What Truggy to convert next?

So now that I've got my CRT running, I'm itching to buy another truggy to convert. I need a chassis that I can work with to get twin Trakpower packs mounted on like on my CRT. Right now, I'm either leaning towards buying another CRT or possibly picking up a MBX5T Prospec since they're on sale at amain for under $500 shipped. I'd like to keep the cost of the roller to under $500. Any other options I should look at? What do you guys think?

Also, if anyone is selling a truggy they think I might be interested in, PM me.

bl-is-future 05.27.2008 10:57 AM

i have always liked the kyosho st-r and now they have the st-rr out. I will do one of these eventually for myself.

lincpimp 05.27.2008 10:58 AM

I have a crt if you are interested... I just do not think I will ever get around to using it.

Sent you a PM James.

The only thing bad about the Kyosho is that it's the most expensive truggy roller out there.

What about the Ofna Hyper ST? Only $400 here.

+1. I'd just wait a little until the price drops. I also saw the mbx5t prospec for under $500 at A-Main and was actually thinking about doing one myself. So I'd be very interested in the build if you went that route.

skellyo 05.27.2008 07:10 PM

While the RC8T might be nice looking, I don't race and cannot justify waiting 2 months on it to come out.

TexasSP 05.27.2008 07:21 PM

What all do you have now besides the CRT?

bdebde and some others have had an influence on me to convert a muggy. I am still contemplating and think that having something in the middle between truggy and monster would be nice.

skellyo 05.27.2008 07:23 PM

I've currently got:

MBX5
CRT
2 X VXL Rustlers
Axial AX10
RC18T
Mini Quake SE
2 X XTM Rages
Losi Slider

How do you have the trakpowers mounted in the CRT?

JERRY2KONE 05.28.2008 07:19 AM

Choices.

That is the problem. There are just way too many choices out there, and no matter what you end up getting there will be something else that you want out there. I really liked the look of that XRAY 808 that TDC is building. That vehicle is one serious statement of quality in engineering for the R/C commmunity. Just a thought.

I kinda meant what's the battery lay out you have in the CRT, since you want to keep it the same in the next car, but I saw a picture of your car again, so I know now.
This is the only car I've seen in person with the same layout. Kyosho ST-RR.

It has a 1515 2D (2050kv) in it now.

Arct1k 05.29.2008 08:13 AM

I did it with an LSP but not sure it could take a trackpower.

Why another truggy?

Already have a buggy and really like the ruggedness of a 1/8th truggy.

skellyo 05.29.2008 09:48 AM

FWIW, I bought another X1-CRT Pro. I ended up finding a killer deal on a new one.

BL_RV0 05.29.2008 09:59 AM

Was it from ImpaktRC?

Yep, sure was. I called them up to verify exactly which shocks were in the kit, then ordered it right after I got off the phone with them.

BL_RV0 05.29.2008 10:05 AM

Nice. I was going to pick it up next week if it wasn't sold by then. At least it could go to a fellow forum member. I'll just get a Hyper ST instead.

I really like the build quality and engineering of the hyper st. I need to get off my but and finish mine. Going to go with a hacker 11xl, 6s lipo and a MMM.

So which shocks were they?

skellyo 05.30.2008 06:32 AM

They are the standard 13mm big bores instead of the 16mm super big bores.

Sounds like a great conversion. What KV is the 11xl?
