Gorilla need a lid
 

Folks, what's a good body for a Gorilla chassis? Something that sits looooow. I'd like to cover the batts.

I have my Crowdpleazer at the lowest position possible. I modified the body posts, and it sits almost directly on the shock towers, but still, the batts are almost a full inch below the body.

Or are there some kind of low profile shock towers.

I like my MT Racers LOW!

You would be better off getting a Stadium shell rather than a MT one.

Always helps getting one you cut out too (so you can make it abit bigger/cut less off) but in general most shells are the same dimensions in depth.

Hey dafni, i'm using the g3 suspension which i thought would be about the lowest and i'm using the proline ford f350 extended body and it sits about a half an inch from the chassis. Thats the best combo i've found so far. I agree with you i don't like the batts to show.

I use the f350 boday as well. If you leave the side long(paint below the actual body), you can actually get the batteries completely covered. With the g3 suspension, it is quite easy to cover the batteries completely with the body.

Hey daf. I know you seen pics of my caddy body. I run the flm and the integy depends on pic. The escalace body has some low sides. I have to measure it out. I run my body up about 3 or 4 holes on a stock mount. If you need measrure meant let me know. I just like having a cruiser body. A little style.

this was my concern also about the g2 chassis
it exposes the batts to dirts or rocks kicked by the front tires

if i get a g2 chassis
if i alrdy cut the body i would go to LHS and get a sheet of lexan either cover it with carbon sticker or paint with same of color of body and either velcro it or screw to the sideskirts of the body
you know kinda like a body kit tuner style

This G3 suspension, can you only use the shock tower?

I have not actuall tried that, but i think you should be able to.

You mean only use the shock mount of the g3 suspension while using some other kind of suspension?

You can use it, only I think you need to add a little shim inside the shock(between the body and piston) to lower it enough. Fuel line does the trick.

I have Nova racing low profile "hybrid" shock towers on one of my g-maxxes for this reason as well. This shock tower is made of 7075 aluminum and is about 3/4" lower than the stock towers. I will see if I can difg a pair up for you if you like.

What kind of body was you looking for daf? Maybe some has one and can get a few measurements for you. Maybe a pic or something to help you out as well. Let us know if we can help.

@Mike, with those lower shocktowers, the shocks are mounted lower too, i've got mine mounted as high as possible, so with those nova's it will get higher. (UE knucklehead tower)

Otherwise I'll try the Gorilla towers, if you can et them for me separately. Let's see.

Coolhand, I like the Proline GMC Sierra Maxx body, as well as the original Crowd Pleazer. I might try this Ford extended body one day.

If you give me to next weekend I can check out the pleazer body for you. I take a pic of it. Do some measuring as well. I have to get back to you unless someone else can do it before hand.

Oh, sorry Coolhand. I have those bodies, those were the ones I was speaking about. Sorry for the confusion.

It okay. Don't take alot to confuse me. I though about building a battery tray that comes up to meet the body. Make it out of aluminum and polish it up. Have to line it with tape or foam to keep from shorting the batteries.

If the shocks are mounted lower on the shocktower, the whole truck becomes higher.

Okay. I wasn't sure on the question serum. Just wanted to make sure I under stood. Push the shock down and the truck goes up.

No, i like 'm low.. That's why those shocktowers are a nogo for me..

you can make the sides any shape you want on the sides haha

Low towers can also give you a low ride. Just lay the shocks lower, if you know what I mean. Less steep.
But this also alters the"stiffness", springs will seem stiffer, But I guess I don't have to tell you this.

yeah, got them as close to the center on the towers and as close to the wheel on the arms..

With standard length shocks, the low profile towers allow a pretty low ride height. The UE shocks are a little longer, which make it a bit tricky to get the lower ride height. On my g-maxx with the super shocks, I use the FLM towers(which also allow a fairly low body position).
