Does MM not work in 5S???
I have set up with bec and everything.. I had the same set up b/4 w/ older MM and it worked fine. does the New MM not work for 5S? I have Neu, 1515 motor and 5S 4800 to work with.. CC bec.. let me know..thanks..
Mine worked a couple times and then caught fire. Not the best 5s esc. Quark125b is much better for that, ultra smooth.
where do i get that?
I got mine from Jamie at StarluckRC.com but he is out of town for another week I believe. I am not sure if he has any is stock or not either.
what diff. does that make where i get the MM? is ther an alternative esc thats not too expensive? thanks..
I dont know that it makes a difference..the newer ones are more picky it seems like. They are all a timebomb on 5s and will smoke, and could possibly take down the lipos with it. The people running it typically run on the street on wide open passes...half throttle is what kills it, the switching w/high voltage...and a 4 pole motor makes it even worse.
Let's not forget that the MM is technically a 3s ESC...

Hello,
Wow! StarluckRC.com has NO product listed in every category (at time of posting)... Good way to make a business! Loa |
chill out dude.... looks like he's re-doing his website. give him some time or order from another place. simple as that.

I dont see them being timebombs...Ive been running 2 MMs on 5s for quite a while and never had an issue. Both are going on close to a year now. As long as you set it up properly and gear it properly and a 25mm fan and they are just fine. One is a track setup and the other is a basher. Both run just fine on 5s. They were both in buggies and I just recently moved one of them over to a truggy on 5s and still not seeing any issues. I really think that most of the MM problems stem from people running Neu motors with them. The new software make them run OK. but they still dont run the Neus as smooth as they run a 2 pole motor. I get random cogging still and the cogging is what kills the esc. The 5s just makes it easier to fry when it cogs cuz everything is closer to the limit already. The newer ones are a little more finicky like you said. But from what I understand, they either run on 5s, or they dont. It seems kinda luck of the draw. I dont have a newer one to reference though. |
thats the set up I have!!! Neu and MM combo. If its gonna be this much heache and potential to cause fire, then Im gonna use the Jazz 80 esc..
I fly helis and this esc works really well.. German tech. will outshine all.. thanks for your help.. |

You guys ever considered buying a Quark controller from RC-monster? Rumour has it that he runs an rc-business too! (must be the worlds best kept secret.. )
I'd love to order a Quark or MGM from Mike but he's always out of stock. I know that I can get them somewhere else but I have a loyalty issue thing.
You can shoot him an email; the MGM's are going to be expensive though, since the currency of the dollar isn't really helping!
Lego,
sorry, I thought Neu was german.. lol.. anyways, Jazz, would it work????? thats all I wan tto know.. |
I also have been running 5 cell lipo's with my MM and havnt had a problem yet.
What settings are you using, cut-off voltage on the charger etc? TELL US..... :mdr:

I run 5s in my xt8 with a neu 1512 3d no problem. I run the updated 3.17 program, lvc set to custom 15v, and a fan. Using a true rc 5000 pack geared in the 30s I get about 25 minutes of run time. The motor runs about 150 degrees, battery 120, speedo 120. Granted, this is in the desert. I fully charge all of my packs to 4.2v a cell, so far no problems with the speedo.
My neighbor over here uses the same setup in the same car except he uses a 9xl, it runs a little warm and has thermaled before. He has a 5s 8000 true rc pack, its huge, and its geared in the 40s. It truely states how tough a mm is. In my revo I have run the mm with a neu 1515 2.5d with a 5s true rc 5000 pack without any problems. I did not keep it that way because the run times were only about 20 minutes at the most. Cogging the with mm/neu combo is not much of a problem in the revo since it is forward only but the xt8 is noticable. Its really not a problem unless its a rolling backward start, then it will take a second to react. |
