Would this work?

I have a spare motor and a spare speed controller. The only problem is that the motor is a 18th scale Dynomite C4 9200kv and the controller is a BK 9920.
Over kill on the contoller I know but would it work?

MetalMan 05.08.2008 01:46 AM

It most certainly would.

Serum 05.08.2008 01:50 AM

that will work Johnny.

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 05.08.2008 02:11 AM

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 05.08.2008 03:10 AM

Ok, that's not working out so well.
I give it a little throttle (maybe 5-10% and it works fine. If I go any more than that, it starts to pulse. On, off, on, off, on, off and motor starts to get warm. Tried it with a 2s and 3s...didn't make a difference. I am not running a ubec. Left the black jumper in. I did not hear any beeps when I programmed it.
What the heck?

MTBikerTim 05.08.2008 03:30 AM

Possibly rpm too high for the 9920? Was the motor unloaded?

aqwut 05.08.2008 11:52 AM

9920 can only take 40K rpms right?...

What's_nitro? 05.08.2008 06:26 PM

Yeah that's it. I was gonna say you need to keep the voltage under like 5 volts or it will over-rev the 9920. I believe the limit is 42k. That's a 1S motor!

jzemaxx 05.08.2008 06:36 PM

Hmm, my buddy runs an 8XL with a 9920 on 6S in testing on the stampede. That is over 42K rpms I thought.

brushlessboy16 05.08.2008 06:38 PM

maybe not under load?

lydiasdad 05.08.2008 07:28 PM

I believe with a 2 pole motor the esc's limit is 100k

jzemaxx 05.08.2008 07:31 PM

I thought a 9920 would not run anything more then a 2 pole. I had understood it will not work with a Neu 4 pole.

lydiasdad 05.08.2008 07:58 PM

I think your right, but the instructions for my 7020 say 2 pole motors 100k, 4 pole 50k. ????

What's_nitro? 05.08.2008 08:17 PM

Maybe mine is an old version? It's actually a 12020, but same firmware. It had a 42K 2-pole limit. I ran a Lehner XL2800 on 4S and hit the rev limit at 3/4 throttle. It wasn't pretty.

lutach 05.08.2008 08:26 PM

It should be 100K for 2pole. I have the 3695 and it only goes to 42K.

aqwut 05.08.2008 08:57 PM

I've ran 8XL on 6S as well on an LST... but it probably doesn't get those the rpm limit when under load....

I run a 15l feigao on 5s lipo and have not had any issues, that is around 30k.

Well I just tried it on a 1s that I had. Same pulsation. I will try to reprogram it and see if that does anything.

What's_nitro? 05.09.2008 06:52 PM

Could it be interference??? I have no idea from what...

Yeah, I would try reprogramming and see if it helps. Does it "glitch" with any of your other motors?

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 05.11.2008 02:58 PM

Well I reprogrammed it and no dice. I hooked up an old 9L that I have and it worked fine. I guess the little motor doesn't like the big speed control.
