Owww!!!

So I finally got my revo running right today and was playing with it out by the pool and volley ball court with my friends. It got sideways and was headed for me so I was going to just jump over it but didn't quite get my bare feet high enough and my toe caught the roll bar. It was numb for a while but its starting to get the feeling back now and HURTS. It cut the end of my toe and bent the nail back.

What kind of injuries like this have yall had?

cry baby... this is my son after the neighbours dog said hello...

All turned out fine in the end...

How did the revo fair? I hope the rollbar wan't damaged...

jnev 04.21.2008 11:19 PM

That can be quite painful. The worst I have got is just a couple small scratches/bruises from trying to pull a screw/nut or something off the truck. However, I have seen some people have to get stitches from getting hit by there rc car...

bdebde 04.21.2008 11:30 PM

I lost the entire toenail on my big toe (same toe). The rear diff in my old MT2 seized up, and went out of control at about 35mph into my toe

I'm glad everything turned out fine with your son.

And as far as cry baby, I think my profile picture shows i've been through worse than a messed up toenail. Car wreck left me with a subarachnoid hemmorhage :gasp:. 13 screws in my forehead later but i'm perfectly fine (and so is the rollbar )

DrKnow65 04.21.2008 11:55 PM

I watched a fellow RC'er using a pair of needle nosed pliers to tighten a zip-tie, he slipped off and planted them in his forehead. We tried pulling them out but we couldn't do it (I think they wedge themselves in like a fish spear), he had to go to the hospital to get them out. No pic's but he still has the two little dimple scars hahahaha.

MTBikerTim 04.22.2008 01:33 AM

You and your friends shouldn't be allowed near tools by the sounds of it drknow.

lincpimp 04.22.2008 01:48 AM

I cut/bruised my foot on Sunday with my emaxx. My own fault for wearing sandals! I accidentally double pumped the brakes, and the quark went into reverse, and the skid rode up my foot. I cursed, loudly.

MTBikerTim 04.22.2008 01:52 AM

That's one of the reasons I hate reverse. I always double tap the brakes.

83gt 04.22.2008 07:16 AM

I took a 35mph launch and flew straight into my buddies arm. We thought I'd broke it, (his arm, that is). Turned out ok, just a nasty nasty bruise.

J.

:surprised:That would have meant one less dog in my neighborhood. :grrrrrr:

Didn't see your avatar as have them turned off - Serious stuff - Must be fun flying with airport security! Amazing what they can fix these days...

PS We have a Black lab - no way my wife would let anything happen to next doors dog ( grumpy golden retriever) we are all just a little more careful now.

My son was just trying to share a dog bone between the neighbours two dogs - He decided the grumpy one had enough and it was the other ones turn. He was used to doing this with our dog (who would just give you sad eyes), the neighbours dog went for him.

Anyway plastic surgen did a good job and no real permanent damage...

I must have had an  with me. There is no other way I would have survived that wreck. I'm very blessed. And it doesn't even go off in an airport. It will with a handheld detector though. Freaked on family out at the HTUSA a couple weeks ago .

And It great that they were able to fix up your son. Another example of amazing things doctors can do. He probably won't even have scars :yipi:

Arct1k 04.22.2008 08:28 AM

Nothing noticeable on his face... His ear was almost pulled off but the stiching was all behind his ear so doesn't show... He's still not afraid of anything which is great.

bruce750i 04.22.2008 09:42 AM

Ouch! One equation not mention to often, butt proven all the time E=mc2. I saw a guy shut off a nitro motor on a revo after the header broke off, by pluging the broke off header with his finger. I thought to my self later that dude didn't even seem to notice the intense heat. Thats one tuff r/c finger!

BL_RV0 04.22.2008 10:36 AM

Here's my story... My friend, his little brother and I were out testing my Rustler with a Sidewinder 5700 on 3s. I was over by the side taking a pee and the little brother was driving. At the time, he was driving, and going up a fairly steep ramp, and when I was crossing, he plowed straight into my leg. At 50mph. Ow. Fortunately, this was about 2 months ago and I'm all healed up now. and yes, Lincpimp. I did cuss. Loudly.

JOEX 04.22.2008 04:03 PM

Hope Arct1k's son isn't terrified of dogs now... the psychological effects can be long lasting.

