lol, I just came from your other thread for the 8ight buggy and when I saw these pics, I at first thought you just put truggy tires on the buggy! But I see the differences now. You like consistency don't you?

Nice and clean layout (although the vehicle itself is dirty)...

badassrevo 04.08.2008 10:28 AM

They are both right off the track http://arcshobbies.com/signup.html http://arcshobbies.com/ I ran against the nitro guys and took first in the truggy A main (10min ) and third in the buggy B main.

I will get them cleaned up, dont worry. LOL

BArevo, where did you find that screen material to protect your fan?

I've been going through the huge 1/8 electric post on rctech. Has anyone finally tried a 1509 in a buggy? I've got a 8ight waiting to be converted, but its on hold till the MMM and I see some results of the 1509.

badassrevo 04.08.2008 10:46 AM

The screen material came from the housing around the light bulb for a industrial projection screen tv.
The one on my buggy is .060 lexan with holes drilled in it. It keeps the fan from seperating from the housing. I have only had 1 fan failure since I installed the "screen" I have two full seasons on the buggy.
Tonys screws just recieved his 1509 so he will be posting soon.

For screening material, you can use a thin sheet of "expanded metal". Looks like this:

Most metal shops should have a decent selection. Even Lowe's/Menards might have some.

Or, you can cut the metal screen material from a cooking sifter or a house screen door.

Or, get some fan guards from a computer store.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll keep checking for Tony's 1509 review. If I remember right he wants to try it on 3S. That's going to draw more amps than a lower KV 1512 on 4S. I'm hoping to run a lower KV 1509 on 4S.

What kind of maximum runtime do you see with this combo on the track?

Very clean layout BTW...

I have not run it longer than 15 min at the track. I will update you as soon as I can.

lucias 04.22.2008 06:28 PM

Dan said that all orders for the 8 trays/kits should be sent end of 1st week of May but not sure if that is this week or next week

lxmuff 05.02.2008 12:57 PM

This weekend they are being boxed up.

Mike makes very good conversions too.

Mofomaxx 05.23.2008 06:05 PM

Sorry to be an absolute noob here ... but can anyone give me a link or two for people who make motor mounts or complete BL conversion kits for the 8T ?

Cheers,
Andy

Mike needs a link to the store on the header some where so we could access the store so much more quickly. It would also help newbies find his store quicker.

Mofomaxx 05.24.2008 05:05 AM

Thanks, i had actually found that already but was unsure if it was just for the 8eight or the 8eight T aswell.....

What about battery mounts etc ? i assume the generic one in mikes store will do, but i can't find much info on the whole setup, i.e. what mods are needed to the radio tray, how to mount the battery on the 8T chassis, which spur gear etc......

I found the rc product designs www & they seem to do a whole kit, but it doesn't look as neat as mikes motor mount...... any advice welcomed,

Andy

I got one on the bottom of my page saying RC-Monster Store

RC-Monster Mike 05.24.2008 09:43 AM

There are a few store links throughout the forums, actually. Should be easy enough to add more. :)

MoFo - the 8 mounts work for the buggy and the truggy. Our battery trays are kits, and we offer a couple sizes to fit whichever battery you have or plan to use. You should be able to find plenty of pictures for the mods, but basically you cut the radio tray behind the steering servo. The battery box box mounting is described in the listing as well. With one of our hardened pinions, you simply use the stock spur gear. :)

Cheers mike, i have emailed you with same question & requst for a total price including p&p to the UK, before you posted this reply, i'd figured i'd need the motor mount, battery holder & pinion, just was unsure what else apart from obvious motor/esc was required......

I'd like to run a Neu motor, and probably the MMM, so im open to battery advice, i assume im looking at a high capacity 4s ? for nitro like speed & good runtimes ?

That is correct. Try to pick up a 4s Flightpower, Neu Energy or Polyquest lipo. You can also get any one of these three from Mike's store. Here is a direct link to the batteries:
