Novak brushless kit

I just had to buy one to see what's in it. I hope they sell the battery holders separately

Did you buy the rest of the kit? If so can we have some pics...please:whistle:

Desmo 06.24.2008 12:12 AM

I got side tracked before I took more pic's. I'll get some more tomorrow.

Desmo 06.24.2008 01:06 AM

The battery trays are right and lefts too by the way

tc3_racer_001 06.24.2008 04:27 AM

I WANT SOME! bet they are going to be expensive, and they wont fit my a123, but they are exactly what i need... and $100 for mike to do them custom is just too much (for me, but not for his time or products!!!

DRIFT_BUGGY 06.24.2008 06:28 AM

They do look nice, do you have to drill holes to mount them to the chassis?

NovakTwo 06.24.2008 11:25 AM

The press release for the conversion kit replacement parts should be going out this week. The battery boxes will be sold as a pair, since they are right and left. I believe that the LP for the pair is about $50.00.

rschoi_75 06.24.2008 01:24 PM

They look ok, but it looks like the length will limit your choices to 140mm and under. If that's the case, I'll just keep using traxxas battery holders at only $10 a pop. If I need a longer one, I'll buy mike's.

Desmo 06.24.2008 09:14 PM

50.00 a pair is too much for thin plastic holders. Maybe the street price will be less. They do look good, I'll see how they hold up in my elst

What's_nitro? 06.24.2008 09:27 PM

Looks like a nice tray. I'd like to see the rest of the kit, too.

Did you know there is a huge cut in the insulation of the positive lead on your 2s2p? :oh:

I noticed that myself when talking the pictures

Tray's mounted on my elst. They include hardware for mounting and a post or one end so you can use a body clip to close them. I used longer bolts so my huge 3s maxamps will fit.

Very nice!

NovakTwo 06.29.2008 10:03 AM

The material used to make the battery boxes and straps is glass-filled nylon, not plastic.

I noticed when I installed them that they are not plastic. They are very nice, just alittle spendy.

cmcclive 06.30.2008 10:47 AM

the individual parts are now officially available from shopatron...
A bit pricey though.
I just picked up the motor mount and fan for $50 plus $9 shipping, where as if I would have just bought the kit from amain it would have been $85 plus around $6-8 shipping and I could have re-sold the battery boxes and probably come out ahead...
I guess I should just be happy they are selling the parts individually though...

NovakTwo 06.30.2008 11:03 AM

When we established the pricing for the replacement parts for the conversion kits, the list prices for the separate parts added up @ to the LP of the complete kit.

However, retailers do not discount accessories nearly as much as they do the finished products---LHSs have to make money on their accessory sales. Therefore, accessory prices have very little discount from the mfg's list prices.

Since, the on-line sellers are a bit slow in uploading accessory listings, our SAT prices are initially set not to undercut their eventual prices. If those prices come in a lot lower, we will adjust the SAT prices because soon the SAT orders will be fulfilled by our SAT dealer network

I'll buy more ;). I'm happy with the way they fit in my elst. I'm going to do an outrunner eb4-s2 buggy next. I might sell the motor mount since my kyosho deal fell thru(dam ebay).

Desmo 07.01.2008 12:25 AM

any word on making longer versions to hold 165mm lipo's?

NovakTwo 07.01.2008 01:15 PM

No current plans, but we will keep suggestions in mind.

I'd like to suggest more hot girls used in promo photoshoots for Novak products- appeal more to your main demographic

NovakTwo 07.02.2008 11:05 AM

Who knew that our major demographic was dirty old codgers?

lincpimp 07.02.2008 11:17 AM

You also have alot of dirty young codgers too...

Me included...

I am sure that Bob likes "attractive promo ladies" as much as the next guy...

TexasSP 07.02.2008 11:53 AM

Linc would probably prefer bananas! In fact whoever puts a banana in their ad would be guaranteed to have linc's business for life.

But for the rest of us, hot promo girls are the way to go!

