Hey Snellemin, Want Some Competition?

Just got done modding my rustler for weight loss by shaving off useless parts and slapping in an extreme overkill system. Heres my setup.

ESC- Hacker Master Car Sport Opto
Motor- Feigao 8xl
Battery- FlightPower 3200mah 30c-60c 5s Lipo

I am running a 32p spur/pinion setup so that it'll be alot stronger than the stock 48p setup. It has the full VXL tranny. Still doesnt have upgraded driveshafts which is needed. Im debating between jato driveshafts or xxx-t universals. But ya I think I will be able to atleast give you somewhat of a good race snellemin.
I will take some pics as soon as I can.

Please let me know what you think.

snellemin 03.07.2008 06:39 PM

What did u do to keep the front down on your rustler and what tires will you be running? I like the jato shaft myself and run 32p gears with no slipper.
You will be probably faster in a dragrace if you keep from lifting up and reduce tire slippage. If the race is around 200ft, the better driver will win.

i'll bring my much slower ls10 and when both of you run off the track, i'll drive straight to the victory.

snellemin 03.07.2008 07:47 PM

Hey Tash, I'll use a different throttle curve at the next TNT helping on the launch. Well depending if my new foamies get here or not.

tashpop 03.07.2008 09:18 PM

did you get the 1/8 foams? if thats what you're running, and need some quick, randy's has a set of kyosho's i think it'll cost you around $50 there though.

wait, you can just get a pair so about $26

snellemin 03.07.2008 11:23 PM

I won't be using the 1/8 scale foams. I don't have the motor to turn that size fast enough. Got to wait for the MMM for that. I'll be sticking with 3.5" foamies in the Rusto.

tashpop 03.07.2008 11:39 PM

wouldn't you need to turn slower? they're 4" tall.

snellemin 03.08.2008 12:00 AM

Taller tires require more torque to get it rolling, which is time wasted in dragracing when your motor is crying to get it to roll. If I had the C50 hacker the 4" tall foamies would be ok.

tashpop 03.08.2008 12:45 AM

hey, speaking of a c50, i just got one for $62. hope he sends it. it was a 2nd chance offer on something i lost on yesturday. i was so mad. i had 22 sec. left and increased my bid and the stupid computer hesitated on the confirm page. but when i got home today i had a second chance offer yeppi! i hope its a decent motor. guy says he only ran it for a couple of minutes in his emaxx but decided to scrap the project. i'm thinking he blew up the diffs or something and then realized how much it costs to make a maxx handle power.

you should be able to get pretty close to the same performance with the 4" tall tires by just gearing it down to the same overall rollout as what you were running with the smaller tires. That is provided the 4" tires dont weigh more, but I thing the 1/8 buggy foam tires I have seen were pretty light so that shouldnt be a problem.

Its all in the gearing.

I was looking at the motor as well. But I am holding back for the MMM. There was also the maxx 14.4 hacker, but I was not willing to pay 140 for a used hacker. Yours should be a monster in your setup.

Hey snell, I was wondering how fast you think my setup will go geared at 22/62 in 32p on my setup if I can keep it under control. What speeds would I be looking at? Im really aiming to hit over 52 to beat my previous record set with my Schumacher MI2.

snellemin 03.08.2008 11:57 AM

Use a smaller spur if you want to go faster then 52mph(tone down the torque as well), assuming you run 4" tall tires. That is what I would do, if I started with the setup you have.

Takedown 03.08.2008 12:10 PM

Still dont know what tires to use either? I cant find any foams that will work with the rusty.

lincpimp 03.08.2008 01:15 PM

FYI: the c50 series motors will not fit the std plastic rustler tranny. They should fit the flm tranny, but gearing choices may be limited due to the larger diameter of the motor.

TexasSP 03.08.2008 04:09 PM

Couldn't you get the maxx hex adapters and use them to find foamies to run?

Snellemin, were do you live abouts? I am off 1960/249.

snellemin 03.08.2008 04:11 PM

I'm towards tomball, kinda were 249 ends into the feeder.