Did this a couple years ago.....

Arct1k 04.22.2008 04:07 PM

Nope we have our own and he still will say hello to the neighbours dog - tough kid. I hope to bring him to the RCM bash this year...

Jbreddawg 04.22.2008 04:42 PM

Owwww !!! That made me cringe and remember when my buddie and I were racing bolink onroad cars years ago. he forgot to turn on his radio first , plugged in his batt and it took off , bounced off a curb and headed straight back for him, he thought to stomp on it and when he did "sandles lol " it took his big toenail right off !!! Flew right through the air !! So, a few hours in the ER and about 10 stitches later , he now remembers to turn on his radio first lol !!

DrKnow65 04.22.2008 06:44 PM

BL-RVO, the realy sad visual is you jumping and cussing with the pee all down your leg ROLF :)

BL_RV0 04.22.2008 10:42 PM

Well, I made sure I stopped peeing. You see, I was done peeing because I was walking toward my friends to take the controller back. Now, would I have done that with my 11th finger feelin' the breeze between my knees? I sure hope not.
Now, about ROLF. It is ROFL. Last time I saw a floor laughing was... well... never.

I only have one thing to say...one handed typing...

DrKnow65 04.23.2008 09:26 AM

I get my pins out today so I'll be back to typing incorrectly with two hands soon.

P.S. I have seen a floor laughing, but that was back when drugs were better  I'd never take any of the stuff they pass off today as good  <---- going with the emotocons because you don't have to spell them

Wasn't RC related, just got into the hobby a couple months ago:smile:

I was pulling a box off of a shelf and lost grip then tried to catch it with my pinky:no:

BL_RV0 04.23.2008 10:53 AM

I got the inspiration from you, lincpimp. You see, I was falling asleep in my chair when I wrote that! So, I suppose we are a bit alike. Only difference I can see right now is that I don't have the money to own 40 brushless RC's!:happy:

_paralyzed_ 04.23.2008 11:42 AM

I drove my honda crx into the back of a semi once, totalled the car, ripped the aorta off my heart, and became paralyzed during the subsequent heart surgery, the semi won that round, although I did knock some dirt off his trailer, ha!

kulangflow 04.23.2008 12:01 PM

^^^ you win.

I was a passenger in my former girlfriend's car and we got run over by a semi trailer, but it was at low speed. It flipped the car on it's side and drug us down the road for 150 feet before it let go. No injuries, but the car was destroyed. I thought it was hilarious even as it was happening. She was scared to death, but not hurt.

R/C injury related: My CRT.5's spur gear ripped some skin off my finger when the radio glitched and it took off at full throttle. I was holding by the bottom of the chassis when it happened. It's all better now though.

aqwut 04.23.2008 01:10 PM

My seat broke and got my Stick/Stones caught in between the frame and back tire of my mountain bike... That didn't feel good..

Fast5sRevo88 04.24.2008 12:30 PM

I accidently cut my thumb all the way to the bone with my Dremel (cutting wheel), I sawed through a little bit of bone too while i was at it:lol: No need for pictures here though because of the meat hangin, blood squirting, and bone shavings!

:oh: Oooh, that had to hurt!

@Fast5sRevo: Well, maybe a posted picture wouldn't be good, but at least post a link to the picture so those who have the stomach can see...

suicideneil 04.24.2008 07:46 PM

I sawed through the end of my thumb with a junior hacksaw a few weeks back- blade skipped on the aluminum during the 1st stroke, and went about 6~7mm into the end of my thumb, straight through the nail like butter. Didnt hurt at first, but later it ached like heck.

Fast forward to 00:46...

DrKnow65 04.26.2008 01:35 AM

Thanks BL_RVO, gonna have to clean the lucky charms cereal off my keyboard. So much for my quick midnight snack hahahaha

Worst thing is I was even mentally counting down to 00:46 and still managed to blow cereal. Why is it so funny to watch someone get hurt?????

That was a good one, I did almost the same thing to myself when I decided to fire up my first brushless emaxx before programming the radio to the esc. It took off my desk at full tilt, taking my arm with it. Very funny, and the dent is still in the wall!

I just love typing in "accidents" into youtube, and just laughing my ass off...the boating accidents are the best!
