Cheap lipo idea?
Hey, would it work to run these in a car? I'd get employee discount on them so they'd be even cheaper, but don't know if they'd handle the bursts. The package said they're rated to 20C, and two of those in parallel for about 6400mAh would be nuts. I notice the cells don't have taps, or whatever it's called that you use to individually measure voltage and stuff, and assume there'd be a way to solder those in. MetalMan, if you wanted some, I could swing my discount and then just send them to you. :D

Looks like they might work. I don't know enough about LiPo's yet. But I will. Are you going to pass the savings along to us. Your friends on the forum? lol. If they do work please post.

Well, for me to try them out, I'd have to purchase a pack or two, as well as a charger to go with them, and then a DC power supply to go with the charger, but most importantly, I need MONEY to get any of these! I just dropped $200 on a BL system that'll go in my Twin Force, so I can't afford blowing at least another $300 on getting a Lipo setup.
As for the discount thing, I don't think I can do that, not even sure I could do it for MetalMan........kind of abusing the system, you know? |
it was worth asking about. What are you going to run them in and with? I think the be ok with some setups but not all.
|
Those are the Kokam 3200mah cells that Wattage relabled.
For what they are, they really aren't all that cheap. From Maxamps you can get a 3s 4200mah 15C pack for $113 (or less if you got the RC Groups discount!). It would be heavier than the Kokam 3200s, but is cheaper and gives better runtime. Just throwing another option out there :). Honestly, though, I would rather go for the cheaper Maxamps pack, since your employee discount would still make the Wattage pack more expensive. |
How much are the Maxamps ones? I could find out how much these are with my discount, I'm thinking at least $100, prob. less though. I've never really seen the lipo prices out there, so this kinda hit me as a good price.
|
The Maxamps pack with the discount is $91-100.
|
Which Maxamps packs are we talking about here? I was just shown an insane deal on some 3s3p (I think) packs, but they're made of 10C cells.......would those take a 8xl's draw? The site put them at "safely discharge at 40A up to 48A , with Max burst of 80A (10-15 sec)".
|
I am talking about a Maxamps 3s2p pack. The one on their website is without the discount. You have to email them to get the discount.
40amps continuous should be plenty on an 8XL with 6s Lipo, as long as it is geared appropriately. |
My new idea would be a 9xl and two of the 11.1v packs in series, it'd be 6s.....and downright stupid powerful.
|
no way1 it is only a 9xl on 6s. If you threw 8s on there you getting some where.
|
I still think it'd be more than enough, you see the vid of the Savage on 6s? I don't really need a truck like that, I'm thinking 9xl on 6s will be stupid enough......and super loooooooooooong runtime to boot!
Speaking of runtime, what could I expect from, say, 8000mah on the 9xl? Don't ask about the source or how I'd afford it, but I think I actually can make this happen. Oh, and ludicris as it sounds, it's very feasible. :D |
Yes it is doible. I would say about an hour of run time 6s 8000mah. Would that be good for you? :D I did not see a video on the truck. Is the link around the thread some where?
|
i think he's talking about the 8xl on 6s. if i am not mistaken the thread is entitled "the best example of the power of a feigao xl" or something like that.
|
I would also like to see this video, squee, can you find the link for us? pretty please:)
