Yeah Racing Lipo?

RCmart.com has a pretty unknown company called yeah racing. Before I had my dark impact, i had never heard of them. they have a 3200mAh battery that seems almost identical to the Orion/peak 3200 lipos, only it has built in wires. This is by far the cheapest battery I have seen. Only $35!!! Its rated for 20C and is almost identical specs to most 6 cell nimh packs. With two of these I could make a 4s 3200 pack or a 2s2p 6400 pack easy and for half of what it would cost to get a pack from a well known company. So I gotta ask. Anyone run one and anyone have any thoughts on it?

I'd try them for the price. Looks decent, good reviews there too.

Revracer 06.18.2008 09:30 PM

Yeh $35 and 8 reviews, all of which say its a good battery. Of course they probably aren't in VXL stampedes and brushless revos(id get two and make a 4s). Both of which draw a good amount of power...

Maciolus 06.19.2008 12:24 AM

I have two of these packs and I am running it with MM 4600kv in 10th scale touring car.

I have not opened the case yet. There is nice 12 AWG wire attached and balancing tap compatibile with my Hyperion after removing small piece of plastic. Case fits perfectly chassis of HB Cyclone S. Cells are closely balanced.

My packs are after approx 10 cycles. I have expected them to to die after first one or two cycles, but they work realy good :) I have got plenty of power and 15-17 min runtime :) Honestly I am so impressed with these 35$ batteries that I have ordered next pack few days ago.

My setup is not consuming many amps, so someone have to test these cells in something bigger or faster.

johnrobholmes 06.19.2008 12:51 AM

I highly doubt it is actually 20C for that price, but not bad price for even 10C cells honestly.

Yes I might end up ordering one anyways to run in my TC. Its running a LRP sphere comp with a reedy neo-one 4star (4turn). I would really like to order two and try it out as a 4s pack but I'm a little worried that it wont be able to push that kind of power. Glad to hear a lot of people are using them and they are working well. its also good to hear that itl work with hyperion stuff since thats what i have

and johnrobholmes, did you have to put that in here??? hahaha

tc3_racer_001 06.19.2008 05:26 AM

ok, they are almost identical (oriion screwed up and forgot to copyright the case design quick enough) so they copied :)

when comparing them physically, the yeah ones and MUCH heavier than the orion ones. great reports here, no one has been dissapointed and id guess 80-90% of people re order... havent seem them used but VERY popular here in TC, esp modified. they run the novak 3.5's fine without any issues. packs stay in balance well aparently too...
hope this helps. perhaps not suitable for massive conversions due to low capacity.

might i add, i saw somewhere where if you wernt happy with it or it stuffed up you got a free replacement... these are close to or correcly rated @ 20C.

rcmonkey 06.19.2008 10:08 AM

NO, IMO you should stay away from Yeah Racing at all costs, I bought some CVD's and they are made of cheese! I havn't heard of any Yeah racing parts that fit properly.

Revracer 06.19.2008 11:03 AM

parts and batteries are different. I personally dont like yeah racing upgrade PARTS, but for all we know these could be the same exact cells as orion with a little heavier case... And the weight doesn't really bother me that much. But yes I am worried if they can hold a strong load. They are rated for what? Not even 70A continuous... That would be a problem in a revo that is pulling nearly 100 right now... It is way overgeared though so that will drop eventually(once i get batteries for it...).

Hows your DI been rcmonkey? this is streetracer745 from RCU

big greg 06.19.2008 12:41 PM

shoot i might try those for the price, look pretty good to me!

