Looks good! One thing though. The spacers go under the rockers and you flip them over with the nuts facing down.

Thanks dude. What can I say? I am Polish, blonde haired, dyslexic, and a former Marine. Don't expect perfection the first time around.:na:

looks like you through some cash towards this project. its very nice. i hope you picking a power train that'll match the rest of the truck.

I was thinking a stock RS540 brushed motor and twin six-cell 3300nimh battery packs......Just kidding. I am not sure what I am going to put in this truck. I already have 2 MGMs and a Quark 125B in my other trucks and I am happy with them but I'd really like to try something new and different. I still need to acquire:

wheels & tires
steering servo
receiver
body & wing

If the MMM combo is out like they say it is suppose to be by the time (hello...March is just around the corner:sleep:) I get the above items then fine...I'll buy one. If not...I guess I'll go for another MGM/Neu combo.

Thanks. I really wanted some CVDs...but I also wanted 8mm axles...so I went with the 3.3 drive shafts and RD racing axle kit. We'll see how it holds up.

Dont leave out the fact that you are in West Virginia.

I've always admired your rides. This one is certainly no exception.

Looks like she's gonna be a tight ride.

Nitronaught 02.17.2008 04:56 PM

Those arms, Flex Tek's right? Well as the name Flex is definately inherant with these styled arms.

Are you expererincing any excessive hing pin bending? If so I saw a guy make a plate, used a slightly longer hinge pin and captured the pins. Stopped beding ti pins ever since.

Nice looking setup. What do you think it's gonna weigh fully loaded?http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/images/icons/icon6.gif

Good point! I'm not a native WV...but who knows maybe it's rubbing off on me?

Thanks for the kind words.

I did something similar with my FLM Maxx w/Flex Tek arms to stop the hinge pins from bending....no problems since.

Not sure about the completed weight...I am going to use Axial Oversize beadlock wheels so it will be a little on the heavy side. Originally I was going to go with the CF chassis, but then changed my mind and decided to go AL.

ssspconcepts, I swear i've seen that exact same tranny before, I just don't know where...

nice build!! Not too often you see a revo with some *bling* on it :intello:

ssspconcepts 03.01.2008 11:55 PM

Here are some updates...tires and the steering servo are on the way. After that I will probably hold off on the ESC and motor (hopefully-fingers crossed-MMM will be out in April). If not...I am going with MGM and Neu.

I tried to get some close-ups of the new revo/traxxas wing mount for those considering it. I like it.

Looks totally sick. :gasp: Thats one of the best looking revos I have ever seen. I like the choice of the 3.3 axles vs CVDs. They hold up well, but do start to stretch over time at the joints, but Cheap to replace and I've never actually broken one, unlike CVDs.

Just a heads up on the Traxxas CF looking wing. I bought one and it literally shattered on the first roll over crash last weekend. And when I say shattered I mean SHATTERED into little pieces. Ive never seen anything like it. The crash really shouldn't have been a big deal at all either. The turn marshal spent 5 minutes picking up the shards of the wing from the track. That was $12 bucks wasted for sure. They look awesome, but they are made from crap material. If you have another wing use it. The traxxas wing is good for pictures only.

The wing mount itself is very stout and much better than the Tekno and Jconcepts versions.

EDIT: Only thing I would add is the sway bars. They made a huge difference in handling. I actually like the Traxxas sway bars better than the tekno. The rear sway bars on the traxxas are mounted in the back of the truck and they don't interfere with the wiring and stuff like the Teknos.

Hey thanks...I have really been wondering about the sway bars. One of the reasons that I haven't gotten one yet is because of the interference with the wiring. But you say the Traxxas version is good to go...I'll check it out. I have Maximizer 17mm beadlocks and some HPI GT tires coming along with a HiTec Ti gear servo. After that it will be a waiting game for the ESC/motor.

I am thinking about converting the Strobe slipper to the Revo 3.3 Spec slipper and input shaft. I would use the 40T Revo spur....Do you think this is practical? I hate to ditch the Strobe/Sprong...but I can't find a consistent supply of slipper pads.

Thats awesome man, great build.

ssspconcepts 01.18.2009 09:02 PM

Well I guess this is a good time to post an update...I have a MMM...the only thing left to do is fabricate a mount. I might wait for the new Revo Brushless Edition mount to be released...seems like it would fit perfectly on top of the graphite EVO plate that comes standard with the G3R chassis.

I tried to mount my MMM on top of that plate. The MMM hit the body when I did it. I have my body mounted lower than yours, but you might want to take a look at it first. BTW: it looks awesome!

Thanks wildman. That's the problem with the G3R chassis...there isn't a whole lot of realestate to mout the ESC. I actually selected this body (Jconcepts CRT) because it has a little extra hump in the back but I still had to raise the body 1/2 inch higher than I would have liked. Seems like the Tango body would have also been a good choice. But you are right...it is a pain to get it just right.

Arct1k 01.19.2009 09:04 PM

Make a plate off of the motor mount and mount it opposite the motor on the transmission - It works very well...

Then mount the rx on the second tab in place of the second servo...

I have a desert rat body, they don't give you a lot of room. You could always do what I did, if run out of room. Could you post a side shot with the body on? I would like to see how it fits. That body is sick!

That will be my next course of action if things don't work out. However, I am hoping that the Revo BL edition MMM mount will work well to secure my ESC on top of the graphite plate above the rear shocks. If not then I will fabricate something to fasten it to the motor plate as you suggested...makes me wish I didn't sell all my dual motor mounts.

Can do...As soon as I get the ESC mounted, I will post some profile shots for you. I wish I could say that I painted the body, but I didn't. Liquidmask off of ebay painted it. Fair price, super fast, and fast shipping too....he da man.

ssspconcepts 01.31.2009 06:08 PM

Here are some photos of the MMM all mounted to the chassis. There isn't a lot of room on the G3R because of the lay down shocks. I tried all sorts of options...flipping the tranny both ways, mounting the ESC to the front and rear of the tranny, and to theside. I still may end up going back to a dual motor mount and mount it to the empty side. For right now, this is what I came up with. The velcro you see is for an Eagle Tree system...

Very clever esc mount . I think it will be fine on there. But if using lower body, might be a problem.

I see that there is a little room for a L-bracket at the left side of the motor plate. Couple holes to it and you might get it there and mount the esc.

Yep...it is a tight fit any way you go. As it is, the motor wires just barely touch the under side of the body. Next time I am out and about, I am going to pick up some aluminum and try fabricating something for the motor mount.

Hey all,
Getting out of the hobby all together. Thinking about selling this rig altogether if someone is seriously interested. It's still new (sitting in the garage since I finished it). For me the hobby was always about building and I have found something different to fill my time.

Some of the highlights.
Ti rockers, bumper, and suspension arms
RC-Monster 1/8 scale diff adapters and 1/8 Ofna diffs
Aluminum tranny with metal internal gears
MIP CVDs
Gorillamaxx G3R
Tons of more upgrades you can see in my Picas build page

Ideally, I'd like to sell it with the radio (DX 3.0 with 11V Flight Power Li-Po battery upgrade).

PM me if interested.

Sorry just not interested in parting it out.

Sad to see you leaving the hobby- your builds were epic. Still, if building was the fun part then perhaps a switch to airfix kits then?

Im actually painting a 1:72 scale Su-37 as I type
