Replacement Warranty for Quark?

I recently had my Quark ProCar 33 catch fire when running 4s. It is specified to handle this voltage and was set up properly. I ran this setup in my Mini Inferno ST for a month using 3s lipo with no problems. The ESC was purchased new in Feb. I've sent emails to Quark (Sky & Technology) but have not received a response yet. Anyone have some advice?:eyes:

Arct1k 06.16.2008 12:49 PM

You could try contacting your CC company or face defeat and buy a CC micro pro..

asheck 06.16.2008 12:51 PM

http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12710 This might help

killajb 06.16.2008 01:03 PM

Thank you very much asheck, I will plead my case there.

Arct1k, I already have a cc micro pro and a few other 25-35amp brushless ESCs. I'm sure I speak for everyone here who has not abused equipment only to see it fail, in that I hope to have it replaced.

No problem guys.I was in the same boat as far as unsure whether to use a new 1 or sell it.But I to had my mind eased by a response.

I contacted Joe from Quark and got a prompt response. It is very assuring to get such great customer support. I will indeed continue to use Quark products in the future~

Response to my inquiry went as follows:

Thank you for use our product.

please send it to us, I'll do replacement for you

Yes,very reassuring indeed.

Duster_360 06.17.2008 09:23 PM

Absolutely!! I have two nib 125b's that are now getting ready to see some use. I've made a note of this in case I ever need it. Thanks for providing even more detail!!

I have a quark 33a pro car that I am replacing with a Mamba Pro (when it arrives). Any reason why you prefer the 33a over the micro pro other than the higher voltage handling. Also what motors have you used with the escs? My friends and I find the quark not to be smooth on the castle motors which is why I'm getting the castle controller. The 33a seems to work well with the wraith 7000 motor though.

I'm running a nice chrome outrunner with it. The Quark handles it very well without cogging issues at all. The outrunner has so much torque that I prefer to use the Quarks profiles to control it. BTW, I have quite a few mini's and each of them has a sweet set-up, from CC/Hyperion, CC/Permax, Quark/Align.. uh you get the picture. If ya don't, here's one that may help:

Duster_360 06.18.2008 09:29 PM

I got my 33a before this latest gen of CC controllers appeared so I didn't have that as an option. I bought it for the increased amps, but from what I've read/learned here, my old mamba 25s prob can handle just as much.

I've run a hyp 5000 long can, feigao 414L and 421s motors and getting ready to run a permax bl480. The 33a has never gotten much more than warm. I've also just replaced batt with a FP 1600 20C pac which should be the most power of any system I've run in my 18ths. I expect the 33a to do a good job with that combo also.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I finally smoked my Quark 125b yesterday. Did you ever get your ESC replaced? Did they charge you, and how quick was the service? I'm not expecting much but I e-mailed the person you posted and I might as well give it a shot.

bensf 08.25.2008 01:10 AM

I sent mine in a few weeks ago. Haven't heard anything at all. I think i might send them another email. I did get a response to my first one in a timely manner and they said they would replace it even though it was a few weeks out of the warranty period.

Ha, I turned my 16 month old 125b into a smoke machine yesterday as well. Don't hit the throttle when rolling backwards at 15-20mph .
Hopefully their service will be as good as it was early last year.

Quark Warranty - has anyone had theirs back?

I too sent a Quark Monster 125b to the address in Korea by tracked mail and have tracking confirmation that Item was delivered. Inspite of a letter inside the package asking them to contact me via email to confirm receipt I have heard nothing. I have phoned them several times and I am getting nowhere.

Anybody in RCM know how I can get this resolved as the Quark Monster ESC are comparatively expensive and I have 3 which I am going to be reluctant using if customer service is going to be a problem.

Kajman 09.22.2008 03:08 AM

Well, I have the same experience, the worst is I lost my postage documents already. I sent my fried Quark SSB Mk03 to them, they claim they didn't get it and I am left with empty hands and wallet...

killajb 09.22.2008 05:27 PM

Good luck getting a response from Quark. I have sent numerous emails since I shipped out my burned esc back in June, to no avail. Might be better to keep what you have left until you hear that someone else has received contact with them.

zeropointbug 09.22.2008 05:58 PM

They've gone to hell in a hand basket...

lutach 09.22.2008 06:04 PM

Why don't you guys contact Hacker. I thought Hacker and Quark had a partnership thing going.

Kajman 09.23.2008 01:05 AM

Hacker does their bussines well, I don't think they would do anything not for their client. Other way is, that Quark said they will replace ESC, but they didn't get it.... Although they did.

tc3_racer_001 09.23.2008 01:34 AM

that just sucks, btw, have you noticed the number of MMM's failing has significantly reduced ( one every few days compared to one every few hrs when they first were shipped)

i think they have fixed the problem so i dont think there is much need for poor service any more!! (i.e. quark)

mohanjude 09.23.2008 02:12 AM

After my Quark Monster died on me - I had to replace it with another ESC. So I finally decided to open 1 of 3 brand new MMM boxes that have been sitting on the shelf. I thought things can't get any worse.... it has been over 2 weeks and the MMM is not playing up. I am running it with a Sport BEC with a Neu 1515 1Y on 6S. OK I realise that the 1Y is more a 4S motor but I have geared the truck to a sensible ratio and the truck is running fine. It is a full ally truck so it weighs a bit but MMM fan does not even come on as I am running the truck on tarmac.

I am going to keep my fingers crossed as I don't want to send another ESC off for repair. One positive thing is that since the new MMM have now got the bullets on the esc itself changing a MMM to another MMM is a snap - just swap the 5 bullet wires and you are off. With other ESC's I have the BEC / Lisaver etc hard wired to the Power input you have to rewire the input leads / connectors. Also having to take off the bullets on the motor end before shipping the esc is a pain as I don't want to keep buying new bullets every time I change the ESC.

Received replacement QUARK Monster from Korea

I am posting this message so that other forum members may benefit and it is only fair that I thank JoeJoe at Sky & Technology for sending a replacement ESC free of charge.

I heard nothing for a period of time and at the end of last week I received a single email form JoeJoe giving me Fedex tracking details. Today I received a Brand new ESC from Korea.

This has restored my faith in the company. However I also wish to add that I contacted a lot of people to find out what the situation was with Sky & Technology and maybe that may have helped to get things moving along.

Brian,

I used the address that was published in the forum before. However I believe due to my perseverance I got the product back. I had no response for many days but I contacted Sky & Technology almost every day, rang a couple of dealers and asked them if after sales service was a problem etc..

Here is the address I sent the ESC to and the phone number I rang on a daily basis and kept asking to speak to JoeJoe

Kajman 09.30.2008 05:46 PM

phatmonk 09.30.2008 09:30 PM

I've also sent him 2 emails and got no reply. Their homepage is also not working. If i'll get no reply within a week, i'll never buy a Quark controller again. :grrrrrr:

Incase anyone was wondering I sent mine off at the time of my post in this thread on the first page and I still haven't gotten a response even with numerous emails. Been way to long now and I have pretty much given up.

I am sorry to hear that. I sent mine to Korea and had to chase it up with several phone calls and finally got it back in about 20 days - it was sent back via fedex free of charge to the UK. I cannot grumble but for the first days JoeJoh from Quark kept saying he did not receive my esc inspite of a tracked package showing it been delivered. When I supplied the name of the person who signed for the package they found my esc. I believe somebody else sent the esc to korea and quark said they did not receive it. I sent mine to the address on the website rather than the address on the esc box.
