Conversion kit for E-Maxx chassis

At the RCX show in Pomona I saw at the RC Monster booth that there was a conversion kit to use the newer e-maxx tranny with the FLM chassis kit. Will that be available soon? I plan to be upgrading from an old HV Maxx (375 watts) to the MMM when the motor+ ESC kits come out.

I think it may appear in the store sooner or later, but at the moment it is a custom-made item- email mike and he will sort you out with one. $17 + S&H I believe.

Yep. that's a kit from FLM; it will be available; i think you can shoot Mike an email with a request for a set.

Fast5sRevo88 05.05.2008 01:36 PM

We're talking about the tranny from the 3905 emaxx, right?

Serum 05.05.2008 01:53 PM

yep, the 3905 tranny in the FLM e-maxx chassis.

DRIFT_BUGGY 05.05.2008 05:31 PM

Didn't take long

TDC57 05.08.2008 03:31 AM

Yes that was my truck you saw it on and Mike should be able to get you the part. The part Number is FLM 10600 it sold for 17 + shipping.

I removed it from my FLM chassis and installed it on a my G3. build. So it pretty much interchangeable between the GM and FLM.. The GM requires some new drilling to fit and will limit you to a 44 spur gear though..

Hey TDC what knuckles do you have on that rig?

TDC57 05.08.2008 03:44 AM

I hate to admit it out loud! But they are Integy.. Part number is T3016 they cost me $76.00 for all four..

Fast5sRevo88 05.08.2008 12:54 PM

Hey TDC, did u have to do anything special to get that waterproof reciever box attached to the FLM emaxx chassis?

If your planning on using the duel steering servos then you will need to cutoff the end of the 3905 rx box (IE) the part that holds down the wires going into the box. :oh:

If you plan on using a single steering servo then no issues (piece of cake) it wont be centered like it is shown but it provide you with a full water protection and (heck) a little offset never hearts anything.

Hope that helps..

Have a great one.

Fast5sRevo88 05.08.2008 08:57 PM

That's great, i will be using a single servo setup. I knew my JR 320oz/in digital servo was good for something!

OOOo yah.. No worries at all Fast5sRevo88..
You’re going to love the JR servo.. I’ve always had great success with mine. I’ve got the JR DS8711 in both of my builds.. I just love the 400 oz of torque it provides.. I stripped my anodized off for my GEVO

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_2407.jpg

But left it on my G3

Fast5sRevo88 05.09.2008 01:27 PM

I'll try to take a picture of it, but Mr. JR might be mad at me for taking his freind away (I'm planning on selling my G3R:whip:). You ever seen a mad steering servo?, its out of control.

Fast5sRevo88 05.09.2008 08:56 PM

Hay Fast5sRevo88..
Absolutely no drilling was required for me, but then again I was centered, where you will not be, the stock 3905 RX box lined up perfectly with the existing holes on the FLM chassis. Looking at my rig and knowing what you about to do you will have to drill one hole or you can simple use a thin piece of Plexiglas to cover the servo hole on the right side and then drill two holes (the same as the existing RX box) through the Plexiglas! The entire process should take you all of 20 minutes (piece of cake).. No worries..

Hope that helps?

Have a great one..

Shaun.

Fast5sRevo88 05.10.2008 12:50 PM

Oops!, sorry i didn't specify, i meant for the RCM-FLM tranny mounts going on the G3.:intello:

TDC57 05.11.2008 12:54 AM

OOOoooo.. it would help if had known that’s what you meant (me bad)..

First you will need the FLM 10600 trany adapter on the transmission and review your placement options. Two options are available (front or rear), I chose the rear so wouldn’t encroach on the front servo plate.

Then you should run a screw on both side of the transmission through the frame rails. These screw will work on the back front hole. (IE) the transmission holes are (4) total on each side and they are broken up in sets of two with the divider in the middle so the only original screw hole that will work in the back set / front hole.

Then you will need to enlarge two of the existing holes per chasis rail, I ran mine in rear back and front back holes. The front / front hole doesn’t work with the transmission adapter on each side of the frame rails, I found that the dermal works best for this. (you do know that you can only use a total of (6) screws?)

