Were there any changes in that though for the MMM?

MTBikerTim 05.08.2008 10:45 PM

Installs fine for me too. Maybe try deleting cache and download again.

JerryF504 05.08.2008 11:20 PM

I had the same problem a week or so ago. I just ended up uninstalling THE Castle Link software and reinstalling the previous version (V3.04).

Five-oh-joe 05.08.2008 11:31 PM

Ouch. Is that installing it by doing "run as administrator" too?

MTBikerTim 05.08.2008 11:37 PM

Must be a vista security issue. Works fine on XP.

DRIFT_BUGGY 05.08.2008 11:45 PM

I had this problem when I had the Mamba Max ( 1 1/2 years ago) Ill try and find out what I did to correct it

I'm running XP SP2.

DickyT 05.08.2008 11:47 PM

Mine installed and works great on XP sp2. Download a fresh copy.

azjc 05.08.2008 11:51 PM

the SW upgrade was for helicoptor /airplane use...maybe this is the problem

I did re-download it and try installing it again with the same outcome.

Did you clear your cache before downloading again?

BrianG 05.09.2008 12:35 AM

Also, are you using a download manager? Some sites don't like that...

Yes. It corrects an issue with the MMM not running when a cutom cutoff voltage was selected. I worked perfectly on AutoLipo setting, but with any custom settings it would not run. This update fixed the problem I downloaded it and updated tonight and it works perfectly on custom cutoff now.

Arct1k 05.09.2008 08:21 AM

Well tried installing an old version and I get a similar error - I've done a purge through the registry and deleted any dir's.

I guess I'll reboot and try again tonight.... The only thing I can think of is I didn't uninstall before the install I figure the package would do that for me... Maybe not cleanly...

JerryF504 05.09.2008 12:04 PM

Well I tried uninstalling v3.04 and clearing my cache. I looked around in the registry a little and didn't see anything obvious, but I'm not comfortable playing around in there so I left everything alone. I even restarted just in case that might help. Then I redownloaded the newest version (v3.051) and came up with the same error. I was thinking that the problem may have been fixed because the version I had problems with before was v3.05. Also, I don't use a download manager. Luckily I still had the setup file for v3.04 and it installs fine.

jhautz 05.09.2008 09:41 PM

Are you guys downloading the install file and saving it to your computer and then running it or just coosing run form the dowload options.

I downloaded the 3.51 file to a folder on my computer first, then ran it from there and I didnt have any problem at all.

JerryF504 05.09.2008 10:00 PM

Yeah, I downloaded the CastleLinkInstall_3051.exe file to my Program Files folder and opened it from there, that's how I still had the v3.04 and v3.05 to reinstall.

Arct1k 05.09.2008 10:26 PM

Yeah done all that - for whatever reason the install cab seems to get corrupted on extract :(

No problem I'll just have to boot back into xp for changes

I have the same problem. I have no clue how to fix this as I am not very computer savvy. The old 3.04 version will not program the controller. What to do???

BrianG 05.10.2008 12:10 AM

Is the embedded extractor at fault (maybe not completely Vista compatible), or is the whole file corrupt? Depending on the program, you might be able to manually extract the files using something like WinRAR.

Just a thought...

I am also using XP sp2. Thanks for the tip, but I'll just screw something up if I try and mess with manual extraction and whatnot

lincpimp 05.10.2008 01:53 AM

Possibly a bumd question, but is this new firmware needed for the MMM? Has anyone tried it yet and seen any difference?

Supposedly the new firmware fixes a bug where you couldn't set a custom LVC voltage in the MMM.

Arct1k 05.10.2008 08:24 AM

Brian i tried that to - used albzip to extract the files and then tried to create my own cab - bummed that didn't work.

None castle packages now work. I wonder if it could be Vista SP1 having an issue with their format of cab file...

i was hoping castle would have fixed this issue, its a pita, when i go over to other peoples places to try and use the CC software its better to just not try:cry:

myself, i only run XP... not touching vista until i actually need to.. part from DX10, i dont see any reason to switch... its just all the premade computers come with vista home basic here which is worse imo than 98SE!!!:gasp:

FatBoyRacing 05.11.2008 10:45 AM

I tried 3.051 on a different computer and it still hits me with that error. Both machines are XP with SP2. I could really use some help on this cause it SUCKS!!!

killjoyken 05.11.2008 03:24 PM

I'm also running XP and had a little error after installing and trying to run it for the first time. I forgot to close castlelink while installing though.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...linkupdate.jpg

I uninstalled it and re-installed it and now it works perfectly.

I can't even get through the install completely. At the very end is when it gets me.

That's what happens to me also. It leaves you with no Castle Link installed at all.

Arct1k 05.11.2008 07:48 PM

Ditto It has just done the same on my wife's xp machine to I think it ias a castle issue

I think so too, I sent them an email a little while ago. I'll post up when they reply.

MTBikerTim 05.11.2008 10:10 PM

I'd try deleting any temp file left by the installer. Not sure where those temp files might be exactly but try the usual places.

blueb8llz 05.12.2008 01:59 AM

so for all you guys that cant run the software, does this mean you cant run your cars either? or is there a default so you can still run your truck but just cant mess with the curves yet? if there is a default, will it work on lipos and does it have a default lvc? or is default only programmed for nicd/nimhs?

jhautz 05.12.2008 07:59 AM

The stick programming should still work without a computer to get yourself up and going at least. Can at least set it to auto lipo mode.

Arct1k 05.12.2008 10:11 AM

This isn't a cache issue - I've traced all files written etc - The rollback process is actually very clean at removing the install files.

I was hoping it was vista specific but it appears if there is something else in play. It was a touch of a suprise really to have issues with my wifes machines as we have quite different setups...

I hope the arn't having QA issues with the software install and the MMM...

I can reinstall the older version that I downloaded a few weeks ago, but it doesn't allow me to set the lvc on the Monster above 17.1 volts. I can still run it just without lvc.

rabosi 05.12.2008 11:55 AM

I don't have an issue with the new version and I also run xp sp2. Maybe you guys having issues have a conflict with other software or drivers. Have you tried closing any apps that may be running in the background?

Arct1k 05.12.2008 12:17 PM

Anything is possible given that PC setups are very variable on OS / Software - I'd like a version of software with just the msi and cab package to try first. Then a zip of the inner cab files for me to try creating my own cab.
