Who is going to win American Idol?
American Idol is really good this year! :yipi:
I could be wrong, but I think one of the David's is going to win it this year. I REALLY enjoyed Leona Lewis's live performance on the show last night. If you haven't seen her yet, check out this new smash hit Pop Star! *swoon* Bleeding Love! Wow! http://www.leonalewismusic.co.uk/ind...ternational/us |
Which David, Cook or Archuleta?
I can’t stand Archuleta! Talk about an annoying naïve and far to adolescent minded teenager. He’s simply too inexperienced with life in general for him to be an idol. But as seen in last night’s results show, it’s now clearly a “popular vote” contest and no one can argue Archuleta doesn’t have a huge following! Afterall who actually votes on this show anyway, it’s the very young teenage female demographic and maybe some old folks. Archuleta’s clearly stole their vote “because he’s just so damn cute” :slap: ~makes me sick… |
My fav by far is David Cook. Also, I'm really getting tired of the constantly skewed praise towards some of the other contestants though (cough, David Archuleta, cough). I can see this season being like the season Taylor Hicks won...the best performer doesn't win and one of the other contestants makes the show look stupid when they have a multiplatinum album (ala Daughtry).
|
I hear you on the "Popular Vote" thing. I felt like last night's bottom 2 was entirely misplaced.
IMO, I would have thought Jason and Brooke would have been sitting on those stools. Carly and Syesha both gave MUCH stronger performances for the night. Even though Carly left, we haven't seen the last of her at all. She WILL be a star. :yipi: (aka the Daughtry Syndrome) With the David Archuleta image, yeah I see your point. BUT, you should see how my two teenage daughters react to the image he projects. Sorry, but in the eyes of the producers, this SELLS! His voice is on par. He can go just about anywhere and hits almost every key on target. David Cook is another story. He is overflowing with talent. He has the voice and also, one of his strongest points is his creative ability. Doesn't mind a challenge or going out on a limb. He's good! VERY good! |

I still think his album will easily be outsold by David Cook. David A may have all the teen girls, but I'd bet David Cook has a large following of men and women from 20-40yo...much larger demographic than teen girls. |
With pure talent and maturity I think David Cook should when. Although Brooke has a really beautiful pure voice when she does a good performance.
Little David - like was said above - has a really amazing voice and will become a great singer - in 8-10 years once he has some life experience under his belt. He just seems a little too innocent and sheltered at this time - I think if he becomes a big star now he won't know how to handle it and will end up in a corner twitching somewhere with a hypo up his arm. |
Well, I am not much for American Idol, as my music tastes are not really aligned with the shows target audience. I will say that this years male contestants are decent singers. I prefer a true musician to a singer. If thwey had some sort of show that pitted bands against each other I would watch that. Or if Idol had these "singers" do any of Weird Al's songs, that would be worth watching. I did have to laugh at the Andrew Lloyd Weber episode, that was funny. Not much for musicals either but he is one of the best when it comes to that stuff. To each his own, I will stick to the discovery channel, and will ferrell movies! And monty python!

Sorry but I care because?
Bit more focussed on Sub-Prime / Credit crisis, Gas prices, Instability in middle east & sub-saharan africa, global warming, MMM and spread HIV... But Simon Cowell can read a funny line (that some backroom person wrote for him) and very rich now... Give me a shrubbery anyday... Ni ni ni |

It is nice to see that you are slightly more interested in the MMM than HIV. I do not care about Global warming as it is most likely just a part of the cyclic nature of the earth that we are agravating a bit. Plus it will not matter in my life-time, and I am selfish so screw everyone else. Plus there is very little that I can do about it. I have cut down my energy usage, more for the fact of money savings than anything else. And I am going to start riding my bicycle to work, that will cut down gas usuage. I will not post my thoughts on the various war situations, my soap box can't handle that sort of weight! |
but even more importantly, on General Hospital, poor Carly's son Michael is in a coma. Will he ever wake up? Will his father, mob boss Sonny Corinthos avenge his shooting? Is Nicholas going to have the surgery to remove his brain tumor, even though that could mean no more hallucinations allowing him to see the love of his life, the sweet and beautiful Emily Quartermaine? A much better soap opera than America Idle, IMO

My sentiments exactly.
I used to like watching pop idol and all that shite, but it just gets very 'samey' after the millionth series, and I only tune in to see if there are any hot girls on the show. Speaking of which: Leona Lewis = **faints** ..... such an amazing voice, and looks to match  |
I tuned out a couple weeks ago because sleeping is cooler, and getting up at 5:20am every morning can only be made slightly easier with more sleep. That is, unless something stupid comes up and I help my friend turbo his '59 Baja Bug and don't get to bed until 1am or so........ugh, not fun the next day!

Interesting, she does look good, but you can turn on the country music channel (make sure it is muted for god's sake) and see a ton of good looking women. The song on the other hand was written on the back of a napkin during a poor convention meal. Same BS lyrics, with the vocal "rifting" to make it all fit to the std pop beat. Vocal "rifting" is that part where people make word like noises with their mount, usually to stretch out a word to make it fit the beat. I really should start writing my own songs that parody this crap, but I will leave that to Weird Al! Sorry guys, but way too cookie cutter for my tastes. These people do have talent, but I can never place them in the same circle as a true musican. Most pop singers do not write their own lyrics, and few can play an instrument, other than the piano. Mostly they are marketable images that can cary a tune. |

That said however, a small few actually stand for something more then number of viewers tuned in and/or revenue generated. Such as the “Idol Gives Back” program raising funds for charities in this country and abroad (and endorsed by good ol GW). Another is “The Biggest Loser”, which although may initially seem a bit disturbing to watch heavy people struggle with the disease of obesity on national television, the show actually changes the contestants lives (for the better) and inspires millions of viewers who also struggle with weight. What a great program and best part is, they have a continuing theme of encouragement with weight tips and advice geared to the viewer throughout each segment… [/digest] |
I can understand those comments. 'Popstars' are for the main part a bunch of talentless goits who cant sing live to save their lives, but LL does have an amzing voice none the less. Someone else who has a great voice and can play an instrument is Jose Gonzalez; love his music.
