G2r?

1 Attachment(s)
I think my chassis is a G2R but not sure. Is there a G1R? It may be hard to see but I included a pic from when I first started putting it together. Not the cleanest setup at this point, a lot has changed since this pic but I don't have any oter pics of the cassis

lincpimp 03.03.2008 03:02 AM

No pic must be a g0r.

For some reason it didn't post, had to edit

lincpimp 03.03.2008 03:08 AM

Still do not see it, put it in a seperate post from the first.

E-Revonut 03.03.2008 03:13 AM

ok, 4 some reason the manage attachments thing isn't working for me at the moment!

E-Revonut 03.03.2008 03:17 AM

for now there is a pic on another post of mine, HV 4.5 gearing under gorillamaxx forum

file size was small enough but the width and hight of the pic where to big

Arct1k 03.03.2008 11:03 AM

Looks a lot like a G2R I was bidding on ebay until some *** sniped me with 3secs to go! :)

jhautz 03.03.2008 11:47 AM

G2R was the first revo chassis from GMaxx. They called it G2R cuz they were on their G2 chassis for the Maxx and this was an adaptation of the G2 chassis for the Revo. Hence G2R.

The original Gmaxx chassis for the Maxx wasnt called the G1 either. It was just the gorilla maxx chassis.

True, and it was rather ugly looking in all honesty- checkout the early days of MaxxBling:

I originally started this thread to find out for sure what I had but the title is rather vague and rather than starting another tread I'm going to add to this one.

I have been running my 9.5Lb G2R with a Novak HV-Maxx 4.5 setup. I'm running pretty close to the gearing they recomend for a 10+ lb E-maxx. Friday night a cop offered to Radar it and I hit 38MPH, very happy with this speed.

Saturday I was running it to show some friends at work and when I brought it back to turn it off as I was reaching down I thought I seen a small spark or arc near the top of the heatsink on the esc. Then the truck did nothing! Friday night when I checked the temps the esc was about 165 and the motor about 120. Today I went to my lhs to see what info they had to offer me. We tried one of the stutter stoppers with no luck, reprogrammed the esc to the transmitter, checked the batteries, the sensor plug, and made sure all connections where good. All we found was that with the wheels off the ground if you ease into the throttle it works, but if you try full throttle there is nothing and if I put it on the ground there I can get it to move a few feet but thats all. Any idea whats wrong?

Currently I'm waiting to hear back from Novak but if they won't help me I need an alternative motor and esc without dropping an a$$load of $! I'm very happy with 40MPH and I have (2) 6000Mah 2S Lipos on the way. What motor, esc should I be looking for? Is the Mamba Max really capable of 4S Lipo with a UBEC? The 4.5 is a 4400Kv motor and I have felt that turns to fast, so what should I be looking for to hit 40MPH?

lincpimp 03.30.2008 11:11 PM

MM with a ubec will handle 4s lipo. Get a feigao 8xl, and gear for 40mph. Will work better and with more power/torque than the novak.

E-Revonut 03.31.2008 12:43 AM

Thanks lincpimp! Hoping Novak will take care of me and get me a new esc or fix whatever the problem is. Then I will most likely sell it and get the mamba max/feigao. Unless the MMM is out by then! I have said it b4 and will say it again, I wish I had found this forum before I built my truck! Everyone on here has offered so much info and I have done what I can to help others. I've only been into electric and BL since December, tired of nitro headaches! I will admit though when nitro is running they do offer a lot of fun.

lincpimp 03.31.2008 01:16 AM

No prob, just wait till you get a more powerful setup. The novak is ok, but even a mm/xl can outdo it.

E-Revonut 03.31.2008 08:45 AM

what is the kv rating of an 8xl?

Arct1k 03.31.2008 08:58 AM

2084

Is it really possible to see 40MPH with this? I would need a 24-25 tooth pinion with my 49t spur. I would only have a gear reduction if about 12.75:1. Is this combo that much better that I can pull that ratio without frying anything?

suicideneil 04.01.2008 10:10 AM

People have been doing it for years, so I would be inclined to say 'yes it is...'.

The Hvmaxx runs at about a 25:1 reduction ratio, but then again, it spins about twice as fast....

E-Revonut 04.02.2008 09:50 AM

I always thought 65k on 12 cells was a bit much! I was running slightly higher ratio, 23.75:1, but in a much lighter truck than the emaxx it was intended for. I'm a full on lighter RTF than an emaxx without batteries. After I find out what novak will do I'll wind up with a different combo

:oops:YEE HAw!!! LOL I finally got it going again! MM/8xl on 12 cells for the moment. Waiting for the CC BEC and 19t pinion from RCM to come then it will be 4s lipo!!! right now it's only running about 20MPH and the steering is really sluggish(mostly due to crappy servo). Hopefully with the BEC set at 6V it will help the servo until I can get something better. The one in it now is only like 40 oz/in torque:oops: that came in the truck. I'm really leaning toward 2 traxxas waterproof servos when I get some more money, at least it's moving for now though. Here's some pics, any feedback about any of it is appreciated, setup, wiring layout, whatever you see that could be better please let me know!

suicideneil 04.11.2008 10:53 AM

The only thing I would suggest is to forget about the traxxas waterproof servos, and pickup something with metal gears and around 200oz/in of torque. Other than that it looks fine. Will you be getting a motor clamp to stop the endbell from popping off?...

E-Revonut 04.11.2008 12:36 PM

Didn't know that would be a problem, so thanks for enlightening me! I'll place an order for one in about a week. Wanna get it fully running on 4s and see what else I need, possibly different pinion or something, wanna order it all at once. Thanks again Neil

Fast5sRevo88 04.11.2008 12:59 PM

You definently need to go with just one servo. I had to switch to the single servo thingy from proline after the dual traxxas servos killed:diablo:each other.(1 pulling, 1 pushing) I'm now using the JR Z9000T Metal gear digital servo. Worth every bit of the $114 i paid for it.:mdr:

E-Revonut 04.12.2008 02:11 PM

OK, got my CC BEC and 19t pinion from Mike today. WOW this thing is insane and makes the Novak HV look like a kids toy! 20MPH wheelies everytime I hit the throttle. But the temps are HOT about 180 on the esc and the motor so I stopped! I'm going to order a smaller pinion after I hear from some of you guys. I'm running a mod1 spur from a MGT (49t) so my options for spurs is very limited and they take some work to get them to fit.

suicideneil 04.13.2008 12:37 PM

If you can, I'd say look for some larger spurs, rather than geeting a smaller pinion- $3 vs $13....

19/49 sounds abit on the tall side to me, have a gander at what others are running on similar setups: HERE.

E-Revonut 04.13.2008 12:50 PM

Just Ran it with a 49/13 gearing setup and it wasn't bad except it was 2WD only! I'm at the point that I'm going to abandon my e-revo! I'm throwing all my new brushless stuff in my 3905 E-Maxx and gonna have fun with it! I have to say after all the work I'm not thrilled with the gorilla chassis. Fitment with the stock revo parts isn't to good and when you have to take it apart and put it back together thats a pain in the a$$! Prolly putting the G2R chassis on ebay in the next couple days minus the tranny and tires/wheels and whatever I get for it I'll use to upgrade the maxx. The 3905 suspension seems to handle pretty well and since I'm only bashing around I'll be fine. Plus it's one less to maintane and I can start saving to get an eight-t to convert.

E-Revonut 04.19.2008 01:02 AM

Just put my G2R chassis and G1 single speed on ebay, check it out and don't be affraid to bid!