GO SLOW and for god sakes man!!:mdr: don’t drink or (whatever) before attempting this rail fabrication!! But one you successfully completed this fabrication then by all means feel free to indulge in the finest brain cell killers money (and the law “wink, wink” will allow.. :yipi:

You will also need buy longer transmission screws and washers for them… the screw size is 20-25mmL (I think??) your call..

That about it (simple haaaa)

Hope that helps??

Have a great one..

TDC57 05.20.2008 01:22 AM

So how is your conversion coming Fast5sREVO88?? Any updates for the team??.

Thanks for your time and have a great one..

Fast5sRevo88 05.20.2008 12:15 PM

Well, that conversion got side-lined for now, at the race the other night my G3Revo blew a diff or so i thought:oh:, it turned out the center front shaft came loose, it was dark at the race so i couldn't see that the pin was missing:lol:, anyway, i also broke a rear plastic shaft on it, so i'm having to do an emergency CVD-section:rofl:. My stepdad also wants to start racing after he saw the race; first timer:whip:, so i have to get my X1-CRT BL-ed and ready to race so that he can run the Revo:tongue:

JERRY2KONE 05.20.2008 12:24 PM

Switch.

Wow thats a switch:gasp:. It is usually the fathers trying to get their kids into the hobby, and here you are helping your stepdad acquire the addiction:lol:. He does know that it is an addiction right? There is no 12 step program to help kick the habbit either:whistle:. Once your in there goes your extra play money and maybe even some of your bill money:oh:. What a great way to bond with your family though, but to get the whole family involved in BL racing:yipi:. Way to go Revo88:intello:.

Fast5sRevo88 05.22.2008 07:37 PM

Yea Jerry, its a switch. Up until the race he didn't understand why i spent so much time working on my trucks. TDC, u can use the center driveshafts, but was u able to use the traxxas outer drive steel CVDs?

I'm afraid not this time, I'm going to let him practice with my mini Raminator before i hand over one of my million-dollar trucks:lol:.

Buzzsaw46 05.24.2008 10:53 AM

Hey guys, would this adaptor plate work with my FLM EXT-maxx chassis? I would love to convert the T but dont want to spend a fortune on it! $17 for the adaptor and a 3905 tranny would be well within budget!

This adaptor was actually specifically designed for the FLM chassis.

Buzzsaw46 05.24.2008 05:24 PM

I know it was made for the FLM E-Maxx chassis I was wondering if it would work with the EXT .21 nitro chassis, so I dont have to spend the $90 on an E chassis. From what I can see though it should work.

TDC57 05.25.2008 01:37 AM

Hay Buzzsaw (If that it your real name?) HHhaaaa hhaaa :lol: sorry I’m in a mood.. I would call or email Mike AKA the MONSTER! and ask him??. I wish I knew the answer but I don’t..

Sorry and have a great one..

Shaun.

Buzzsaw46 05.25.2008 06:06 PM

Ya I might have to contact Fastlane or Mike, thanks anyway. Not sure if I'll go that way yet but will look at using the Nitro chassis too save a few bucks.

TDC57 05.26.2008 01:18 AM

Hay Buzzsaw46, I would assume so since it's a FLM product anyway, but I just would take it the bank.. Sorry about last night (no harm SIR)..

Best of luck with build and once you know can you update the so we know..

Thanks for your time and have a great one..

Buzzsaw46 05.26.2008 04:10 AM

No need to apologize, on the surface it does seem like a dumb question:wink: but not knowing much about the 3906 E-maxx or it's aftermarket chassis's I had to ask. You guys appeared to be experts on the adaptor, although I should have guessed the FLM EXT-Maxx chassis would be foreign too you, my bad:whistle:

I might just decide to sell the T-maxx chassis and buy the E-maxx one, but I heard a rumor that FLM was working on a new chassis for the 3905, so it might just be in my best interest to sit tight and see what comes available this summer. IIRC Mike was working on a center diff mount for the maxx that might be fun to try also. All I know for sure is my T-maxx is my last remaining nitro, I switched to electric 8yrs ago in planes and 7yrs ago in helis, the trucks I just started converting this winter, I really thought I would miss the smell and sound of a big block nitro monster but the truth is I like it quiet better:yes:

Still not exactly sure which way I'll go in the end, I might even sell the T-maxx complete and do an E-revo, just want to explore all my options first.