(ps: neil would probably like girls in the promos that would get you arrested )

For anyone that was interested in buying these parts individually...
I placed an order via shopatron (novak's sells their own stuff there...) on Monday for the motor mount and fan.
I got an "update" email yesterday (that I didn't read until this morning) that said the parts would not be available until next week from shopatron yet the website implied they are available now.
Based on that, I canceled the order and placed an order with amainhobbies.com (they get to much of my small parts money....) and for $45 more I get the battery trays (which I don't really need) and the motor mount to buggy adapter plate (which I also don't need). Now, I do not need these extras, but at least I trust amain to be honest if they have something ready to ship out the door.
I suppose I shouldn't be in to much of a hurry though, as Novak's Non-Warranty repair group has been looking over my motor/esc to figure out which component fried. Sorta expected to hear from them to at least admit they have received it and are diagnosing it....
All in all, I find if you email or call Novak they are very friendly and helpful. Placing orders it seems and non-warranty repairs (money for them) do not seem to be so efficient.
Yes I expect NovakTwo to reply back about how either my situation is the exception not the rule, or that I am being unfair and expect to much out of them. But last I checked Novak billed itself as a leader in RC electronics/accessories... and I am just getting impatient (two days to have an auto-email let me know the product was actually not in stock, and 4-5 business days without even getting a "we are looking into your problem" email...).
Hopefully, the repair group gets back to me next week (doubt I will hear anything today), it will be fixed and it will never break again, but I think that I might finally be willing to agree with the opinion on this board that the HV-Maxx w/ HV4.5 motor is not that reliable. Of course, had I known that the HV4.5 was only meant for speed runs (which is what the website states now) I wouldn't have purchased it, but hindsight is 20/20. When I hear from Novak Non-Warranty I will reply back to let anyone who cares know if my motor or esc or both was fried...

A couple pf comments:

We maintain the Shopatron store for the benefit of our national network of SAT dealers. Novak only fulfills the orders if--after a couple of days---no dealer in the network accepts the order for shipping. I have forwarded all of your comments to the folks at Novak in charge of the departments related to your comments.

I will check later today on the problem with your SAT order. Even if items are available at the factory, they may not yet be delivered to our finished product inventory that day--especially new items with high demand.

We do not examine or service items that are returned for repair. We replace everything with remanufactured items with a new 120 day warranty. These items are returned and include all items offered with original purchase; fans, cap modules etc. We charge for NW price replacement according to our replacement options guide. For items still under warranty, there is no charge

As to the 4.5 system speed run advice---that was added in conjunction with the release of the conversion kits (and refers to use with the kits), not with the earlier release. However, we can replace the system that you returned with any other value HV motor that you select---5.5, 6.5 or 7.5. Just email cs@teamnovak.com and PM me so I can follow up.

Your HV esc will be replaced with a newly programmable version (with external 4 cell Smart Stop module.) I apologize for any delays, but we do not contact customers when we receive items for service because our turn-around time is generally quite fast.

NovakTwo 07.03.2008 10:38 AM

Here is the response I received from our Operations officer:

Jackie:
If you receive any other accy orders that we state "now available", please let Lxxxx know. She can expedite the parts to avoid this problem. Sorry, I didn't see this order. There are quite a few items with this situation. We have all of the parts in the building but they are not finished up as accy items as our system is currently not showing demand (distributor orders). Thanks.

I neglected to mention in my previous post (but did let the non-warranty people know in my letter) that after talking with charlie@teamnovak.com he recommended that I send in both the ESC and motor as he could not diagnoss which was broken without testing them. When I called customer service before sending out the system they told me they would replace whichever item (motor/esc) was broken, thus I do not know if it is the motor or the ESC that will be replaced (hopefully not both due to the cost issue).
I suppose I was a little harsh this morning, I have been having a stressful week that the motor mount not yet being shipped pushed me over the edge, and Iwas hoping to get the stuff back this week so I wouldn't miss another race (I realize that I was being optomistic in that hope).

I surely get the stressful week part! Under the circumstances, I probably would be as grumpy as you...

If you still want the motor mount, I can have Jackie send you one N/C today. PM me your shipping addy.

cmcclive 07.03.2008 11:29 AM

I already ordered the whole conversion kit from amainhobbies.com. I guess this way if I decide to not use huge batteries, I can convert it the "proper way" instead of my hackjob (there are pictures in the buggy forum "mp777 sp2 brushless" or something along those lines).
