What did you use, a servo driver board?

rawfuls 01.11.2010 01:16 AM

The hell is that.

Freezebyte 01.11.2010 01:21 AM

I think he means "rheobus"

t-maxxracer32 01.11.2010 02:35 AM

pretty cool!

shaunjohnson 01.11.2010 06:40 AM

oh man...das an old trick
i did this but replaced the pot with fixed resisters to convert a servo into a sail winch servo.
this is a bigtime mod for the battlebot RC's and i also used it as a horn switch on the revo.

Oh yeah, well I made one that went forward/reverse but also up/down/left/right!!! Yeah I made 6-axis motor/esc.

BrianG 01.11.2010 01:16 PM

Well, I wasn't going to post it, but I made one that went in 4 dimensions; X, Y, Z, and through time! There!

Seriously, to get more current capability out of a regular servo driver board, you'd just have to beef up the H-bridge drive circuit. That, coupled with a larger motor, could be used as a steering servo for larger vehicles without needing to get a huge/multiple (and expensive) servo. One of the servos that would be good for this would be the ones that can use 2s lipo directly.

One thing I had noticed though was that the speed was variable, but not nearly as proportional as a real ESC. Good for a servo, but not so good as a truly proportional control.

 you just add another FET and 500ohm resistor to get a more powerful esc...

You managed to get it to go 88mph?
