear to reduce sag. What's the best setup for the FLM chassis? |
Jade, I haven't had any rubbing issues. I just bought my truck used and the previous owner did the FLM install so I can'ttell you how he set it up or if he had any problems with that initially.
As far as shocks, I am looking into getting the Big-Bores right now. Is it correct that the rear takes the XX Long Big bores and the front uses the Long Big bores? Also would like to know whats the best springs and oil weights to use with an FLM setup. Looks like MaxxFusion has big bores (I think) Maybe he can chime on with some thoughts... |
Trinity heavy duty blue springs #TK5128 will be good with the big bores.
|
As far as big bores go, I'm running the rear stampede big bores in the rear and the front stampede big bores in the front.
I like 50 wt silicone oil in both front and rear. I've got stock front springs with a 6 mm dampner clip up front and I'm running the trinity blues in the back. I like the setup so far, but I cant seem to keep the spur gear from stripping. I'm having a small clearance issue when the right side hex nut backed out where the tie rod bolts onto the tower brace and burned up the spur gear. :*( Are you guys running stock pinions and stock 86t spurs with an FLM chassis and brushless Velinion motor? I find that the stock gearing sets up really well for bashing and jumps. Also, the rear plastic body posts keep ripping above the nuts. (backflips!)Anyone find a decent body post setup to avoid buying Traxxas 6 body posts a month @ 7.00 a pack? http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj92/rossi4/042.jpg |
Just jump the Lincoln!