Revracer 06.19.2008 01:22 PM

the way I'm looking at it, I can get these for a less than it would take to get some good 4000-4500nimh packs, and they will last just as long runtime and have the same punch. I mean a DTX 4200 pack costs $39-$45 depending on where you buy it. Now they are amazing packs, My brother runs them and I've run them once in my TC, but a lipo of 3200 will give basically the same power, and it'll cost less for me to get them... But at the same time I just recently found the Protek 4000 packs at amainhobbies. They are twice the price... but I know they are worth the money... And they can deliver a lot more amperage.... Which is necesary for big builds... I'd like to order two packs at once so I can race my Revo. And sicne its shipping from out of the states itll take a while for them to get here, so I don't want to wait a few weeks to get one then like it and have to wait logner to get my other one...

Arct1k 06.19.2008 01:37 PM

I just bought 2 of these - will report on how they do.... Hopefully not a bad gamble

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/16870

Revracer 06.19.2008 02:11 PM

yeh I was talking about the 2s version(I want twin 2s packs so I can run them in my TC as well...) The 2s is like $60 a piece. still not a bad deal for a 4000, but still twice as much as the yeah racing. So someone here claims good reports on the Yeah packs, along with the 8 great reviews. And if you could report back to me on the proteks arct1k that be awsome.

Arct1k 06.19.2008 02:49 PM

You could always get 1 5s and get someone to split it for you... 88 for 2x 2s packs - give the person who builds it the extra cell

Revracer 06.19.2008 04:30 PM

I don't know who I could send it to to split it. And then if it fails I couldn't get it replaced.

big greg 06.19.2008 05:37 PM

man those proteck 5s's are a killer price, wish they had some 4s versions!

Revracer 06.19.2008 06:06 PM

they have a 2100 4s that you could run to make 4200 if you ran twins. Thats only $140. maxamps charges $190 for their 4s 4200 packs.

Revracer 06.19.2008 09:10 PM

man I just found some a123 2300 6.6 packs for $29 on ebay... Should I go lipo or a123? I dont want no more busted cells! of course I think that was manufacturer defects...

just get two 2s and hook em' up in serial...

Revracer 06.20.2008 05:06 PM

SO. Yeah Racing just released a 4000 25c 2s lipo. Only $55 on rcmart. Might end up getting that over the 3200 since it's got more power and is still the cheapest battery of the size. And still cheaper than a good 6 or 7 cell pack!

tc3_racer_001 06.20.2008 07:40 PM

cool. nice to know. even if it is only 20C, thats still an AWESOME price and equivilant to an unmatched decent pack.and lighter too.

Revracer 06.20.2008 07:43 PM

im so tempted to order them... Plus I can get 10% off any ebay order so if I ordered two 4000s I could get $11 off. Which aint much but still that much more money in the pocket ya know?

Maciolus 06.22.2008 04:36 PM

That looks good, I have been looking for an alternative to the orion 3600 2s pack for my m03 tamiya. I have to have a pack with the rounded sides so that it will fit. I may have to try one out!!!

Revracer 06.22.2008 05:22 PM

Yeh I've decided I'm gonna get the 4000s. I am gonna check with my LHS tomorrow to see if the ycan get them, and if not then they will probably come from ultralinehobbies.com who has them for the same price as RCmart. And free shipping

I have got some EagleTree interesting discharge data of YR 2S 3200mAh LiPo.

Setup - HB Cyclone S, MM4600, 40/106

First session (pack after approx balancenced 15 charging):
- max power 525W
- max amps 71.2A
- avg. voltage - 7.47V
- capacity - 3420 mAh

http://picasaweb.google.pl/Maciej.St...agleTree270608

EagleTree log:

Drifted Demon 06.29.2008 02:44 AM

those figures seem very reasonable for the YR lipo, & i guess the 4000 will have even greater figures...

hailmick 06.29.2008 07:53 AM

can i ask what type/ company balance plug is on their lipos 4000 batts
as im going to get a hyperion charger EOS0610i only because i can update it
and these lipos are $55 in oz
and i want to get the appropriate adapter
thanks

Maciolus 06.29.2008 07:58 AM

You do not need any adapter for Hyperion. You just have to remove small plastic arrow from the balancing tap (near the red wire).
