optimum Neu for revo 6s

ordered the MMM and I have two 8000 mah maxamps 6s

found this motor for like $140 NEU 1512/3D will it run as good as the 1515 1d or 1.5d?

suicideneil 05.13.2008 07:49 PM

You really wouldnt run either of those motors on 6s, not unless you wanted to kill them in a hurry- 1d = 4100kv! and the 1.5d = 2700kv. These are not hvmaxx motors, they dont need to be span that fast to make any kind of power.

The 1512 3d = 1700kv, which is ideal for 6s. What are your specific goals though, as that will ultimately determine the best alround motor.

Neil I would say my goal is to have my revo run comfortable and reliable between 40 and 50 mph on 4s or 5s and have the ability to kick it up to 60 or 70 on 6s if I wanted......sounds like the 1512 3d is my answer?

I have a 6s Revo with a 1515/2.5d....a primo setup

If you're going to do most of your running on 4 and 5s and 6s only for speed runs I'd probably get a 1515 1y (2200kv) or 1515 2d (2050kv). No higher kv than the 1515 1.5d (2700kv).
If you wanted to do 40-50mph normal use on 6s, the 1515 2.5d (1650kv) works well for me.

ok i'm fine with 40 to 50 mph but what is the differance between the 1515 2.5d and the 1512 3d they both have about the same KV (1700) so what is the advantage or disatvantage of each?

Arct1k 05.14.2008 02:33 PM

1515 2.5d would be my bet - more torque but heavier

suicideneil 05.14.2008 05:42 PM

Difference is the size- tyhe 1512 is a shorter motor than the 1515; ideally you want the longer motor if you plan to do some high speed stuff at any point= more torque. Smaller motor will have a harder time pulling taller gearing.

which motor would you suggest for 4s lipo, and 4s a123 (possibly 5sa123)

any of the medusa motors cut it or would i need another brand? (want something of decent quality, but teh price of the neu's hurts!

this will be going in a buggy... geared relatively fast (prolly 40-45mph, i just dont know how fast that really is, esp on our track (www.brisbanedirtracing.com)

thanks. sorry but i figured its 1 less thread!

I would wait a month to see if CC bring out the cheaper neu clone... If you need it ASAP a 2200 xl can medusa should be fine

NEU 1515 2.5D 1700 KV IS MY SET UP OF CHOICE

TexasSP 05.14.2008 09:25 PM

I am about to try the 1500 kv 60mm can medusa in my e-maxx on 6s. According to linc, they are very nice motors, and for some reason or another, I actually trust his judgement!

I will report back on how it does.

I'm very very interested to hear how that motor performs....looking forward to your findings

Another vote for 1515 2.5D on 6s, great performer!

jzemaxx 05.14.2008 11:54 PM

I vote 1515 1.5D or 1Y on 6S.

I just got the motor in, but unfortunately my Monster is on it's way to CC for repair. Hopefully I will have it by next weekend and can hook it all up. It's a nice heavy motor and the magnets are strong. The rotor is hard to turn by hand so this thing should have some great torque.
